Jets vs. Patriots Reaction 🏈 TreVeyon Henderson imposed his will – Woody | SC with SVP
Due to the Raandre Stevenson toe injury, these last two weeks on the road against Tampa Bay and now at home against the Jets have been a coming out show for Henderson. Three tonight, as I mentioned, Patriots rookie to do that. He’s got three in the history. And now he’s got two touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time for any patch rookie since Curtis, my favorite Martin. Shout the boom wherever you are. Damen Woody in studio with us. Let’s start with Trevian Henderson. This is one of those guys, you know how we do in in in preeason. Everybody gets excited when they see a rookie and it’s fantasy football centric and people say, “Oo, Henderson.” And then he’s largely forgotten whether it’s pass orandre Stevenson, whatever it is, he now gets an opportunity. What has he shown in these two weeks, Damian? Yeah, I mean, lit literally, it’s like next man up. You know, the one thing about Trayvon Henderson, everyone has known him as the the speed merchant from Ohio State. You know, that’s what we that’s what we’ve known from him. You saw it last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but I was really impressed tonight like in between the tackles. He was really gaining tough yards in between the tackles and then once we got once the Patriots got down close to the goal line, you know, you really saw him uh imposing his will down there. Drake May has been talked about as perhaps an MVP winner because New England’s been so good. Tonight was not a night where he had to do a ton. The one touchdown pass goes to Henderson who had the three as we’ve just described. But in the grand scheme with May playing at a high level and the kind of confidence and the schedule that we know is not the most difficult, we’re in November. Damian, what do you see in terms of the Patriots place among the AFC power brokers? I think the Patriots have the inside track to the number one seed in the AFC right now. I mean, you combine look at look at their schedule. They have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the National Football League. They’ve already in the AF, you know, in the AFC. They’ve already beaten Buffalo in Buffalo. Okay. So the road to me is going to go is probably going to go through Foxboro. Isn’t that wild? I mean, for all the folks that were just so sick of Brady and Bellich and them being great and they were they had some down seasons, but in a blink they’re right back to potentially being the one seed. But with that said, with that said, all credit to them, but you still have your doubts about them in terms of being a playoff threat because why? Well, I always say you got to cut off the head of the snake. meaning meaning Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen. I know the Patriots already beat Josh Allen in the regular season, but it’s a different animal in the postseason. You’re going to see one of those three quarterbacks in the postseason. And until then, it’s still those guys. It’s still those three quarterbacks that re supreme in the AFC. I I hate when people say I don’t disagree. I agree with that sentiment, but I think we also agree that there’s a confidence growing with New England and they got a young man at Drake May. If it’s not this year, it’s it’s not going to be too far down the road that he’s going to join that group potentially as a guy you don’t want to see in the playoffs. We agree with that. Oh, no. There’s no question about it. I mean, he’s literally an MVP candidate. Trevan, hey, it’s Scott Van Pel. Welcome to the show for the first time. It’s a pleasure to have you. Your head coach, Mike Brabbel, said that he was planning to put a lot on your plate this week. When you hear that and you answer the way that you did, h how did you prepare mentally for what might come your way on this Thursday night game? Um you know the biggest thing most importantly something that really helps me you know prepare for these games is just seeking the Lord uh spending time in the word spending time in prayer and so um that’s something that helps me out a lot. You find calm in that. I understand many I I can relate to that notion. Um how did you remain patient in this in this rookie year where I think early on folks thought wow this guy might really fly out of the gates and you now you’re doing it but it took a while to get there. What was the key to remain just sort of calm that the time would arrive? I think just trusting the Lord’s plan. Um just knowing that he has that he has a plan for me and um you know, just continue to do my part coming to practice each and every day. Just trying to be the best that I can be and um honor him with the work that I put in and um yeah, you know, uh just just waiting on it, you know, waiting on my time to come. And so, you know, but no matter what, you know, something that I’ve really learned through this season of life that I’ve been in is just to be grateful no matter the circumstances, no matter if I had a good game or a bad game, no matter if I have a little bit of reps or a lot of reps. Yeah. I was talking to Aaron Judge, the American League most valuable player tonight, and he talked about the notion of gratitude as well, right, for the moments and the things that you get to do when you’re scoring these these uh touchdowns tonight. We we’ve got the video of them. uh one of them you got some help from from your friends on the O line. What what do you uh what do you remember specifically about those play calls and what happened in uh in real time? Yeah. Um I think I think the biggest thing is just uh you know I really give the credit to the guys up front. Um you know they make our jobs easier. They’re the ones that put in the dirty work and so um I really give the credit to those guys. Uh you know I at one moment I stopped. you know, I feel like I’m stopping. I’m coming up short and then the next thing you know, those guys are hustling downfield and um pushing me into the end zone. And so I give the credit to those guys. Yeah, they had other ideas, right? They wanted to get you in. I think about the four yardd line they pushed you in. You guys had some momentum on your side. Now, we showed the video of of another Buckeye, Coach Vable, greeting you on the sidelines. I’ve known him forever. Tayvian, how would you explain to our viewers the kind of connection, the kind of authentic connection that your head coach has with your group in that room? Yeah. Um, you know, I think coach Verbbo, he’s a genuine dude, and, um, he’s a great leader for this team, a great head coach. Um, and he’s a good players coach, and, um, you know, he connects with the players really well. But the thing as well, though, he challenges us. You know, uh, he he he tries his best to get the get the most out of us. And so, um, each and every time we come to practice, uh, we know that we’re going to be challenged. We know that we’re going to be tested. And so, um, he’s definitely helping us to just continue to grow as a team and, um, get better. Yeah. And the thing about him is he can point to pictures in the wall in your team building and go, “Yeah, that’s me in the Super Bowl.” Like, he’s done it for that organization. So, he’s got the bonafides as well. I want to close on something totally totally unrelated to this team, but to the team in Columbus because I’ve se I’ve heard some of the guys that are there suggest that this year’s team might be better than last year’s team. And I’m like, hold on a minute. Hold on now. I watched you guys win the chip last year. What do you think of the guys that are uh that are in Columbus this year in that number one squad? Because they’re nice, but I don’t know if they’re as good as you guys were. Yeah. No, those guys are balling right now, man. I’m I’m proud of those guys to see those guys mature as men and um and as players as well. And so, you know, I’m proud of those guys. Who knows? You know, they might I think they’re going to win the uh chip again. And I’m sorry, I’m not asking you to say it, but I think that smile might say that you’ll take your chances against anybody because you guys obviously went on a legendary run last year in the playoff. Uh, and this this New England team is headed that way as well. Trayvon, congratulations on a fantastic night. Uh, thanks for taking a little bit of time. Good health the rest of the way. Okay. Yes. Thank you so much. Have a good one. You see that the last three seasons after they went 8 and 26 over the 23 and 24 seasons. It’s a completely different year. New England 9 and two, more wins in 11 games than they had in 34 games over the past two seasons. There’s a lot that’s baked into that. I think Mike Vrabel certainly has had a gigantic impact as well. I know Damen Woody would echo that thought. He is uh he’s that guy and you heard his you heard his player say that there. Now week 11 has got some gigantic games. I was asked in our show meeting earlier on Thursday, what do I think is the most significant game? I said Ram Seahawks. You disagree and I think I get why. You say it’s Broncos and uh Chiefs. Why? Yeah, listen. The the Broncos are 8-2. The Chiefs are five and four. Divisional game playing in Denver. You You’re the Chiefs. You fall to the Denver Broncos. You go to five and five. Uhhuh. We’re looking at a different different landscape for you now. I think it all but certainly, you know, knocks you out of winning the the the AFC West at a minimum. At a minimum. Okay. And you’re you’re fighting for a wild card spot and trying to do this whole whole thing again back on the road uh if you’re the Kansas City Chiefs. So, this is going this is a big big I can’t remember the last time the Chiefs were in a kind of a big spot like this in in the regular season, right? I mean, I I hesitate to say must win until like your path is completely extinguished if you don’t win it. But this is the first time I can remember a November before Thanksgiving game the Chiefs had where it felt like if they didn’t win it, they were in trouble. And that’s that’s where we’re both saying that, aren’t we? Yeah. Exactly. Like listen, I don’t knock the the Seattle Rams game. That’s box office. There’s no question about it. But I think this this Broncos Chiefs game is huge for the Kansas City Chiefs. I I And look, 8 and2 Denver’s got the division sort of in their hands to a degree. Uh but Kansas City’s coming in off a buy. We know what that means for Reed. So Kansas City’s as desperate as you can be at this spot. Buffalo’s not desperate, but you got New England continuing to win. And what happened last week against Miami? Where does that leave Buffalo with a good Tampa Bay team coming up to Orchard Park? Listen, I think that the whole think about this. This is supposed to be Buffalo’s year. The everyone we talked about how the, you know, they traveled the least of any team in the National Football League. They’ve controlled the AFC East. Basically, all things going to run through Buffalo and here they are. Yeah. About what, a g game, two games behind New England. Y coming off a ugly road loss against the Miami Dolphins. And now you got to go up against a team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who’s a very good team in its own right that’s coming off a loss against the New England Patriots at home. So if you’re Buffalo, how are you going to respond to how you going to respond against a very good Tampa Bay Buccaneers team? I think that’s going to be a a really good test for for this for this Bills team. I agree. I think the the advantage Tampa Bay has is they’re in a division where they could absorb a loss and they should still be okay to make the playoffs. for his Buffalo. Sure, a playoff birth, but I mean, as you say, you got the MVP, your your schedule set up for you, and now here you are looking up at New England. All right, let’s get to that Rams Seattle game because you’re not saying it’s not box office because it is Philly still out there and all they do is win, but they still have all this chatter about all these things that don’t really seem to matter, but they keep winning and they they’ve got the one the path to the one for now. But what are you prepared to say about who Seattle or the Rams are? Whoever wins this game, are they are they a Super Bowl favorite contender? What are they? I think they whoever whoever wins the best team in the NFC and like these are two titans in the NFC because they both have great defenses. They both have great offenses. They got They both got great quarterbacks who are right at the top of the MVP race. So, there’s not much difference between either ball club. I think this game is going to come down to which quarterback is going to make make more plays going up against those very good defenses that they’ll face. I’m just interested in in Stafford against the Seattle defense because this Seattle defense has showed a ton, but in the last couple of games against a banged up Washington team and Arizona without it starting quarterback. I mean, this is a very different animal here. Is this an opportunity for Seattle’s defense to to show a different gear than maybe we’ve seen thus far? Oh, there’s no question. And I think this this will be an opportunity for I think for the nation to kind of see like we’ve been talking about the Seattle Seahawks. Sometimes when you know a team like Seattle up in the Pacific Northwest, not everyone has gotten a chance to see them. They are for real. Their defense is legit. This will be a great opportunity for the nation to see Matthew Stafford who’s playing the best ball in any quarterback in the National Football League going against arguably the best defense in the National Football League in Seattle. You know how loaded the week is. We get all this way. Before I even ask you, Philly and Detroit on Sunday Night Football. Philly is all they do is win. Y I I I’m interested in this just from the perspective of the Lions cuz I still have a sneaking suspicion that that team they might be they might be off to the side without people talking about them as much. This feels like a monster spot if they could go on the road and knock off. Don’t dismiss the Lions. Please. Like people out there, please don’t dismiss the Lions. Like you see Dan Campbell is kind of taking over play calling duties and look what happened. I know it was against, you know, that that Washington Commander defense, but they got playmakers all over the place. And going up against this Philadelphia Eagles defense, that’s going to be a really good chess match going up against Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. We don’t have the time to expand on it, but do you just chuckle that all Philly does is win and there just seems to always be something that there’s always like it’s just, you know, for us in television, it’s just great father because it’s like these dudes win. They got more drama than than than reality TV shows, but that’s what football is. I just wonder if uh Eleven’s going to get fed this week. Sometimes that’s what happens coming out of uh you know, going on playing video games and saying, “Drop me in fantasy.” It’s about time. He needs to get fed. He’s hungry. I think he might. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music]

You know what's funny to me and I'm a diehard Pat's fan I look at both of these teams next few games and they say the Patriots schedule is easier now when if you really look. The Jets got a better chance of winning 4 games in the next few weeks than the Patriots winning all their games especially if Joe and Lamar beat their injury bug plus Baltimore needs every win they can get I'm just sayin
Man, that Full Back improved a lot from last week. Threw for 105 total yards. Double from last week. What more do you want? If he was a QB obviously that counts for worst passing rating among all current NFL QBs. But be realistic, he is a FB at the end of the day. If Glen was a smart man he would start the backup . Who signed him in the 1st place to kick out AR? Those people need to be fired.
Maye and Henderson are the future of this franchise. LFG boys
I think he earned his spot as the starter. I hope he loosens up a bit and shows us his real personality in interviews going forward
#PatVengers
Honestly, anything the Pats do is gravy…They are coming off a 4-win season. They still need a safety, defensive edge help, and O-line help. They don't need to make a deep run in the playoffs. They are going to win 12-13 games, with 70ish mill in cap space, 10 plus draft picks, a good young QB, and a players coach in Vrabel? It's not going to be hard to attract those 4-5 really good players; they need to be a top-tier team in the NFL. Drake is 23 with mid-level offensive weapons and getting it done in a Josh McDaniels offense…They are not in a rush, they are building this team right…whatever they do in the meantime is just extra
Yea but they are still way behind KC… I just don't see Drake Maye beating KC.
I wouldn't even be mad if Stevenson extends his injury rest.
Vabrel is a gift from the football gods! LET'S GO!
Stevenson better watch out, speed and aggression with Henderson
Real 3 down back with pace 💯💯💯 and held on to the ball very well in this game especially on early drives
The Colts and the Patriots have soft schedules this season. Both will make the playoffs, then we shall see what happens.
Homie is a class act 🫡
I still like Stevenson, he had his fumble issues and fixed them, he played well when we last saw him! If we keep starting him I won't be upset
TreVeyon Henderson was sensational tonight. That was a steal by the New England Patriots getting him in the NFL Draft. Also, they have found their QB for the next 10 years in Drake Maye
Hendersons got boatloads of talent. You can’t teach that. So all the ppl pointing out he’s just a home run hitter…you can teach a guy and with time he’ll learn how to read the blocks and predict the lanes. You can’t teach that kind of speed
Treveyon Henderson won a college football national title and is the best player in college football history and has helped the Patriots go 9 and 2 this year BUT by himself, sucks so far in his NFL career. He was elite in college football though.
it's happening again…..good lord it's happening again. please, no. Please, dear god NO! NOOOOOOO!
Was pissed when the Commanders didn’t get him
What's crazy is those 2 big drops took about 80 yds off Maye's total and a potential td! Play calling in the second half gets suspect from time to time.
Props to treyeyon for praising the Lord! 🙏🏼✝️
I love how Henderson thanks God and is so humble. That’s what it’s all about. He realizes the bigger picture. God Bless him.
Respect to Josh Allen and Lamar, but they are NOT even close to being the “head of the snake” as you guys said, the clear guy to beat is Patrick Mahomes, we back and we obviously know Buffalo is a very scary opponent and so is Baltimore, but they not the king of the hill.
The Pats have a threat they haven't had for many years. They have speed! When Boutte is back, Austin Hooper anc Stevenson. The Offense going to be multidimensional. You add Mayes ability to run. DANGEROUS!
Its not soup yet
Why is everyone so in love with Drake Maye? He was off target on every deep ball he threw tonight.
Go Henderson the patriots are back drake been playing amazing this year
Drake Maye is the MVP!!!
SVP burning the midnight oil.. Thanks big dawg
That’s how Stephenson got the RB 1 roll Damian Harris hamstring injury
ESPN & the media loves meat riding the bills chiefs and ravens 😂 what has josh Allen ever won on the playoffs ? What has Lamar ? Both are regular season merchants
The disrespect…
this commentator pmo
Yeah look at NE's strength of schedule… they are way over rated by a lot. They will not win in the end of the season or the playoffs.
That’s a Buckeye 🅾️🙌🏾
Henderson proved himself tonight, both carrying the rock and in pass-protection. He seems to have fixed his primary weaknesses already, and definitely deserves the RB1 spot
What a guy, nice young man! Good to see ❤
Stephon Diggs won them that game.
No one has mentioned this but did you all notice how off target Drake Maye's passes were in the rain against Tampa Bay?
BEST RB!
The pats have the easiest schedule nfl bless them with weak teams
Lets Go!!!
All the pats fans coming out from the darkness 😭
He seems like a well-grounded humble guy.
19 for 62 imposing his will lmao 😂
That easy schedule to end the season could screw them. They might get comfortable and be on a 12 hand winning streak or whatever, then they get to the playoffs and it's a good team in the other side and they aren't ready for his much better a good team is compared to a bad team.
As a commander fan we should have drafted him man !!
"Lords plan"…is such a recycled line by these guys and most go out and lead life not based in faith lmao they sound r*tarded 😂
McDaniels isn't getting enough credit..
Whats with the mouth guards
