Dolphins fans are DONE — Omar Kelly sounds off
are kind of um it’s the best way I can uh describe my my reaction, my feelings. Um but the focus has to be and will continue to be um our football team relative to the next opponent, which is uh the Buffalo Bills this week. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel there. It’s time to head out to the Toyota of Hollywood hotline shop over 2,000 Toyotas on sale, one location, Toyota of Hollywood on 441 between Hollywood and Sheridan. Toyota of Hollywood.com. All right, Woody. The uncontrollable Omar Kelly, Miami Herald Dolphins columnist, joins us this morning. Omar, how you doing? That would be an accurate way to describe it. Joe, hey. So, uh, Omar, uh, you expect any more trades today? Mink Fitzpatrick’s name’s been out there. Sounds like they’ve talked to him. If we get the right deal, you okay leaving and going to a competitive? You You think something happens there? Uh, I think something happens there. I think something happens with Chub. Um Dallas has already talked about they’ve got a couple of trades on the table. I wouldn’t be shocked if either of those players ended up in Dallas. Um you know, Jerry’s just not ready to pull the trigger because I guess he’s still going for Trey Hendrickson and Max Crosby. It’s it’s a yard sale. I don’t know why people call it a fire sale cuz I I don’t get fire sale. Do we do we have fire sales? Like it’s it’s a yard sale. It’s a clearance sale. Like, you want it, come get it. Yeah. No, no, no. Just about every Just about everybody on the team for the right draft pick, you can have. You’re You’re right. I I don’t I mean, we’re a little thin at some positions where they’re going, “Hey, hey, hey, we we need I don’t even know if it matters, Joe, cuz if they trade Minka, they’re probably going to have to add a safety, but at this point, what do you care?” Yeah. So, uh anything surprise you, uh the last few days that happened with the team? Did Did you think Mike was going to make it after the Ravens game or did you think it was going to be Chris coming from the top going down? Oh, I I did not think I honestly I did not think it was going to be Chris. I knew Chris would be removed from, you know, making football decisions, but I didn’t know that he was going to be, you know, mutually parting ways or exit the program. Um, yeah. Uh, they don’t like that term, especially when you get your whole salary. Um uh that that did surprise me. But I get it. I understand it. Joe, do you know I have probably on my fourth friend who has told me that they’re cancelling season tickets. They’re not renewing. They’ve lost interest. I’ve got friends who say I’m I you know who I know they watch every second of Dolphins football who are like I’m not even watching. I don’t Yeah. No, I’ve got it. I’ve got it too. I got it from family. Even the family down here said, I’m done. I’m just Yeah, I’m done. What What are we doing? I get that. What are we doing? I’m done. I It’s not even What are we doing? It’s I don’t care. And I’ve always told fans Steve Ross’s worst nightmare is apathy. Is is the fans not caring? And all of these people who are responsible for, you know, getting the season tickets renewed, uh they’re just being hung up on. And they’re just being told, you know, when when when you fire Mike, you know, you call me back, you know, we’re I’m not. And and one guy was like, he’s had his tickets for 20 years. He’s got the greatest seats. He’s like, I don’t care anymore. Yeah. Hey, uh so so Omar, um because I get this now, and this probably number one, is Mike going to make the cut after this season? I think he’s definitely here for the season, but you you think he’s back for next year? Uh I wouldn’t even guarantee that he’s here for the season. I’m I’m I’m still watching the by-week. Um, you know, Buffalo, I’m I’m sorry. You can’t lose to Baltimore, Buffalo, Washington, especially in an embarrassing fashion. And I think that could potentially be what happens and then return. Um, now the question is who would be the interim coach? I I I don’t think Mike is safe. I think that’s you say what you need to say in order to keep the team locked in and focused. But when you start trading players away and and having a f having a yard sale, um you know, players players, they they know what time it is. Um the question is, you know, can Mike still keep them motivated? And and and that’s a question I have for this week. Yeah. I mean, it’s Buffalo. Yeah. If you can’t get up for this game, something’s wrong. Right. Right. This uh this is the Yeah, I I I get and I’m sure they they watched that game and and they saw that Buffalo looked pretty damn good. the way they uh they played in that game. So, um let’s talk about Tua. I can’t not talk with Tua. What uh what’s your take on Tua going forward? Uh he’s going to start the rest of the season. We both agree, right? He he’s not I agree with Mike. As long as Mike is still here and as long as Mike or whoever is coaching the team has not been instructed to sit to a uh he’s going to start. Hell, Mike won’t even make Quinn Yurus the primary backup, which I don’t get. I don’t understand. It doesn’t make any sense. If you’re investing in all of your young players and you’re having them grow and develop, why would you make Quinn yours the exception? Yeah. No, it’s a good point. It’s a good point. Now, for sure, man. If if we’re playing all these young guys, there’s only one guy on this rookie class. Well, we got one defensive tackle been inactive a lot, but uh yeah, you’re like, “Hey, we might as well.” Why is he not playing either over I’m That one bothers me, too. Over Malcolm Butler. What? What are we doing here? Like what if if we’re if we’re about investing in the young players and having them cut their teeth and and this is about the future and development, why is Zeke bigger not playing and why is Quinure not the number two backup? Like let’s not be a hypocrite about what we’re doing. Yeah. Um so so just uh off that um the cap the cap is is the dead cap money is uh Yeah. It’s so so Tyreek Hill and and Bradley Chub the the numbers no matter what happens it’s it’s going to be a lot but and and I wanted to ask you more specifically about so I like Austin Jackson I I as a guy I I do but I if you can’t play after a while and you miss all these games and I’m not saying it’s his fault nobody gets I always say this as a former player nobody gets injured on purpose but my god He’s missed so many games. I can’t count on you. I can’t keep you. You agree? You you uh No, I don’t agree. And in fact, they just touched Austin Jackson’s contract, borrowing a little bit from it, which makes it even more complicated to cut him. But that’s that’s just part for the course for this team in terms of bad roster management, bad contracts, bad books. Their books are horrible. They have been for a while. Um Brandon Shore I am not a fan of. I’ve never been a fan of his work. Um that’s uh uh that that when you look at like I who is it that they just touched your contract and then added some void years I think Jordan Brooks for what? Like you know if you’re going to if you’re going to touch Jordan’s contract or you think he’s part of the future, restructure the deal. Give him his whole salary. Get you know add some real years to the contract. Probably Jordan won’t be here long term or or I’m not Oh no, but he’s had a hell of a year, man. I’ll tell you what. through everything. That guy plays his ass off. Nobody blocks out noise better than that guy. Oh. Oh. No. You know what it was? It’s there. I think to to to do No, I’m not going to say that. I’ll wait till the contract’s out. But, you know, they paid $5 million of of of of um of um Jaylen Phillips’s salary just to get up from a fourth to a third. Like, why? Like, what do you what do you seriously? What? Like, do does anybody care about Steve Ross’ money or or the fact that this man just continues to waste money because you guys are irresponsible with it? So, I I I got to ask you off this because I I’ve been hearing about Brandon Shore and I’m trying, you know, I he he’s a money guy. I know he’s he understands and he’s got a group that works with him on the cap. Is this him or is this coming from the GM to him or is he just running things like this is what it’s going to take, let’s do it, or how’s that work? Uh, I don’t know. And anytime I speak on it, I get in trouble. So, I I’m that he’s he’s ultra protected. So, I’m not going to say anything. All I can say is the Dolphin’s financial books have been very mismanaged and handled irresponsibly since Donna Ponti left the program. Mike Mike my Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Tannibal did it poorly. Brandon Shore is definitely doing it poorly. Um they just they they operate off living off credit cards and it just makes a And you’re saying at some point you got to pay that debt off. That’s why all those commercials let me help you pay off your debt. Yeah. No, no. It’s it’s I can’t afford all my Yeah, I got you. It’s it’s next year now. all all the people who are saying, “Oh, we should get rid of Tua and do this for Tua.” And unless unless some team wants to trade for Tua, which I think is still a possibility. There are a lot of teams with worse quarterback situations in the NFL. Unless some team wants to trade for Tua, he you’re he’s on the books for next year. And then after that, you’re going to take a a nasty cap hit if you want to get rid of him or you want to move him or you want to release him, whatever, whatnot. I I I honestly don’t think two is even worried about it. He’s got his money. Um, if you give me 15, by the way, I agree with you. All right. I I agree. When I when I see him and the way he is confident, I go, man, that there’s a guy got his money. He says, “Hey, whatever it is you guys, whatever I say or whatever I do or don’t do, I got mine.” Honestly, Joe, he’s been like that before. He got money. Two is just candidly honest. And I I I always appreciate and respect it. Now, you know, I’m curious if he will if I ask him how does he feel about what’s going on around here considering, you know, uh the last time they did it was basically to get you uh h you know, how you feeling about it. I I guarantee you he give you an honest answer. Omar, Omar, I just got to say this to you, man. And you and I disagree on a lot of things. We watch the same things. We disagree. A lot of times you’re right and I’m wrong. I’m not saying I’m always right. A lot of times you’re right and I’m wrong. But I gotta tell you, my man, I don’t believe we could just flat out trade to a and a team will take them without us throwing in a lot of money. I don’t believe anybody’s taking Oh, of course. Of course you’re going to throw in a lot of money, but I think only seven I think seven million is the like the max you could throw in. Of course you’re going to do that. Steve Russell always does that. He threw in a lot of money for you to take Jaylen Ramsay off his hands. Like you know Ryan Tanahill $7 million. 7 million is like his his going and parting gift to a team that wants to trade for his draft. I didn’t know about that Philly thing. That’s the first time I’d heard that. So, we had to throw in money with uh half million dollars. Joe um they’re only responsible for 1.5 million of his $6.2 million. Wow. So, you know, it it it is what it is. I was shocked that they can get a third for him because, you know, he’s he’s a rental right now. I mean, if if Dolphins want to resign him next off seasonason, they could do that. They’re not gonna Phillyy’s not going to tag him. So, he’s going to be a unrestricted free agent. He’s going to get to come go wherever he wants. But here’s the thing about Philly situation because he’s on their books. If they lose him, they get a compensatory pick for him. So, they get a third or fourth form. Yeah. Um and the way the way they’re operating, I think they got like threeirds coming back. They got they got a ton of draft picks. My god. You talked about it yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. So they, you know, I just heard uh Chris Long say something that I never thought about. You know, they were inactive in free agency. Let their top free agents go. And what they’re doing is they’re just using the draft. They’re just using the compensatory picks right now to to for free agency. Yeah. Yeah. Right. To go get go get what they need. I saw Jaylen I saw Jaylen last night, my buddy for that does NBC Sports call text me this morning or last night. I just got it this morning and he said, “Man, he sure looks like a happy cat coming here.” Had a big smile at the airport, man. But hey, he’s got a chance he’s got a chance to make himself a lot of money over these last eight games in the playoffs. Absolutely. And I I spoke to him about I told him that this is going this is probably going to happen like three weeks ago. And he’s like he was shocked and and stunned and didn’t understand. This is this is the private conversation I have with players. And I’m like, you have you have some control over the situation. So, make sure you talk to your agent and and make sure you end up where you want to go. But I knew they were going to shop him. I I knew they were going to sell him. Hey, he gets Omar, he gets four or five sacks the rest of the season and plays well in the playoffs and he’s 26 years old. He can make himself some money. They’re going to forget about those injuries like yesterday’s news, man. For sure. No, there is there is no doubt in my mind that he was the Dolphins’s best defender. Yes, he was not delivering on sacks, but if you actually watch the game, you see he still has impact. Now, if Vic Fangio can Oh, by the way, I would love for him to be interviewed for the Dolphins head coach position. You’d at least know what’s wrong with your franchise if you sit Steve Ross and you sit down with him. Ain’t going to happen. But go ahead. Why wouldn’t it happen? They bringing him back. He left after one year. He couldn’t get out of here fast enough. He ain’t coming back. You’re right. You’re right. He ain’t coming back and deal with South Beach. South Beach where you’re hanging out in those clubs. He doesn’t want his players hanging out with you down there. I was wondering where you were going to get to that. Hey Omar, live to you brother. Hey man, I can tell you I can tell you where the pictures are coming from. Mr. Halloween party man. Look like you’re enjoying yourself. Hey Omar, I got to let you run man. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. And you keep living, man. you if you got to break out occasionally, you break out. Oh, it’s coming to Madrid with me, Playboy. So, okay. All right. That’s good to know right there. Thanks, Omar. See you. All right. us.

Omar sounds dumb a 3rd is better than a 4th.. 1st 2nd 3rd should get you starters.. 4ths get you developmental players which we have enough of.. And I wish he stop pushing for tua.. smh
I think Tua might do ok playing for a team with a dome – like he did in college, and the recent Atlanta game. He needs to be somewhere where the weather and turf is always perfect. At least he'll be competitive in half of his games!
The fans apathy is a reflection of the owner's apathy in doing what is right for the organization. He has brought nothing but embarassment to S. Fla. football fans. Ross really doesn't care about winning. He only cares about the marketing & money it brings him. He has singlehandly made the Dolphins the joke of the NFL.
I don't care if we lose every game the rest of the year as long as we BEAT BUFFALO! Get your big backs in the "I" formation, use your TE's, trap block, run a TE side tackle eligible in the RedZone and Wood-Strock your QB's. Run them over and let them scratch their heads.
That's why Dawn Aponte left!
Money ruined Tua. He got paid and got lazy. When you're paid to do nothing – you do nothing (but get two sleeves of tattoos and grow deadlocks). Big money made Tua a head-case and now he's turning into TyFreak.
Trade Tua for a kicker
Omar the Tuaneer 🤡
Sorry not watching Tua throwing hundreds of balls at the line of scrimmage. Fan since 1966 this is embarrassing and want them to get rid of Tua and McDaniel. They are going to get steam rolled this week. Tua needs to sit a career backup he has no arm no speed and can't take a hit. Stop it already bench him. Sell at the deadline.
This season it will be an early switch to the NHL and the Cats …
Don’t get anything in return if it is in the future draft pick
Omar the realist, Calls it accurately.
This weekend miami loses to buffalo at home MR ROSS FIRE MCDANIEL HES THE PROBLEM WHAT MORE EVIDENCE DO YOU NEED PLAYERS ARE SAYING IT A RESPECTABLE DEFENSE CORDINATOR SAID IT MCDANIEL MCDANIEL MCDANIEL IS THE PROBLEM
No offense to champ new intern gm….but if she's interested dawn aponte should be the new gm she'll make history an get the money right she'll get the championship team…its time
Achane n Waddle should be untouchable unless u got 2 1st!!!
Trade chubb Sieler and 2027 4th to 49ers for a
2026 2nd and 3rd
Let's see what we got in the youth chop is a keeper
Trade Tua ,Minkah 2026 2nd 2027 1st, 3rd and Tahj Wash!
To the Bucks for Baker Mayfield and Emeka Egbuka
Offensive Change Immediately Baker is a win now
If Ewers is good keep him as number 2 but right now Baker is a beast we need a QB who is confident and can throw he's him. He took browns to the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP they loss and traded him
I think we should make that move he's compassionate great energy for a qb
Justin Herb and Trevor Lawrence
Is the only other qb's I feel can be great to trade for.
Trade 2026 1st for Rob Hunt get him back to Miami run game open up major
Demote McDaniel to OC Take the leash off of him! Get the qb he needs we should start Ewers the rest of the season.
Resign Chris Grier as scout asistant scout or assistant gm. Take the cuffs off him and your next official GM. He wasn't the problem. Grier have some good picks over the years n a lil help in the office would be great! If we trying to win.
Laremy Tunsil
Austin Jackson
Rob Hunt
Chris Wilk
Xav Howard
Minkah Fitzpatrick
J Waddle
J Phillips
J holland
Achane
Tua
Win, lose or draw ❤love Dolphins 🐬.
The 2024 to 2026 seasons are reset years.😢😢😢😢
2027-28 Super Bowl Championship Dynastic era 😊😊😊😊
Thats a good thing I'm so glad to see and hear that the Miami fans have finally come around and said enough is enough already , Salute to the fans 👍
It makes more sense to get through the year with McDaniel, let him go and let the new GM pick his coach.
Buffalo by 50
Best thing to do is stop spending your money on the dolphins. And hit them where it hurts.Financially
Fire sale… called it… wanted Grier FIRED years ago after his first three first pick draft with Tua, Jackson and some corner that’s been traded years ago. Mcdaniels will be gone. He’s not capable of leading men.
Im umm.. done..umm…with this…ummm. . S**tshow..ummm..of a team..ummm…
They shouldn't be trading their assets, especially if we're paying 5 mill to Philly – S.O.D. (same old dolphins) –
Kelly will never speak of Grier in a negative light….
Could they send Tua and picks to the Raiders? Similar to the Osweiler trade?
Now we're entering yet another rebuild, which means at least 2-3 years of losing, if not more. Even when this one is complete, there's no guarantee the next regime can win. This feels endless!
Tua's stock has dropped so low that he'll have no takers.
This front office has made such a disaster and mess of things in last 10,years that it will take over 5 years to make any kind of play offs, boy are we in bad shape, this process should have begun 2 years ago.
Been a fan for 51 years! Gave up my tix 2 years ago after 13 seasons and didn't live in Florida for that whole time. Plus we would hit an away game also.
Management screwed my tickets golfing buddy by canceling his seats
Can't watch anymore grew up withJoe Robbie and coach Shula they made this organization and Ross has destroyed it he can go fuck himself .
Can somebody relay this message to Tua is he a robot because I'm wondering he's like a statue 🗿 in the pocket he doesn't pump fake no shoulder fake no fakes 1 fake per game is he even human I'm wondering 🤔
Do NOT be surprised if Kelly maneuvers it so Ross gives him the permanent GM job. A shame. Another Grier hire, experience with two dysfunctional teams, the Bears and Raiders. So Dolphins.
Omar is a player first guy, not always a realist.
In the last 15 years I’ve bought one jersey and one hat. Purposefully boycotting until the product in the field isn’t garbage
They will never give up their season tickets. They have been brainwashed for so many years!
After last season I already knew i was not purchasing my Sunday ticket to watch the dolphins this season since i live in denver. I'm to the point now where i don't care anymore and it's sad. This should not be happening year after year with this franchise. Sad
Omar's take are always wrong. Dudes a 🤡
Owner got to go
Miami was willing to part with Waddle but Denver did not want to give a 1st Rd pick for a player who's still in his prime 🤨
Tell Ross to call his buddy Trump to make up the difference in ticket sales…. I am sure Trump would entertain that….
For all those done fans? Bye😂Finsup
I'm hoping for a blackout don't buy more tickets period
