Rich Eisen Reacts to the New York Giants Firing Head Coach Brian Daboll | The Rich Eisen Show

This is unbelievable. This is this this basically sums up what it’s like to potentially be a head coach in the National Football League. You get your first shot because you have amongst other things come up through the I guess Sabin/Bich tree. I’m sure Bellich was talking about Debold to the Mara and Tish family saying hire this guy. And you also saw what he did to Josh with Josh Allen and you hire the Bills general manager. Let’s let’s let’s bring it together and let’s go. and all he does with Daniel Jones is make the playoffs and win coach of the year that year. We all know the decisions that were made in the front office and then the inability to win games with none other than Daniel Jones and yada yada yada a 6-11 season in his second year there a 3 and4 season in his third year there a drafting of a kid named Jackson Dart who he goes to in early stages at 0 and3 and they’re 2-8 and Brian Dable after going 97-1 in his first year to win coach of the year is fired in the middle of his fourth season with a 2040 and one overall record as a head coach of the Giants against the Cowboys, Broncos, and Bears in the fourth quarter. The Giants at the zenith of their leads in those games had percentages to win of 92.3% against the Cowboys. Against the Broncos, 99.3% and then against the Bears yesterday, 96.9% chance of winning late in the fourth quarter. The Giants lost all of them. According to this mathematic expert, the odds of that happening is 1 in60,000. The Giants didn’t want to do this, people. I know it. I saw it with them. They love this guy. They didn’t want to fire him. John Mara did everything he could to try and hold on to give Dable every chance. It doesn’t help him that they lost Scat or or Dable. They lost Scataboo and they lost Malik Neighbors. Yeah. and he’s still doing all this stuff, which is to to Dave Ball’s credit, but they couldn’t win games in the fourth quarter. Defensively, they should be way better and get way better results than the ones that they are currently getting. You take a look at the the Jets record over the last five years, and they’re now a half game better than the Giants. And they’ve been brutal.

Rich Eisen reacts to the breaking news of the Giants firing former NFL Coach of the Year Brian Daboll, ending his 20-40-1 tenure in New York.

  1. And he lost Graham Gano in the warmup to the Chiefs game – and FG/Xtra Pt kicking affected at least 2-4 of the games lost by affecting critical decisions on scoring plays.

  2. From the outside looking in, he was
Hard to work with. He didn’t hold onto what made him a force in his first year(players had to earn reps) went for it in 4th downs whe it was clutch time. From what I hear he ran a “country club” camp. Zero accountability on players. If he hook defensive play calls after the Denver game he may have saved his job. Oh and ran his rookie quarterback into the ground yo try and save his job.

  3. Pundits hail the one-year-wonders because new sells. Daboll was the QB whisperers whisperer, EXACTLY like the completely unimpressive Kevin O'Connell and the equally mundane Mike McDaniel. GENIUSES!
There's a guy that is in the top five winning percentages OF ALL TIME – hanging with Halas and the guy who they named the frapping trophy after – who will NEVER win COTY, so that shows what that accolade is worth.

  4. I think it's just a long shot to hire offensive coordinators as head coaches. It's boring, it's not a sexy hire, but unless your candidate's name is Mcvay Shannahan or Campbell, go with the defensive guy and find the best OC candidate you possibly can. New England is 8 and 2 right now, they wouldn't be if Vrabel and Mcdaniel's roles were flipped.

  5. The accountability in this organization will be the reason they continue to suck for the next decade. Firing this guy was a mistake imo. Management needs to go, just look at the past 5 season. Look at the moves they have made. Your head will be spinning saying wtf am I missing cuz that’s how bad management has been. I think he’s gonna find another team and end up with another coach of the year award. Odds are slim but if he’s givin another shot which I do think he will be given. I see him striking gold

  6. Some OC’s just can’t be a HC. Daboll should have fired his DC after game 3. Bowen hasn’t been good since last year. This year there are more defensive weapons which many of us were worried he wouldn’t use properly, and we were right. THAT falls on the HC. Schoen is culpable also for other debacles. But due to Mara dealing with his illness, one step at a time.
The good news…we got our franchise QB baby and once Malik and Cam are back and more weapons are added we’ll be a better team. 😊
