No breathing room — Montreal surging and Toronto struggling amidst an air tight Atlantic Division
Today on Lockdown Red Wings, it is airtight in the Atlantic Division with no room to breathe. But some of those roles have been reversed. You’re Locked on Red Wings, your daily podcast on the Detroit Red Wings, part of the Locked On Network, your team every day. Welcome back to the Locked On Red Wings podcast. We are your hosts, Brian Fischer and Scotty Bentley, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. And you can listen to us wherever you get your podcasts. Uh today’s episode, we want to take a look at the Atlantic Division. We’re just a little over the month into the season. And we have kind of a snapshot now of how these standings are looking. It’s airtight. Just no room to breathe with number one in the division and num through to number seven in the division. Yet the teams that are at the top and the teams that are at the bottom are a lot different than I think we were expecting going into the year. So, we’ll talk about that, just our reaction to what the Atlantic Division is doing at the moment. And also, if the teams at the top are for real and if the teams at the bottom are going to be struggling like this all year long. Before we can get to any of that, I got to let you guys know today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel. Going from top to bottom, it is Buffalo in eighth place with 14 points. Toronto with 17 is tied with Florida at 17 for 6/7th. Detroit and Tampa Bay are tied for fourth fifth at 18. Ottawa and Boston are at third and second with 19 and 20 respectively. And Montreal sits at the top with 22 points, 10 wins, three losses, two overtime losses. So, while we expected the Atlantic Division to be this tight with just five points separating first from seventh this season, because the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference as a whole, we expected to be very competitive. Who is at the top and who is at the bottom, I think, is certainly shocking to us. Well, not Buffalo, but bottom being sixth and seventh. Scotty, what teams have surprised you the most here one month into the season? Hey, man. So, how many times are you going to say 67? Cuz that I mean that was a that was like borderline intentional. Like you did it like 80 times. I saw you like getting ready to snicker and I could not understand like what did I say that was funny? because as far as I’m aware like I I’m like that was a pretty clean intro and I was like no I’m not gonna I’m not gonna do that. Sorry but a millennial here that that went right over my head until you said something. I apologize. So old dude. Um yeah I I I think I mean obviously like you said kind of the the roles maybe a little bit reversed. I think the two biggest surprises I would say so far are the Bruins and the Leafs for different reasons. Um, but it’s even it almost feels disingenuous to even say that because those two teams, despite the fact that they’re second and seventh respectively, are three points apart from each other. Like it’s not like it’s not like oh my goodness the Bruins are off to like the some incredible fantastic start to the year and and the Leafs, you know, like can’t win a game. Like no, they’re they’re both over 500 and the Leafs have two fewer regulation wins than the Bruins. Like so I I I guess like again th those would be the the two biggest surprises just in terms of where they fall in the standings, but we’re still at a point in the season where in you know two weeks time that it could the the ship can be writed and it could just be kind of chalk and and how we expect it to be. Yeah. I mean Boston’s expected goal share at five on five. Here we go again already four minutes in. Brian’s been up expected goal share. a new record. They’re they’re 29th in the NHL. They are a team that is plus one. Yeah. No, and like if you have you seen their their schedule how it’s played out. They won three straight to start the season, then lost six straight. Now they’re on a six game winning stre. Yeah. So like this is a Boston Bruins team that is hot and then cold and then hot again. And I kind of honestly would not be surprised if that’s the story of their season because this is the team, you’re right, when you talk about the teams that have surprised you the most. I think Boston and Toronto would be number one and number two because Boston’s metrics, you know, I haven’t looked at their special teams right now, how that’s performing. Their their metrics suggest they probably shouldn’t be as high as they are. And we would we expected them to definitely be lower given the fact that their roster is pretty decimated down the middle. They have like no center depth at all. David Pastnok obviously can do what he does best and Swayman can certainly have a bounceback season, but I don’t think either of us ever at any point expected the Boston Bruins to be second place in the Atlantic division by the season’s end. But here’s the thing, it’s not the season’s end yet, right? Like it is one month into the season and you put it best, three points separating the Boston Bruins from the Toronto Maple Leafs for second and seventh in the Atlantic division. So, it’s it’s still wide open. It’s a wide openen field on who can do what. And I would wholly expect getting a little ahead of myself, but we’re talking about pretenders and contenders. I definitely think Boston is a bit of a contender early on in the season here. I I would be shocked if they maintain a divisional spot by season’s end, even a wild card spot. I don’t have them making the playoffs at all. Yeah, I I I would agree. I I think there’s still just a lot there’s still a lot of stuff that they will have to overcome and I think to your point they are a team that is not going to be clearly like among the the worst of the worst. Um that being said they I I guess that’s kind of like the the tier I put them in is frisky. like they’re they’re a team that can can beat anyone really on any given night and still has, you know, e elite talent at the very very top, but just does not have the depth to be consistently good over 82 games. So, it’s it’s kind of like an any given night sort of team. and and and they’ll be decent and they’ll probably go on hot stretches like they are right now. But I I think as we’ve already seen one month into the season, they will probably also be accompanied by some really cold stretches and inconsistencies just because their depth is is so lackluster. So they are Sorry, go ahead. I thought you were finishing. No, that’s pretty much it. I I just again, you know, to reiterate that they could lose their next two games and be in seventh. like like that’s how close everything still is. And they are the definition of outscoring their problems right now. I mean they are what I think sixth in goals against sixth most goals against at five on five but they’re also eighth most goals for at five on five. It’s just they’re they’re outscoring their issues right now which is we’ve seen it with the Red Wings and the Buffalo Sabres in years past. That’s not a formula for success long term. Both the Buffalo Sabres and Red Wings got close to making the playoffs in the years they outscored their problems, but they fell just short. Um, speaking about goals against though, no team has allowed more goals against that five on five than the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team that you just brought up as one of the big surprises. And again, they’re what, four points out of the first place in the Atlantic Division. And I think they’ll rebound enough to be a divisional team eventually. Defensively though, they’ve been putrid. Part of that is they lost Mitch Mner who was their best defensive forward. He was a PK one guy, a power play one guy and a 100 point score. And part of the part of the petty part the petty part of me, Scotty, is like, “Oh, you mean that losing Mitch Mner actually does make a difference?” Because so many Leafs fans were trying to convince themselves that Mitch losing Mitch Martner wasn’t going to hurt them that bad. And wouldn’t you guess it that and part another part of it too is that they’re playing a trying to play a different brand of hockey right now. They’re trying to play a bigger more physical game relying less on their skill because the skill hasn’t worked for them in years past and it’s not working. So now they’re playing right. They’re also they’re playing with less skill and this physical brand they’re trying to establish does not work. But they are still also second in the league at at goals four at five on five. So just like the Boston Bruins, despite the future record, they are also outscoring their issues. They’re just not getting the results that Boston is. So two teams that kind of I think Toronto will be fine because you have too much talent there and Austin Matthews and Knander and you know, N to in my opinion for them to not make the playoffs still. But, uh, they got to they got to figure it out real quickly here because it’s tight right now, but if you keep dropping games, eventually somebody’s going to create separation for sure. Yeah. And I I I also am, you know, my worry meter, if you will, uh, on the Leafs, you know, would be very low if I rooted for that team in any capacity, which obviously I do not. Um, like I I again they they still have more wins than losses on the season. Like it’s not even like this has been some catastrophic like oh they’re one of the worst teams in the NHL. Now to your point that you know 60 goals against total on the year is is the most of any team in the Atlantic. So like that clearly they have an issue there and and that’s been kind of a a talking point for the Leafs in this whole like Austin Matthews era kind of has just been like you know they have the offense, they have the ability to put the puck in the back of the net. Do they have depth on the blue line or really anybody consistently that they can put in that? And I I think that that probably letting your best defensive forward walk that also is an 100 point producer. Um best defensive forward and also one of your best offensive forwards Matthews just incredible. Uh you know letting him walk is is certainly a decision that they again I I think they write the ship. I think they’ll be fine, but I think they are in just the early stages still of learning how to win without some of the talent that they’ve had in years past on this year’s team. But I I think they’ll be a glass cannon. Like they’ll be outscore your problems team probably for a majority of the year. What they’ve always been honestly, right? But I I think they will be able to do that because they have the talent to do that. So right um it’ll be interesting to see. I I do want to talk about um the Panthers who are currently tied with the Leafs down there. That’s obviously a talking point. And then uh the Senators got off to a really slow start, death taxes and a slow start. And then um and a senator’s slow start as I I always joke on this show, but then um you know, they’re they only have one regulation loss in their last 10 games and are right back toward the top of the division. So they’re obviously a big talking point, too. Yep. We’ll head talk about those teams in segment two. So stay tuned to Lockdown Red Wings. When I’m hydrated, everything just works better. Segment two, Lockdown Red Wings podcast. All right, Scotty. There’s a host of other teams I I want to talk about because this Atlantic division, it’s so tight, right? And again, I want to reiterate the same thing we’ve talked about a couple times, mentioned a couple times that Toronto’s at seventh, Florida’s at sixth, and Detroit is fifth, Montreal first. That sounds crazy, but the degree of separation is so small. I’ve said five points, but really two wins, two regulation wins is separating first from seventh. So, while it’s definitely shocking to see how some of these teams are playing, like that is, there is something to be talked about there with how poor some of these teams are playing and how great some of these other teams are playing. Also know that it’s going to continue to be this airtight probably all season. And we’ll see teams find their level. Some teams will aggress to the mean backwards and others upwards. Yeah. First and seventh are separated by five points. Like that’s that’s three regulation wins. Like you know what I mean? I it’s it is and not even. It’s it’s two regulation wins and an overtime loss can get you you know that. So it’s it is it is very tight. Um where do you want to go? You want to talk Panthers? I mean, I I don’t think that’s a super long conversation. Like, they’re they’re still the Panthers. And and to your credit, you know, you had mentioned even in our our preseason preview how like, oh, maybe they get off to a slower start because they’re dealing with some injuries at the beginning of the year and then, you know, pick it up as the year goes along. I think that’s probably more so what we’re seeing here. I’m not like worried that the Panthers are just going to be like bad this year. Um, and yeah, like they’re they’re in sixth and a win away from being in fourth. So, like, you know what I mean? Like, literally if they win their next game, they’re in fourth place. So, I I think they’re fine. Well, they’re they’re just so beat up like be beyond the normal that we knew about at the start of the season. Like, obviously, Barov’s out for the year. Kachchuck’s probably going to miss the first half of the year. No sex out on the LTIR. Demetri Kulicov’s on the IR. Then I thought I saw something about Gajivic also is out now. Pipedia hasn’t updated that, but I thought I had seen something about him being out for a couple months with a surgery himself. I’ll have to double check on that one. But this is a team that obviously they they are just built for the playoffs. But at some point, you knew the three straight Stanley Cup finals were going to take its toll on this team. And I think we’re seeing it early on the season here. I said I wouldn’t be surprised if they slipped as low as Wildcard this season because of the injuries taking their toll early before players got healthy. I stand by that. I think these injuries are going to continue to have a pretty tough impact on this team. They’ve lost their two best forwards to start the year and one of them is not going to come back this season as well as one of their more reliable veteran defensemen. So, I struggle to see how they will I mean they could any higher than third in the Atlantic would surprise me. I’m not I’m not going to lie to you. I think this is a wild card team with all these injuries. Um but if they do make the playoffs, I think again you could see a deep run by them because they’re just built for that style of game. The rules are different in the playoffs. So I’m not counting them out for playoffs, but I’m definitely tempering my expectations just due to all the injuries. And so I’m not shocked that they’re I’m a little surprised they’re sixth, but at the same time it’s so tight that it’s like a good sixth place. It’s like when you bogey a hole in golf after you after you shanked a shot, you’re like, “Oh, it’s a good bogey.” They’re in a good sixth place given all the injuries and how tight the Atlantic is. Yeah, like I said, they’re they’re literally a a regulation win away from being in third. Like right they’re they’re right there. So, I I I I tend to agree with you overall. I I think they’re also kind of set up to be a a maybe a a post Olympic break team. Like you go into the deadline, you can buy a little bit at the deadline from their perspective. You’re going to get Kachchuck back. You throw, you know, any new pieces you get in there and and you still just have the pieces for another run and can kind of get hot there in the last few months of the season. So, if they can just keep their heads above water from now until then, I I I think they’ll be fine. Um, another team I I kind of talked about it a little bit before the break there, but Ottawa gets off to their patented slow start, you know, the first week, two weeks of the season, and now in their last 10 games, has one regulation loss. They have gotten points in nine of their last 10 games and uh are now in third place. uh not tied with anyone, which is uh a rarity in this close of a division, but yeah, are outright just third place at the time of this recording. Do still have a a minus one goal differential on the season. Um they have given up the second most goals in the Atlantic, only two better than the Lapel than the Lapel Leaf Maple Leafs. Um than than the the Leafs that we just absolutely ragged on, right? the the Leafs are are 60 goals against on the year. The Suns are 58. Um but in that same breath, they they also um obviously minus one for those math wiz at home have 57 goals four, which is among the top in the division as well. So, another team that it seems to be a reoccurring theme in the Atlantic seems to be just kind of outscoring a lot of their problems, but Ottawa’s a little bit more of like a line in the sand of like, okay, before this date, they were struggling since then. They’ve been a lot better. Yeah, they went on like a goal explosion uh a couple like a week and a half ago, beating the Bruins 7 to2 and the Capitals 7 to1 I think in back-to-back nights. Uh they did then give a big number up to the Blackhawks losing seven to three but I think after that they are on a fivegame point streak. They won overtime loss overtime loss win-win. So I I think Ottawa is exactly where they I they’re exactly where I predicted them and again it’s keep repeating it just to remind people it’s airtight. That could change in a heartbeat with how close it’s been. Um but third place in the Atlantic I’m pretty sure that’s where I had them in preseason predictions. So, uh, even with the loss of Brady Kachchuck, they’re still playing a pretty high level. Um, Scotty, real quick, we we got to talk about the elephant in the room, and that’s the team that’s in first place. That’s the Montreal Canadians. And they are, you know, if if Boston is one, Toronto is two, I feel Montreal is three in terms of surprise at where they’re listed in the standings. They had a great year last year. Snuck into the playoffs as a wild card. got bounced in the fifth in five games by the Washington Capitals. Uh I think everyone kind of expected I that everyone’s a generalization. I at least expected them to regress a little bit to the mean, but they had made some nice acquisitions in Dobson and Buluk along with uh you know a rookie coming over from Russia to kind of bolster that and prevent that. And they’re off to a hot start. They’re what 103 and two 10 two and three something of that. 10 three and two. Yeah, 103 and two on top of the Atlantic division with 22 points. I mean, what do you make of the Canadians, dude? I hate how much I love watching this team play hockey. Uh cuz it’s it’s the Habs and like gross. But like I man, they they are they are are really fun and I there there’s a lot of players on this team that I like. You know, I we’ve been and this makes us sound way smarter than we are, but like we’ve been on the the train of like, hey, the you know, the Habs are coming like that Montreal is is on its way uh for the last couple of years now and obviously they took a big step forward last year. Now, I don’t anticipate them to win the Atlantic. That would be another monumental step forward, but like they have the personnel to hang, man. like they this is not a a flash in the pan like oh you know like what was the year was it two or three years ago now where the Ducks randomly were amazing for the first like three months and then didn’t even make the playoffs like this is not that this this is not just like a random outburst from a terrible team and they’re going to still end at the bottom of the division like this is a team that is talented has a young core in place that’s going to be there for a long time and I still I think there’s some questions about depth and um I don’t know a little bit maybe on the back end still, but like there’s there’s a lot of talent here and I I think like them to be in the playoffs I’m kind of like in on like I I I kind of like if we’re doing buy or sell like I I I kind of buy the Habs being a top four seed in the Atlantic by the end of the season. Yeah, they’re I think they’re playing way better than they are right now. And I don’t mean again I I certainly don’t expect them to win the Atlantic. I agree with that. They have the best shooting percentage in the NHL at five on five with 13%. That will regress. Their PDO right now is second best in the league at five on five at 104%. They have the fifth best power play. Yet their expected goal, Scotty, is I think 22nd in the league. Uh their expected goals four, I’m sorry, I apologize. the expected goals for for them uh is 27th in the league. So like they’re scoring way more goals. They’re finishing on way more shots than they should be right now. And I think that will regress. They’ll fall a little bit in the standings. But I agree with you that they are absolutely, you know, in that hunt for a wild card. Again, it’s going to be because again, this Atlantic division, there’s no team outside of Buffalo who’s exactly where we expected them to be is is out of this race. I every single one of these teams I can see making the playoffs if they just play their cards right. And right now early in the season, Montreal’s playing their cards right. They were hot. They’re fun. They’re full of confidence. And when you’re playing well, like the thing is sometimes you create your own luck, right? Like we say, “Oh man, the Wings just got unlucky.” Well, when you’re playing well, you’re playing aggressive, pucks tend to bounce your way more often because you’re creating that luck. And right now, they are. Eventually, Water will find its level. They’re not I don’t think they’re going to be like the Vancouver Canucks of two seasons ago where they had a PDO in the season of 117 and won the almost won the President’s Trophy. Didn’t they win the President? I don’t remember, but they were one of the best teams in the league that year. Um, but they’re playing unreal hockey right now. And I sell on them being number one in the Atlantic division, but I certainly buy on them and being, you know, a wildcard threat all the all the way throughout the season. Uh, Scotty, let’s head to another break. When we return, uh, we’ll finish up this conversation and we’ll talk a little bit about Todd Mlullen because he clarified his comments from the other day. Really? Well, we don’t really need to talk about Buffalo, honestly. In fact, that doesn’t come across. Buffalo really quickly. They are who we thought they were. Like, yeah, that the the thing is I expected them to be a like, oh, they still have a a really potent and effective offense, but they just give up a ton of goals. Um, that that hasn’t really been the case. They they actually their their goals against and their defensive numbers aren’t terrible. Their offense is putrid. They they have comfortably the fewest amount of goals scored in the Atlantic at the time of this recording. And uh I mean the the only way that they would turn it around is if they became the team they were two years ago and they just outscored all their problems. So I I think that’s really all I have to say on Buffalo. Yeah, their save percentage and shooting percentage at five on five is like right d smack dab in the middle league average. So it’s it’s not even like they’re underperforming, they’re overperforming. They’re kind of exactly where we expected them to be. They they are who we thought they were. Like you said, I I think Tampa’s really interesting though because they have had one of, and this is just using very very basic stats. I’m sure Brian will bless us with the more analytical side of things, but they have been one of the best teams in the entire NHL in goal prevention. Uh they they are so comfortably the fewest amount of goals allowed in the Atlantic. They’ve only given up 41 goals all year. The next closest team is the Habs at 47. Like that that’s that’s the same amount of games. That’s a sixgoal difference. Um the their offense is I mean they have the same amount of goals scored as the Red Wings, like a kind of a a middle of the packish team. Uh but their goal prevention has been so incredible that even without maybe a super highly productive offense, they find themselves in fourth place in the division and and seven and three in their last 10 games. Yeah, I know they started the season kind of cold, too. Uh they lost Oh my goodness. I they not just kind of cold, they were putrid to start the year. They lost 1 2 3 4 5 six seven of six of their first seven games they lost with an exception to a win against the Bruins and then they heat it heated up. Uh since then they’ve won 1 2 3 four five six seven of their last eight. So after losing six of seven, they’ve won seven of eight. So you have to be trying to do it right. It has to be on purpose. It’s not. I Dude, there’s only like six or seven games having been played at this point in the season. Like, what do you want? It’s just a number that’s going to be coming out of my mouth a lot this episode. Um, anyways, you were right. They are a staunch great defensive team. They always have been. And then they have some of the league’s most prolific scorers on their team over the past decade. On top of that, um, you said they ranked in the top five in goals, uh, goals against, fewest goals against, I should say. Uh they are fourth best and fourth fewest in expected goals against at five on five. So they’re getting the numbers they’re earning and like you said they’re their their goals against and their expected goals against are like right or goals four rather are right in the middle of the pack but they have Cuchov they have point they have Gensel like those are the scoring will come. Tampa I had pegged. I think they’re going to I think they’re still going to win the division. I think Tampa you know is still just finding their groove. the offense is going to wake up and they’re going to keep playing this good defensive game. They they’re their PDL right now is at 98%. So, there’s a little wiggle room for them to improve. Yeah, I this is like the lamest possible take ever. And I I want to preface that with acknowledging how ridiculously like obvious of a sentence this is going to be, but this is a team that I I think is poised to do really well in the postseason. And again, they have done nothing but be successful in the postseason for the better part of half a decade. So like I understand that that is not a uh a super hot take by any stretch of the imagination, but um just that that defensive brand. They they have obviously really good goalending, um really good defense, veteran guys that know how to win and be successful and go on deep runs. And to your point, I I don’t think this is even the ceiling of the offense. I think this is kind of a a I guess literally a sleeping giant, if you will. Um and and we know that they’re a giant based on, you know, the last five years. So, um yeah, I I think uh they’re middle of the pack for now, but I I think are probably trending upwards and that leaves us with the Detroit Red Wings, which I don’t even know if we need to do that because we talk about them literally every day. I I will say the same thing that I’ve said all the time and I because I still hold this belief despite the three-game losing streak and the offensive drought is it’ll level out. They’ll regress back to the mean in a positive way. They have the second worst PDO at five on five in the league right now. Their shooting percentage is one of the worst in the league right now at five on five. Again, second to worst like they that will they’re not going to shoot seven% the rest of the season. There are things they got to do to improve upon that and Todd Mlullen mentioned it in today’s practice media availability and that they need to get to the net. They’re not getting the net for rebounds, redirections are getting in front of the goalie’s eyes and that’s why they’re taking a bunch of shots but they’re not scoring on anything because they’re not getting to the areas where the puck is going to be after the initial shot. And so that will go a long way to them rebounding offensively. But the offense is going to come like they’re top top five, top 10 in shot attempts and expected goal share. They’re um let me see here. They are 11th in expected goal share at five on five. So I’m I’m holding steadfast for a little bit longer that I believe again. How much they will rebound it remains to be seen, but the scoring will rebound and they’ll start winning games. I think Detroit is still a better team than they’re playing right now. The offense will wake up because if it doesn’t, well, then we’re in for some trouble. Well, and I I don’t disagree with you. I think the only concern there is like we just talked about seven of the eight teams in the division from the context of like, oh yeah, like they’re maybe off to a slow start but could be really good or like, oh, they’re off to a really good start and and could still be, you know, playoff contenders or whatever. like that there’s it’s it’s a really really good division. Yes, it is. And that’s the biggest takeaway is man this division. That’s it. It’s just man this division. That’s the takeaway. I I hate it here. I want to play in a more a lighter division, man. I hate it here. Ever since we’ve moved to the East, man, it’s just been a a bloodbath. Um anyways, I I mentioned Tom McClon a second ago. He had that practice media availability and Scotty, he did kind of clarify his comments from the other day. We had fun speculating on what it could mean. Key sense said it came off in a way I did not mean. Steve is we didn’t bring Nate Danielson up in order to buy tickets for players to send them elsewhere. It’s like that’s not what he meant. He just wanted to see what they had in Danielson before they made player decisions with the guys on the roster for the roster as in like i.e. Michael Rasmusen as center, right? Like the conversation we’ve been having. So it it came off I think a little stronger than he intended and that’s why he clarified that he said may Steve Eisermanman is not to his knowledge shipping out any players at the moment. Right. Right. Which was always the most realistic scenario. But man did we have fun with that quote for 25 minutes yesterday. That was fun. We talk about that for 30 minutes though. Golly. Oh man. Golly on an off day. That that gave us all the juice we needed. All right, Scotty, do you have any final thoughts, man? We ball, baby. Uh, we do ball. We’ll be back with a new episode tomorrow. We have a game preview after two consecutive full off days. We’ll have a game preview of the Anaheim Ducks. Maybe we don’t have to preview them because we previewed them on Friday by accident. But, uh, we’ll do it again anyways. Stay tuned for that. Same time, same place. It’s your team every day. Every day.
The first month of the NHL season has been anything but chalk in the Atlantic Division. Montreal has surged to 22pts and the top of the Atlantic Division, while the Maple Leafs are fighting it out in 7th. But the gap between those two isn’t as big as you may think. Which teams in the Atlantic is real, and which are pretenders. #LGRW

Lalonde looked better as a broadcast personality rather than a coach.
Montreal wins because nobody pushes Montreal around while the wings have been pushed around since Yzerman has been here.
This team is the new Buffalo let's be honest it's so bad
What moron would bet on fan dual ?
Hear me out here, trade a combination of the following for Tage Thompson….. Compher, Berggren, Rasmussen( sorry Brian), Gustafsson and Holl as well as , say , a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Do you guys think it would work? Because I honestly think at this point in time it would be a great benefit to get him. Also another player I feel that Detroit would have a good chance of getting for a combination of previously stated players and pics would be Shane Wright. I still think he is an underrated player and very underused by the joke of the front office that is the Seattle Kraken. I asked to God think that Detroit will make the playoffs if they can get the special teams more solidified because they started off really good now they're fizzling out and also if they can like you guys say finish on their opportunities. Great show is always my friends Love you guys, stay frosty❤
Acting like things are so different while Detroit is right where they always are: The bottom half of the mushy middle.
Same issue as we have all been observing (at least the knowledgable fans): Yzerman drafting = A. Yzerman FA acquisitions = F. Red Wing draft luck = 0. No trades because all his FA acquisitions have NEGATIVE value in the market. That is we would have to pay for someone to take our cartload of non-skating veteran turds.
I'm jus sayin kno what I'm sayin. You counting my know what I'm sayins. You from the know what I'm sayin census Edit: you can not be feelin this
Why is it other organizations have dramatically turned things around in much less time?
Whomever thought it was a good idea to sign Holl, Hamonic, Compher & JVR, should be working at a McDonalds in Alpena.
These two guys are boring at best.
Thge expectations have always been high but the results have been disapointing year after year. I like McClellan a lot but the players just aren't getting it done. Ray L
Talking analytics makes hockey sound super LGBT…
If Red Wings played in ny other division they would make it to the playoffs by now
Put together a "Kid Line". Finney, Kasper, Danielson.
