if you see this Justin, this could be your opportunity to turn your career around

  1. I thought the exact same thing watching the game. David Montgomery on the Lions was a quarterback in HS. JF reminds me of him, also makes it great for trick plays.

  2. i can see a taysom hill type vibe. we have the offense—we can utilize him in gadget plays to shake shit up

  3. He better learn how to hold on to the ball then cuz he’s got the most fumbles in the league I think since he entered it

  4. Once he collects all the guaranteed money from Jets, he will earn around $30M for his career. Why convert to a position that takes such a beating and make minimal contribution to his career earnings?

At this point in his life, his best move is to hang around as backup QB until he washes out of the league. More money, less hits, healthier life after NFL

  5. I mean I like his odds better there than continuing to pretend like he has any competence at all as a passer. But running in the open field is a lot different than having to continuously find holes in running lanes from behind the LOS. I don’t think he’s that special of a runner other than just having impressive straight line speed for a QB

  6. I was legitimately thinking this last night after all his runs and his 1 catch attempt. Can he catch? If so I think he would make a perfect RB/H-back, gadget player. Let him occasionally run some RPO’s too, and I think he’d be an excellent weapon for a team. Hes just not a fulltime QB

  7. If he could put on 20lb of muscle, he’d have the same height/weight as Derrick Heny and a faster 40 time.

  8. You already know the drill

    >Ask player for a position change

    > Players says no

    > Player suck

    > Player is cut, signs at veteran minimum for a contender

    > Player makes the suggested position change during training camp

    > Player thrives, just not with us.

  9. Brad Smith wildcat QB role. Would at least add some value next year for the $30M guaranteed the Jets gave him.

  10. Yep, this guy is never gonna make it as a QB but he could be a Taysom Hill type of all-around weapon. Maybe even better than Hill since Fields is faster.

  11. This is completely unrealistic as cool as it would be to see. Backup quarterbacks make a killing in the NFL and running backs make hardly anything unless he legitimately thinks he can be a top five or top 10 back (doubtful) he would never do this.

At maximum he would likely transitioned to a Taysom Hill style gadget player.

  12. Will be hell of a trick play after he gets 20 carries and the pitch it back for him to bomb it 50 yards

  13. I don’t think people understand how much skill goes into playing this position. It’s just athleticism and size. Look at the beast that is Odell Beckham jrs cousin who tried doing this. It just doesn’t work that way

  14. I just think that taking the few people who have done it and said it make sense for him to do it is a stretch.

  15. I definitely think Fields is a freak athlete. But are we seriously thinking he can hold up as a pass blocker in the back field? No chance. He needs to become a gadget guy/wildcat QB.

  16. I was thinking this guy needs to learn how to run routes. He can be like another Brad Smith.

  17. It’s like running an offense with Brad Smith as the starting QB. Maybe you get some momentum on a drive or two per game but it’s impossible to run as a consistent offense through a QB like him.

He’s obviously an excellent runner with great moves and vision. I’m not sure if he can catch or ifs a little late in the game for him to be able to learn how to run routes or block, but he projects so well into a Taysom Hill roll. Imagine him returning kicks? Hed be insane. But even as a backup QB, he offers nothing as a thrower on a consistent basis

  18. Ugh. I have to admit, “inevitability” instead of “inevitably” took me a while before I could consider what the rest of this idea was 🤦🏼‍♂️
