Vikings IN BIG TROUBLE vs. Bears Unless They Do This…

[Music] Yo, what’s going on everybody? Welcome to the Vikings now by chat sports. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show, we’re going be taking a look at the Vikings Bears NFC North showdown in US Bank the Stadium and talking about one thing the Vikings need to do and if they don’t, they could be in some big time trouble this Sunday. And then also later on today’s show, Justin Jefferson. He was asked by the media about his performance against the Baltimore Ravens and he had some interesting quotes. We’ll get to that on the second half of today’s show. Overall should have you guys fired up about number 18 possibly having a big time game this Sunday. But I do want to get you guys an updated look at our week 11 subscriber battle. We are taking on the Bears Now channel here at Chat Sports. Their wagon, they got over 100,000 subscribers here on YouTube and we are right on their heels for most subs game this week. So if you guys haven’t already, hit that subscribe button today. And plus, if you guys want to beat the Bears, not only on the field, but in the walls here at Chat Sports, hit that subscribe button today. So, I think the biggest key to victory this weekend for the Minnesota Vikings is going to be keeping Ko Williams in the pocket. It may sound simple. It may kind of sound like chalk anal or analysis here, but it really is going to make a big impact because if you guys remember week one against the Bears, even on that opening drive, Kale Williams was moving all around. He was evading sacks. He was playing some high level football outside of the pocket. And that’s really when Caleb is playing his best when he’s backyard football outside of structure. Can just li uh deliver frozen ropes down the field. And the Vikings have been able to generate pressure at a high level this season. In terms of quick pressure rate, which is pressures lower than 2 and 1/2 seconds. The Vikings are first in the National Football League by a wide margin, 27.6%. But also, the Vikings are only 11th in the league in sacks. What’s that telling me? And this is just by uh based off the stats, but also the film says the same things is that the Vikings are able to get home to the quarterback, but they can’t bring him down. I mean, we had two weeks ago Jared Goff was evading sacks. I mean, obviously Lamar Jackson, that’s what he does well more than, you know, any quarterback in the league, but he was evading rushers. This has been happening for the Vikings the entire season. So, you’re going to have to get Caleb down to the ground. And if you were to say like the weakest spot of the Vikings defense this year, I think it was no doubt, you know, the secondary, but the second weakest spot is the Vikings ability to just sack the quarterback because Brian Flores has still been fantastic in terms of just generating free rushers, getting the Vikings defense, you know, easy abilities to go bring the quarterback down, but they haven’t been able to do that. Like the Vikings, if you have the highest quick pressure rate in the league, but you’re 11th in sacks, like they should bare minimum be fifth in the league in sacks. But guys like Gennard, Dallas Turner, even the guys in the interior, the Redmonds, the Hargreaves, Allens, they’ve been able to get home and generate quick pressure, but they haven’t been able to get home to the quarterback. And going against Kale Williams, it’s a matchup nightmare. This was tweeted out by Aaron uh Hartett saying, uh, Kale Williams decided to stop taking sacks. 2024, last season during his rookie year, his sack rate was 10.8%. That was 45th out of 47 eligible quarterbacks. His pressure to sack ratio was 28.2% 2% which was 46. But this year he’s completely changed it. His sack rate is 4.6% which is fifth in the NFL and his pressure to sack rate is 12.2%. He has great feel. He can feel guys coming even when he doesn’t have direct eyes on him. I mean last week against the New York Giants I mean going back and watching that film like he had some of the best edge rushers in the league just making him look silly. And he forces a lot of missed tackles. He has actually forced 26 missed tackles this season according to PFF which is the first in the National Football League. Not by a close margin but by a wide margin. Then you have Josh Allen with 17 in second tied with Baker Mayfield and Jackson Dart. So this is obviously going to be huge for the Vikings this weekend because you know obviously a big issue. you’re able to get home, you’re able to collapse that pocket, but if you can’t get the quarterback to the ground and Caleb can, you know, just extend the play, get outside the pocket, have some explosive plays down the field, and also with the Vikings secondary not being able to hold up as well as they did in the previous season, it could be a disaster for this team this upcoming weekend. So, if you guys uh could chime in down below and hit that thumbs up icon, if you guys want the Vikings to beat the Bears this weekend, hit that thumbs up button. Big time spot for this Vikings team. And if you lose this game, you can pretty much kiss your playoff hopes goodbye. So, they need it. We need it here. All right, so Justin Jefferson uh during his media session today had a lot of cool quotes and this first one um Kevin Seafford tweeting it out saying really interesting media session today with Justin Jefferson said he wants to get back to his savage and effort mode. Um he admitted his frustration on Sunday and addressed not chasing players uh who intercepted passes. Obviously more to come. And also Jefferson did post on his Instagram story today. It was uh because it is the think three-year anniversary of his crazy catch in Buffalo on that fourth and 18. He said, “I need to get back to year three Jets.” Hopefully that’s the case this Sunday. But what Seifer was referring to is this, saying, “I’m not really mad at the situation that I’m in or I’m not mad at the players that we have or the plays that’s being called. Of course, I’m mad after an interception. You want me to be happy and go chase them down? That’s not really something I want to happen.” And I thought this was a little interesting by Jefferson. And I don’t mean to kind of spin this in a negative way, but he kind of was talking like Stefon Diggs right there. And it was specifically when Diggs was, you know, right before he asked asked to get traded from the Vikings, he kind of had some quotes very similar to that. But I just think Jefferson, he’s just wired differently than Diggs. I think he’ll be just fine. I think he’s honestly being very transparent with the media where he was saying, “Guys, what do you want me to do? I’m one of the best football players alive right now. I’m the best wide receiver alive. You want me to be happy when we have it? Third and one. Quarterback throws an interception. I fall down. Like now, would I love for Jefferson to say, “Yeah, I got to be better. I got to go try to hawk down that defender who had that interception 110%.” But he would be just fine. And I think he’s going to have a massive game this Sunday because I think when you have all-time great athletes who get embarrassed in previous week, which Jefferson did, like Jefferson was flatout terrible against the Baltimore Ravens. He was dropping balls that he normally catches. He was, you know, on both interceptions JJ had, they’re both targeting him. But when you have these alltime great talents, the following week coming off a bad week, he’ll have a good time or a big time game. It’s just going to come down to one the quarterback and Kevin Oonnell, you getting him easy looks. But I do like his mindset. It just kind of came off to me as him just being fully transparent. Now, if you want to say that’s, you know, kind of Diggsy, which it does kind of seem like it was, that’s fine. But just Jefferson and Diggs are just wired a little differently. But Jefferson was also talking about his mindset, which I thought was cool. He’s saying, “It’s just going out there with that effort mentality and just going out there and just killing it and not worrying about the plays, not worrying about anything else that I can’t control.” Now, I like that he’s saying that, but also it kind of gets me back to this, like he deserves a lot better. Um, you know, and I was very frustrated with Jefferson after that Ravens game because I didn’t like his body language. I didn’t like his attitude on the sidelines, but also knowing, you know, how he is wired, it kind of makes some sense. Like he has been perfect for the Vikings over the first, you know, five years leading in this one. You know, never caused any drama. Never had anything cryptic, but now we’re starting to see him kind of open up a little bit more to the media, not really following the playbook too much, uh, that I’m sure his PR team, you know, gave him a list of things to say. So, he’s becoming a lot more transparent. We’ll see if this ends up resulting in anything, but uh, he deserves better. And uh you know hopefully we’ll get better. Comes down to you know Kevin Okano and JJ McCarthy them developing that pass game uh hopefully fairly quickly here. But if you guys want to show Justin Jefferson some love to wrap up today’s show. Type those 18s down below. We’ll get on out of here. Uh big time game this Sunday. We’ll be live for it an hour before kickoff. So make sure you guys hit that subscribe button. Tune in then and we’ll get on out of here. As always go bikes. [Music]

  1. What’s Transparent Patrick were the Fans overreacting on Jefferson last week knowing we all were frustrated on the 3rd and 1 call? Keep it real 🏈

  2. Love this team and organization, but I think Kevin Connell’s been failing us. He refuses to resort to the run game even when it’s going well and he’s putting too much pressure on JJ.

  3. What about getting Addison more involved with crossing routes over the middle? Quick routes with yardage in stride after the catch? It should open up Jefferson deep.

  4. as a bears fan i love seeing the opposing team prospective on my bears, i hope we stomp the life out of the vikings for blowing that 1st game, whats crazy vikings the only team in the division that i dont hate n they had 2 of my favorite all time players AP my favorite running back of all time and randy moss my favorite wr ever, i hate the packers i didn’t hate the lions to they fans started acting like they been a dynasty after the first 3 good years of the entire franchise history
