Yankees & Mets Hot Stove| News & Rumors| MLB Lying About Japanese Players?

Where is Spencer Jones fitting into this team next year? He’s not. He’s not. Just don’t talk about him, please. Cuz we’re we’re trying to keep him a secret. They’re hiding Spencer Jones like Frankenstein right now. Okay. They tell you tales about him. They’re like, “I heard he hit 30 home runs. I heard he ate a man in one full bite.” He strikes out 200 times a year. Okay. Just like every other New York Yankee. He can’t play the outfield either. Okay, the the Yankees are desperate for a center fielder. They’re looking to overpay for Cody Bellinger to bring him back to the New York Yankees when they could pay Spencer Jones, who just hit 30 home runs and make $900,000 a year to play center field for the next 5 years. So, make that make sense. It’s New York minutes. So, what’s the mission statement in Major League Baseball right now? you have to copy the Blue Jays to win a World Series, which they didn’t. Okay? And two, you need to go get a Japanese player, if not sooner, right? So, guess what? You already missed the boat. Okay? The batch of Japanese players you should have got have were in the last 3 to five years. These guys that they’re offering us now are the scraps. Okay? the first baseman that Murakami, this dude, he hits 35 home runs. He’s a Japanese Richie Saxon. Okay. Yeah. He hits 202, strikes out a lot, doesn’t do well. Well, I’m going to give you the Japanese pitcher that ke um came to he came to America with tons of injur with tons of injury history. We get the guy who the Dodgers didn’t want. So, whoever the Dodgers and the Angels don’t want the leftovers. We get the rest of them. Yes. The leftovers since Thanksgiving. Take it back to Kasmatsu, right? You remember Kasmatsu? Yeah. Mr. Mr. opening day leadoff home run guy. Yeah, I know him. The Yankees go get the big time Godzilla Matt Suie. And then what do the Mets do? Oh, that that guy’s name is Matt Sooie. He’s going to be just as good. Let’s sign him. Let’s move Jose Reyes to second base and let this guy play shortstop. And look how that worked out. That’s whoever the Dodgers don’t want. And if the Dodgers don’t want one of these guys, stay as far away from them as humanly possible. You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to sign Marakami. He’s going to be He’s going to want to play first. We’re going to stick him at third. He’s going to look brutal at third base. Then we’re going to move him to first. He’s going to hit 18 home runs in his first year, hit 234, and then everyone’s going to be complaining about it. It’s just exactly what happens. Yeah. Um, you know how the Yankees are talking about going after I just put a a video out on uh New York Minute Sports on YouTube about it. Uh, the two pitchers that the Yankees need. So, like it seems like Brian Kman is bending over backwards to go get the international presence on his team because then it’s the international market, more money into the team. Like guys at home, you know, it’s just not um it’s just not getting a player for the team that’s good. It’s everything that goes into it. It’s the 100 press credentialed people that you need. It’s the Japanese influence. It’s the Japanese people because the I’m not even going to try to pronounce his name. The right-handed Japanese pitcher from the Lions in the NPB. Okay. I’ve literally seen him pitch in games cuz I have that Japanese TV channel on my computer that’s like in some Japanese lady’s uh kitchen. So my point is is that I think that all teams just want a Japanese guy for a Japanese guy. Look at that Chicago Cubs pitcher. He just went back to the Japanese leagues. And then you have a guy, this Japanese pitcher looks undersized. He looks like a small guy. He looks like Bronson Aoyo. That’s who he reminds me of if you look at his uh style, right? But the problem is Brunson Aoyo was very good for five or six years, but he never had enough relish on his hot dog. He induced ground balls and when he didn’t start getting the ground balls, that’s when he had to leave baseball. But a winning player played for the Red Sox, played for the Cincinnati Reds, would had a really good year. But when a guy like Michael King is available, when all you need is a four or fifth starter on this team and Michael King has pitched in New York, not only has he pitched in New York, Mike, he’s closed. He’s been middle relief. He sold some hot dogs against the Devil Rays. He’s done it all. So, he can pitch here. He’s young. He’s 6’4, 235 pounds. The guy’s got all the stuff in the world. He’s a ground ball pitcher. Hello. Hello. You can have him for 12 to 15. These Japanese players also another thing, Mike, you know how the uh it works with free agency in the Japanese leagues? No. Okay. So the way that it works is is that a guy can either come over here as a free agent or he has restrictions against him. It’s almost kind of like European football where you can buy the rights to somebody. But instead of buying the rights, if you are held under the rights and contract of your team like Hideki Matsui was, Hideki Matsui wasn’t a free agent. The US team has to pay the Japanese team for the rights for the player. Then they signed them to a $6.5 million international deal. So, not only did those Japanese did the Dodgers get uh like the Angels got Otani for $6 million. So, if you were able to get this right-handed pitcher for $6 million for five years, get him in the door, I’d say absolutely sign off on a heartbeat. But when they are free agents, you got to sign him like everybody else. So now this guy is going to dictate $138 million for a guy that hasn’t even thrown a ball in the major leagues before. The Yankees had that problem with Tanaka. Remember Mer Tanaka who wore 18? His uh his lady was a a K-pop singer. Oh yeah. Came over here. He hurt his elbow. He never got surgery and then he was just hurt for the rest of his career. He’s still pitching over in Japan now. He’s he’s pitching for the Yummy Giants. That’s the thing with these like I just saw Jeff Pass put out a um a tweet about the the the Japanese pitcher that’s coming out and it said it’s going to his contract could could demand anywhere between 80 to 200 million. What what the hell does that mean? Yeah. What does that mean? And who dict who dictate that player? Uh for I’m trying to type and speak at the time. I don’t think that worked out too well. I don’t know his name, but he I saw like a lot of Mets fans are clamoring for the guy because he has long hair and they remind them of Deg Grom. And if you think that this guy is the Gro, I don’t know. People need Is it really if you think about it, it’s really dumb how people start to like things, myself included. Yeah, we all good. We all fall for traps sometimes. Like you you like Dan Se because of the WWE. Like I like like guys like Kohlick because he’s a scrappy white guy. Like I love calling people out. Like when I go to the Knicks games, I love to call people out, you know? I like that Colick kid, you know? And it’s usually coming from a guy that looks like me. I’m like, “Oh yeah, why do you like him so much?” And then you got you got Josh Hart who just placed third in triple doubles his whole career. And I’m like, you know, I think he’s the problem with the New York Knicks. a [ __ ] [ __ ] Guy’s playing out of his mind, bro. Well, at the time we weren’t wrong. Uh, no, no, at the time I wasn’t wrong, but you know, you know how it is. I get guys commenting on this YouTube channel. It’s like, you think that’s going to happen? It’s like, bro, you comment on something that died in 11 minutes, six days later. Like, the one thing you guys got to remember if you’re watching this show and and people that watch this show, thank you. I appreciate it. But like the videos we make die so quickly that if it’s useless. I have hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel that no one’s ever going to go back and watch because it’s old stale news. Pick up a newspaper from three years ago and go read it. There’s nothing there anymore. No, no, really. I want you to do that. I want you to read a paper, Mike. So anyway, talk Mets free agency. I’ve been talking enough. I got enough coffee in me. So, I don’t know. I mean, it’s it’s um I’m scared. I’m worried. I know you are scared about this. Uh you should be. I I saw the preliminary um offers that were given to Peter Lonzo and Edwin Diaz. Yeah, please enlighten us because I want to know what’s going on in Metland. And I think that if they don’t sign these deals, I think it’s very fair for both teams. Reportedly, Diaz was offered four years 88 million, which would put him at AAVwise the highest closer of all time. And then Alonzo was offered three for 102 at 34 per year, which would give him highest AV for the first baseman of all time. How do you turn that down? How do you turn that down? So, hold on. You’re telling me they offered them both of these things and they both turned it down. Well, as of right now, that’s what’s on the table. There’s Okay, so it’s just like Trent Gisham. Nothing’s been So, right now, Yankees and Met fans, if you’re just joining us live, we’re doing this live Sunday show. What’s up? We got in purgatory, baseball purgatory right now because I just got back from church so I guess it’s on the mind. Edwin Diaz, Trent Gisham, and Pete Alonzo. All technically free agents, but they’ve been offered a qualifying offer. Trent Gisham of 22 million. Give me those. Do you have the numbers on those again one more time? Uh Diaz has offered four years for 88 million, 20 22 per year, highest of all time for a closer. Alonzo 3 years 102 34 per year which would be highest AAV of all time for a first baseman. All right cuz I just got finished doing a video on the two pitchers that the New York Yankees need. One of them being Edwin Diaz, the other one of being Michael King. Also, I forgot to mention before Lucas Glo, the Mets should be all over that [ __ ] guy. Yeah, he’s a sleeper that no one’s talking about. Yo, man, he had a great year last year. He’s a gamer. He’s He’s been on losers. He was on the White Socks. He’s been the winners. He was on the Red Sox. The guy is tough as nails. The Mets need him. I don’t know why the Mets need to have four new [ __ ] starting pitchers on this team next year and gear the [ __ ] up and go for it. Either [ __ ] or get off the pot, Mets. Either you’re gonna either you’re here, you’ve arrived with Uncle Stevie, or half me half measures avail. Go out and get my buddy Mike some [ __ ] pitching, please, because he’s not going to be able to last much longer with this. I can’t mentally I won’t be able to handle this anymore because that’s I don’t know. I can’t go into another year with Shawn Maniah as my ace starting pitcher and that’s bringing up some Well, dude, hey, listen, man. Uh, Maniah was the Jonathan Lewis of the New York Yankees this year. Both franchises were relying on him desperately. When he showed up into the building, he let us down. He wasn’t the same guy as last year, and that was a big problem, bro. I was all over him. First of all, talk about liking guys because of their names and [ __ ] I thought he was Omar Maniah’s nephew or son, so that’s why I wanted him. I’m like, “It’s a great story. He’s Omar Maniah’s kid.” They’re like, “No, he’s not.” You know, there’s more people in this country named Maniah than just one guy that pitches for the Mets and GMs for the Mets and Yankees. So, I said, “Yes, but we’re in that like lull right now with baseball. Every everybody’s waiting for the first domino to fall so then everybody else could start getting paid.” And we’re in that like 21 day period after baseball season ends where we all just sit here and tickle ourselves. So, let’s speak about the MVP. Otani judge win the MVP, right, bro? When I was making a post for Instagram, I saw this. Barry Bonds won an MVP three times in four years. Twice. Told you. From 90, 91, and 93 on the Pittsburgh Pirates with Bobby Bo and Andy Van Slike. Okay. Then you had him on the San Francisco Giants. Juiced Barry. That’s why I say even before he was on the Giants and juicing, he already had a Hall of Famer career. He had three MVPs in four years. Even before when he was 135 pounds soaking wet. But Aaron Judge wins another MVP. I I don’t It doesn’t do anything for me, Mike. Would it do anything for you for a Met fan if you guys won the MVP? No. I remember I remember I I asked you this a few times over the course of the year where I’m like at what point as a Yankee fan these accolades are so much fun to watch man and you love to sit through every season has its own story and every MVP is going to have its own story attached to it but at the end of those MVPs and those attachments as a Yankee fan how many more MVPs do you have to see? You know the guy’s one of the greatest of all time and it’s great accomplishments but you want to see that championship at some point. So, you got to remember in my lifetime I started watching the New York Yankees in 1988. Okay, I know guys, it existed before the cell phone. I started watching them in 88. My whole lifetime, I think it might have been a year after Mattingly won it. But in my whole lifetime, until Alex Rodriguez came over from the Texas Rangers, I had never seen a Yankee win an MVP in my life. Think about that. That was almost 20 something years without an MVP. And then finally, Alex Rodriguez was the first one. And and then that’s what the argument I would make with people when I actually stuck up for A-Rod. I think he had 57 home runs that year and 130 his MVP year. Uh so anyway, I would be like, “Dude, how could you get on this guy’s case? He just won us a [ __ ] MVP.” And everyone’s like, “Who cares about MVPs? We want Hardway World Series. And that’s a good point, man. And that’s the reason I want Edwin Diaz on the New York Yankees is because we haven’t won a chip since Mariano Rivera walked out the building. No one really talks about that since ‘ 09. Mo’s last year. We haven’t won [ __ ] And we don’t have a closer. We’ve tried to patch it up. Chapman’s never been a good postseason. I know he’s got rings, but he almost blew that World Series for the for the Chicago Cubs. He he he didn’t even look good with Boston this year when he played you against the Yankees. He’s not good. I Well, the first game he was lights out, the third game he kind of came up in mop-up time, but yeah. No, no, he’s not good. The Altuve home run, I know there might been the sensors and [ __ ] like that, but let’s let’s just play it fair for a second. He gave up that home run, you know? I It’s very hard to know what’s coming and hit it over the fence still, Mike. you know. Yeah. Like if the Yankees were to sign Diaz though for 20 it would take 20 plus sign him for 28 million. Oh yeah. He doesn’t turn that down. You just you just paid LEV Dev $16 million this year to do whatever you call that. to throw a change up and then throw an air bender and then to throw a change up and then you have a 94 mph fastball to try to establish that change up and people hit it over the [ __ ] fence. Okay, I want the trumpets. All right, I want them in Yankee Stadium. So you you take the money off the books from Devin Williams, which is $18 million. You allocate that towards Diaz is it? throw 10 million more on that [ __ ] You got 78 million coming off the books. Not to mention, you got Labb Dev’s money coming off the books. Then you got Marcus Strowman’s money coming off the books. That’s another $18.8 million. So literally, you just take Strowman’s salary, you plug that into Diaz is it? Then Cody Bellinger, right? You take the 5 million away from Trent Gisham, add it onto Cody Bellinger’s contract, that makes it $33 million. So now you’ve taken two different contracts, you’ve allocated them into two different players. Now even if you want, go [ __ ] get Trent Gisham. Give him his 20. Give him his pound of flesh. Give him some [ __ ] mustache wax. So where would the where would the changes come from? From trades. I’m sorry. What’s this? Where would the changes come? I have this debate with Met fans sometimes because they say bring Pete back. Bring these guys back. But the more we allocate the funds into the guys we’re bringing back, it’s going to be harder. You had the same team. It’s gonna be pretty much the same thing. I don’t think closer is that big of a problem for the Yankees, but obviously getting the best one in baseball. It kind of is because I I I don’t know. You guys, the Mets, are in a kind of a position where the New York Yankees were last year with Juan Sodto, where to retain Juan Sodto, we’re just going to have the same team we just lost the World Series with. Yeah. So, for you guys to go out and spend money, it’s going to be the same team that you just missed the playoffs with. Yeah. I I want I want this I want the complete opposite of that. I think everyone does. I just Dude, it I I listen, man. I’m, you know, I’m not on some Mets [ __ ] but I feel for you guys. Like I told you, my grandfather ran the phones in Chase Stadium for years, for years. And I I do like the Mets, but this town is rocking when the [ __ ] Mets and Yankees are in the playoffs. Like, bro, this place is awesome in October because literally on Long Island, you got some of the best [ __ ] weather of the year in October. You got Met fans happy, you got Yankee fans happy, everyone. I got a high five from a Met fan two years ago on my walk. So, wearing a Yankee jersey. He’s like, “Let’s go play.” He literally said, “Let’s go playoffs.” Let’s go playoffs. I Hey, man. He was He was feeling it. I was letting him roll. I wasn’t I wasn’t uh correcting anything on that. Let’s go playoffs. Yeah, the Yankees don’t need him. But guess what? The Yankees didn’t need AJ Bernett when they won the World Series in 2009. Okay, this is what the old Yankees are. But you kind of say that they don’t need him, but we do. The Yankees were 24th in in bullpen last year. Well, every team could use Diaz, but it’s like I think the biggest problems with what both teams are going to have to do is they’re going to have to get both GMs are going to have to get extremely creative in the trade market. Yes. And with some of these prospects that we’re just all honing on to. We just love hoarding every one of these prospects. And then there’s no positions for them to come up and play. Yankees had it last year with all these guys they could have brought up and they didn’t do it. Mets had it with the pitching. They couldn’t bring these guys up till late August. At some point, these two GMs are going to have to get real creative and start trading away some of these guys and making some of these blockbuster type deals that come back and help us win these goddamn games. Yeah. Uh the what I was going to say is the Edwin Diaz, he does make sense because why don’t you guys want to bring him back is the question. The Sterns would love to bring him back, but not at cuz no matter how good relievers are, dude, they’re all fickle. Every single year, something could tweak wrong for a reliever. You see it all the time with these guys. I don’t see it with Diaz, but Diaz has also had two pretty bad seasons with the Mets out of the six that he’s been here. The other four have been pretty lights out. I I don’t mind the It’s the years with Diaz. It’s not about the money. They don’t want to go five years with a closer who’s already past the age of 30. They’ll stick at four and they’ll just stay right there. I don’t think they want to go past that that fifth year. Mike, I think you’re exactly right. This is not going to get they’re going to have to get really creative because the first of all, the free agent market is thin. The best guy that the guy the best guy that gets something out of that is Tucker because he is the bell of the ball in a really weak free agency year. He’s going to dictate $446 million when he shouldn’t get that in a dog’s age. He’s literally if he goes to the Yankees right now, he’ll be and they resign Cody. I think he’ll be the third best player on the team. Now, the New York Mets, they are in quite a conundrum. Like you said, do you want to allocate more money towards the guys that just missed the playoffs? Do you want to allocate more money on guys that are getting older? These are two luxury pieces, but bro, be careful what you wish for cuz you just might get it. you. The day Pete Alonzo walks out that door, you’re going to be [ __ ] praying for him back. I’m letting you know right now, man. First baseman don’t fall off trees in Major League Baseball. I want him back. I just want him back as the th I would love to go. What are you going to do with Juan Sodto? I love Wano play the lights out right field like Juan’s going to be here for the next 16. Yeah, I don’t even I got I got a real No, no, no. That’s on me, man. I got to update that storyline in my head. He had a really good defensive year last year. Yeah, he wasn’t as bad as a lot of people think. He would have had a very He had one error last year and that came in August and don’t make me more upset than I need. I’m okay. I’ll worry about in B. We don’t have many long-term deals uh for these players. I think NMO and Lindor are probably the only two besides STO obviously. Um, not that Troy Nimmo is going to even be on the team long term, but I’ll worry about five, six years from now. Five, six years from now. I’m not I might not even be alive then. Well, let’s hope you are. And let’s peace. Yes. The World Series is deep. I My bring in Pete Alonzo. Tell him, “Listen, Pete, you’re dhing for the next three or four seasons. That’s what we want from you. We’re going to pay you 35 million, 34 million a year, highest paid of all time annually, and I’m going to go get Josh Naylor to play first base.” That gives me the guy who’s hits for a good average, good plus defender. You don’t have to get off your little cute feet, Pete. You could stay in the dugout. Do what you got to do. Fix your hair in the dugout. Talk to all the Spanish players. Do it. And just let Pete worry about just hitting because defensively he is atrociously bad. What happened? I didn’t c because I I’m in my Yankees bubble. Literally, you got to walk me down. In the beginning of the year, I was hearing about how good his defense was. And what he was he was playing That’s a great picture. That’s me at the deli in the morning, by the way. Right before the bacon. That’s what the ladies sees before I ask for an egg sandwich with my [ __ ] with my hair the way it is. It’s literally retreating from my eyebrows. I’m sorry. He was playing well. He was playing well defensively. out great until I think it was the game at Yankee Stadium. If you remember, he made the throw home and the ball went into the second row in the first row in the first level of Yankee Stadium. Once he made the bad throw, it all trickled down. He got Kodi Sanger hurt by not being able to throw the ball to first base correctly. Sanger pulled his handstring. He almost got Mlan hurt. Sang is a boy in a bubble. That’s true, too. If that hurts you, then you got problems there. He almost got Nolan Mlan hurt and I think that was the last straw for a lot of Mets fans. He’s a liability at first base and they just cannot he’s metrically he’s the worst first baseman in the in the entire league in terms of baseball metrics. You would think a man that whole family got an atomic bomb dropped on him would be a little more resilient. You know, Pete scoops the ball well. That’s what people will tell you. He’s he scoops the ball well. Would you listen man? You got Harlem Killer Bro. You know how much uh Okay, listen. All right. Uh if there’s anybody that’s uh the biggest Pete Alonzo fan in the world, it’s Mike Franca. Okay, listen. Uh he reminds me of a guy, you might not know him, a little known guy, Harlem Kilib, bro. Okay. All right. Minnesota Twins. Okay. No, it is true though. I mean, you want to lock in for 40 home runs. You got this this [ __ ] on your team, but I don’t want to see him go to Boston. That’s why I want you guys to resign him. Yeah. I don’t think Yeah. I mean, this is a fair deal for both sides, dude. But you know Boris already. You’ve dealt with Boris for how many years with all these Yankees that come over. This guy is a complete shrew. And he will do anything and everything possible to try and get his guys the last year. The Mets didn’t take care of him. The Mets told him to go out ch trade change the market. He tried it. No one liked him. He had to come back with his tail in between his legs. He was an MVP candidate the first half of the season last year and then he couldn’t throw it to first base. But if you want to talk about his protection for in the lineup for Juan Sodto was excellent last year. Yeah, it was tremendous. Having a bat like that in the lineup does it benefits, but I just don’t want him playing first base. No, no, no. I hear you. Uh and especially with DH. Um yo, is Sterling Morte still on your team? He’s a free agent. No. Okay. Yeah, he’s got to go. So, yeah. No, no. Hey, man. It was, you know, it’s kind of like the New York Knicks, right? Like the Nova Knicks. They’re bringing them to this next level. And the guys that brought you here, they’re going to have to start falling off. And he’s one of them. Thanks for your service. I appreciate it. We got you from the Marlins. You you great leadoff guy, number two hitter, quick, fast, pesky, all that [ __ ] Thank you for your service, Mr. Marte. But the New York Yankees need they want, okay, they need Edwin Diaz and Michael King. I think that they’re going to have to sh up more pitching. The Yankees, you never have enough pitching. Garrick Cole, Carlos Rodon, they’re both starting the the season late, which gives you Max Freed, Luis Hill, Will Warren, Clark Schmidt, which doesn’t make me feel good in my stomach because you had just had Max Freed taking himself, no pun intended, to the max last year with how many innings he pitched. Like, Gold Glove, the guy did everything last year. That’s the best Max Freed you’re going to get. and he ran out of gas last year. So, he needs to alleviate a little bit of that. Also, I said it right here on this program with you, Mike, that Carlos Rodon and Max Freed should have missed a start last year. And I think that’s why the partially the reason that they ran out of gas in the playoffs is I was saying that they need to skip a start because they it was Max Freed and Carlos Rodon all year long. Will Warren made every single start. That was great. He is a young guy. He can build on that. You saying the trades in this off season is exactly 100% correct. The New York Yankees and the Mets are going to get really creative here. Now, Sterns is if it was somebody that I had to trust to go shop at the the the dollar bargain and get the most bang for his buck, I would think it would be Sterns. He’s really good at You know what? I think I just got a light bulb for you guys. I think the reason that the Mets aren’t signing Diaz, they’re going to get the the the Tampa Bay Rays closer. Fairbanks. Yeah, I think that would be a really good look for you guys. I could easily see that. Yeah. And then you’d take all the rest of the money you’re saving and you’d bring it to other positions in need. There was a guy I don’t know why Mets Mets fans are like sour on this guy, but I think he would fit both teams. Luis Aras is a free agent. Yeah. And for two Exactly. That’s the same reaction that I get every time. So he doesn’t have a position. So which is the problem? Well, that’s usually a position. That’s everybody on the New York Yankees. So he’ll fit right in. Yeah. Yeah. So the Yankees run their team like a beer softball league. And you know, uh Frank from accounting used to play lacrosse in high school. So let’s put him at shortstop. He’s a little he can run parallel. No, it doesn’t work like that. You need a [ __ ] position. And everybody can’t be a DH nowadays. Yeah. Everybody on the Yankees is a DH. So I agree with you, man. He is This is where the rubber meets the road. This is analytics meets old school baseball, right? Is this player? He’s the perfect example. Hits for high average. Finishes with 200 hits a year. Okay. 0.8 wins above replacement. Okay. his OPS kind of in the [ __ ] All right. He’s not one of those winning players as they like to call it. You see what I’m saying? He’s a slap hitter. That’s like what they say about Quan a little bit. And I want Quan, Mike. He’s a perfect fit, B. He’s a lead off leading off in Yankee Stadium. Oh my god. He’s exactly what the Yankees wanted Tony Wulmarmac to be. All right. Tony Wulmarmac from the Diamondbacks after he beat us, okay? After David Wells’s back stiffed up in the World Series and then we got Tony Wulmack and then he started throwing balls into the [ __ ] crowd like Chuck Knoblock like we were possessed and Jazz Chisum and Pete Alonzo. Does does everyone eventually just start throwing it into the crowd here? I don’t I don’t know. I don’t remember what the asking price was for Quan at the deadline last year, but um with with just one more year left to control, I would easily go Spencer Jones for Quan if they would do something. Oh, I think that you’re paying o way overpaying way too much for Quan. If I just don’t know where where is Spencer Jones fitting into this team next year. He’s not. He’s not. Just don’t talk about him, please. Because we we’re trying to keep him a secret. So, this is the thing. Let me tell you that I’m going to tell you the truth here about this is what the Yankees are doing. They’re hiding Spencer Jones like Frankenstein right now. Okay? They tell you tales about him. They’re like, “I heard he hit 30 home runs. I heard he ate a man in one full bite.” Okay, it’s true. He did hit 30 home runs. It’s not true. He didn’t eat a human in one full bite. So, there’s good and bads. He strikes out 200 He strikes out 200 times a year, okay? Just like every other New York Yankee. He can’t play the outfield either. Okay, the the Yankees are desperate for a center fielder. They’re looking to overpay for Cody Bellinger to bring him back to the New York Yankees when they could pay Spencer Jones, who just hit 30 home runs, and make $900,000 a year to play center field for the next five years. So, make that make sense. Cashman does a really good job of all the best posting up those prospect. Caleb Durban was a perfect Ben Sueos Monttero Buel. Anybody with an O at the end of their name, they can’t play baseball if they’re in the Yankee organization. They do. He does a great job. But he has done better at getting uh pitching. He’s done a lot better at getting pitching for the New York Yankees. Ham Schlitler, Luis Severino a few years ago. I mean, the guy was an all-star. Clark Schmidt, Will Warren, um there’s even a guy Elmer Ecer. I always get him back. I have dyslexia. Sorry. Elmer Rodriguez Cruz. There we go. ERC. ERC is the goods. This guy is like 6’9. He tops off at about 99 miles an hour and he’s about 22 years of age from Venezuela. He’s going to be in the Fernando Tati deal to the Yankees when they make Detroit. Okay, let let’s Can we flush that through? That makes me that makes me horny inside. Okay, I think he’s I think he’ll be available. I don’t know. The Padres are going through that thing they do every two years. Yeah, they where they sell the team to and then they got to get rid of all the money. I think Petco buys the team. Okay. Like a chew toy and then they just sell it to somebody else. Fernando Tatis Jr. is very very interesting. He sure is. He could be h last thing we need is another big zesty in New York. But uh if you want to talk about solving your left h your left field, center field, any outfield problem you have, he can do it. Also, if he has a problem with Anthony Vulpi shows back up and starts playing like an [ __ ] he can play shortstop. Have you ever seen Tatis play shortstop? It’s [ __ ] a thing of beauty. his arm is sick. Plus, you couldn’t think of a guy who needs to just get the hell out of San Diego. And he would welcome the New York Hopefully in a positive way. He would welcome the New York uh Jr. and Jazz Chisum being on the same team being the middle of my infield. I don’t think Uncle Eric would last very long. I don’t think I could I could handle that. Uh but the reason about it is is that he’s got all the talent in the world. I love it. I I I really like him as a player. His old man was a player. Great. His contract is [ __ ] deplorable. What does he got? He’s got like 10 plus left, doesn’t he? Yeah. Okay. So, that’s not even like So, can you actually Do you have the ability to look that up? Yeah. So, I think it’s 10 years is something like this. He’s making $24 million a year right now. Okay. Then it balloons up to 36. his contract, I believe, if you can correct me if I’m wrong, Mike, I think his contract ends at 32 or 34 years of age. He’ll be when the contract ends, he’ll be 35. Oh [ __ ] Okay. So, tell me. So, right now, he’s making 21 to $24 million a year. Right now, it’s a steal. Yeah. For right now, he’s making 20 and then it’s 25 for three years. Yep. And then watch it balloon in the last three years. Two, three, four, five, six. 6 years starting from 2029. Six years he’s going to be making $36 million a season. Okay. So now that might be a discount by the time that comes around. Yeah. I mean people are talking about how Judge Judge’s contract is the biggest steal in Major League Baseball history, which it is. It’s going to look Yeah. When you see crap like this, well, when you see Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to turn around and get $525 million the next year. I mean, you see, like you said before, you’ll see Kyle Kyle Tucker only making what, $70 million less total than Jud. Never been never been the best player on his own team. I mean, a lot of a lot of that could have been said for Juan Sodto, but Wanto Wanto was closer to being the best person on his team, best player on his team than Kyle Tucker ever has been. And uh I forget who it was. I’ll give him credit when I remember who was might have might have been Mike Lupaca brought up a really good point. Said, “When was the last time you ever walked out of a Houston Yankee game and you go, you know, that Tucker really beat us tonight?” Never. It was Eluve, it was Kora, it was a lot of guys. Springer comes to mind before anybody else does. Even the shortstop, his name is His name’s escaping me. The kid and Justin Verlander Cole. Yeah, these guys. How about that? For a team that didn’t give up Miguel Anduhar, for a team that didn’t give up Miguel Anduhar for Garrick Cole the first time around on the Pittsburgh Pirates. That’s the new for like the last his last like couple years in Houston, it was Yordon Alvarez was clearly better. Altuve is clearly better. Yeah. Yeah, it’s not Yeah, you’re right. It’s not even close. He’s like a $300 million player. Yeah. And you know, nothing to spit at. And that’s the Well, that but that’s the crazy thing. Out of that 800 million, Juan Sodo’s only clearing $375 million of that, Mike because of the the New York tax codes. That was another thing. I I mean, I now people come up to me and they want to talk sports. Like when I’m out in public, bro, like people talk sports now. Like if I’m online, it’s a good thing. It’s Hey, listen, man. I love it. And if you guys ever see me in public, come up and talk. Chop it up. I I love it. But when I’m trying to get a quickie, you know what I’m saying? At the quickie mart, I’m just, you know, trying to do my own thing. But everyone’s just like, “Yo, why don’t you think nobody wants to play you again?” I was at Bala Market, okay, by the Starbucks in Westbury and I I’m I’m paying for my gas and the guy goes, “Yo, why do you think nobody in New York wants to play here no more?” And I’m like I’m like you I go you I go you asking me that because I have a show on on Instagram. He goes yeah yeah. Why would I be asking you otherwise? I’m like okay all right. So we’re I don’t know where you’re coming from buddy. All right. So now I’m back I’m breaking down the tax code and how guys don’t want to come play here and how LeBron James went to go play with the Miami Heat was the biggest tax cut in sports history. Can’t that be circumvented though by your place? You could have your place of residence in a tax-free state. No sir, professional athletes is way different. It’s what it’s that tax code. Tax code is from where what state you’re playing in where your employee pays you millions of dollars. I believe that’s where you when it comes to sports, it’s different than you being a regular citizen. Yeah. You know, like if you were a snowbird, but then you wouldn’t be able to work in New York if you worked in Florida. Well, we don’t know if Sodto’s a regular citizen yet. We don’t even know how old he is. So, you know. Hey, listen, Dan. We got a long baseball free agency coming up. Oh, dude. The stove hasn’t even been turned on yet.

  1. Thankfully a top farm system and a lockout could be nice for a possible Skubal sign and trade if hes on the market Stearns needs to make that happen. METS have one of the best farms in the league they have the prospects to do it and they have the ability to extend/sign him afterwards easily. Take whoever you want besides Mclean probably Tong, Sproat, and Jett Williams gets it done for a year rental and if they want a major leaguer take one of Sproat or Tong out and give them Kodai or Peterson or just add one of those guys in for all I care. Bottom line if Skubal is available the Mets must land him we lost out on Yamamoto because he took Cohen's deal to the dodgers and lost on the crochet trade by a hair it is LONG OVERDUE.

  2. Sorry I need to do a second comment here I'm tired of this "Stearns is cheap" bullshit he was with the brewers who don't spend money he made compeitive teams for them with no money you can say it's cohen all you want on Soto but POBO signs off on everything . You can't sit here and say he went out and got Montas and overpaid and continue to call the man cheap. Soto is on his resume and so is the pete re-signing last year. This isn't some partial credit/Cohen does it when the deals turn out good bs. Another pro Stearns argument here: look at the Mets top 10-15 prospects you will notice a theme of over 90% of them drafted in 2024 and 2025 by Stearns……

  3. Has anyone seen HAl Steinbrenner? Is he still vacationing in Italy or something? Honestly bro, I don't think the Yankees are doing anything this off-season. Hal is banking, praying that there's a lockout in 2027.
