Giannis speaks on getting game ball for Lakers after ref wouldn’t give it to them

Lakers rookie Aduiro scored his first NBA bucket in his first NBA minutes on this pretty tough dunk. And after the game, the Lakers were trying to get the game ball for him, but the ref wouldn’t hand it over. So Giannis went up to the Bucks staff and got the game ball for the Lakers and Giannis spoke about it in his postgame interview as well as Ado speaking about scoring his first NBA bucket. Um, after the game, you had a moment of kindness there. What to to give Ad the ball? Just what what were you hearing and what made you kind of go? I didn’t tell what was going on. I asked an ass and told him what was going on. He was like the night giving the ball to the to the rookie. Um I don’t know why I don’t know why they wasn’t giving the ball. I just went grabbed the ball and gave it to and gave it to the team. Um along those lines, you had to go to war with a bunch of people tonight to get a do his ball. Um what was that like? Well, first of all, what was it like on the bench to kind of watch a guy who hadn’t played live basketball in eight months be able to get out there and do that? And then uh why was it important for you to get the ball for him? I mean, it’s great, you know, just to see him out there. Obviously, he had the the knee injury, so uh I think he can be a great player. I mean, he’s physical. He can jump out of the gym and you know, he’s a fighter, so I was really happy to see him out there. Uh you know, and you always remember your first points, still have the ball, so I know it it will mean a lot to him to keep that at home. So, Yiannis took it. So, I have respect to him. D Austin was just saying that every NBA player remembers their first bucket and like he remembered his and he kind of took it took us through it. Can you take us through the moment the and I know you scored first at the free throw line, but the the dunk. Can you kind just take us through in slow-mo of that moment for you? Um I really saw Bronnie steal the ball and he was running alongside, you know, the left side of the court. So now I was like shoot, let me just run as hard as I can, see what happens. And you know, he was able to find me, help me, you know, get my first bucket. So, you know, it’s a great feeling. Happy happy, you know, it happened. I know you’ve been working towards this for a while, trying to get back and get healthy. And so, after it goes through, did you look over to the bench and kind of see the reaction of your teammates? Did that make you feel a little extra special? I I heard him whenever I dunked the ball, I could hear them. So, you know, that was that was pretty hype. But coming down and seeing everybody flexing and all over the bench, you know, you know, it was just a a good feeling for everybody to be happy for me. And did you see the lengths that they went to to make sure that you got the game ball? after afterwards. Yeah, I did. At first I didn’t even realize, you know, it was all for me. But you know I’m very thankful for this team and you know I guess that uh I think that shows you know how connected we are and you know how much we want each other to succeed and to succeed as a

  1. Giannis is one of those unique players who have the physical gifts and talent to dominate the league, and somehow stay grounded and humble.
That ball meant nothing to him but he knew it meant a lot to Thiero, what a class act to step in for a rookie on the other team.
