Reporter Connor Hughes explained that if New England hadn’t fired Gerard Mayo following its four-13 season, he believes Brabel would have been the helm of the New York right now. And truthfully, he was interested in the Jets as the Jets were interested in him if the Patriots job hadn’t opened. I genuinely believe that Brabel would have been take was going to take the job. They wanted Mike Brael more than anything else. So that’s when he was the only way to take the Patriots job. They made a last second call. Is anything we can do to give you the job? Full control, more money. Uh, what do you want? More? What more can we do to change your mind? Oo. Yeah. If you interviewed him, you should have He should have never left your building. You shouldn’t. Hey, listen. You You You got to do that. You got to understand. You got to understand a coach like that, which is why Mr. Crab did what he did. Which is why Mr. Crab, he understood. I think if we just have the right person in charge, you know, with a little structure, with a little discipline that can in instill that Patriot way, you know, Gerard Mayo, I I think was well capable of doing so. Hell, if you going to have success if you couldn’t do it in Tennessee, you damn sure weren’t going to be able to do it in New York. I think I think Tennessee got with him prematurely. I think the thing is, if you listen today, like he and and and the owners started butting heads, you know, you know how it is with your A and Yeah. and and uh you know I guarantee she wish she had Mike Brael now. So I think the thing is o like when you’re in when you’re in that type of position you’re in ownership or you’re in leadership. The one thing you can’t beat is impulsive. Yeah. Get mad. You’re fired. You can’t do that. Even though sometimes I understand that you won’t you might want to you’re never working in this industry again, right? Brael had I mean, think about it. And then they they they they let Derrick Henry go and they ended up trading uh uh uh uh AJ Brown. You tra horrible decision, but a AJ wanted out. But they were making horrible decisions. Trade was to try to Yeah. That that too. But the trade was to try and better their team. Let’s see what we can get for them and see if we can improve our team. They drafted brother Taylen Burks who was supposed to I think I my camera cut off. Yeah. Um I mean that that didn’t pan out. That didn’t pan out too well. So I mean it’s just they they’ve been making some bad business decisions when it comes to not only players but the coach as well. The the coaches well. You you have a you have a Super Bowl winning coach that knows what it takes to win. He knows how to build a team. Obviously, coming from the new way, the the Patriot way, coming from New England, you know what? I have the formula. I know what it takes. It’s not going to be the snap of a finger. And you can’t just take money and throw money at it. I need time now. And with that time, I need you to give me a quarterback. If you get me a quarterback, I’ll take care of the rest. He goes New England. He has a quarterback. Okay. You know what? Now we set. We have a franchise quarterback for the next 10 to 15 years. Now, Mr. Craft, let me let me do the rest. Let me do the rest. So, what we see from the Patriots right now, we going to see this for the next 10, 12, 15 years. For sure. Because the one thing that you know about Mr. Craft is that he’ll guess he’ll step out of the way. He’ll step out of the way. Now, do I think he has more in common with Brael than he did coach Bichc? Yes, I do. I think they just I think under normal circumstances, Mr. Craft and Coach Bellich probably would have buted heads. But in a situation like where we’re in Oo, I’m going Hey, I’m mining gold and we’re still finding it and now if Rael takes that job and they can entice Sam Darnold to come back because I do think Sam Darnold says, “Okay, here’s a coach that has control. I ain’t got to I I don’t got to worry about ownership. I ain’t got to worry about no general manager. Mike Rabel got control. I’m not saying he has as much control, but I Right. Who’s the general manager? Didn’t he didn’t Didn’t the general manager come back with Vabil? Yeah. Because at the end of the day, Oo, some people take jobs. And I’m just happy to have a job. Tennessee or was he already there? I know he got Brael more than likely has sale over 53 and has some say off his draft. Absolutely. Because he knows what he wants. He knows the type of player. He knows the system that he’s trying to run. He knows the type of player that he needs to fit systems. That’s why coach Bellich a lot of times when he drafted players he went worked them out himself but he needed to talk to him because the thing is you can’t have a big ego and play for coach Bellich. No because you say well check the door. Nah, you got to leave your ego at home cuz see if you checking at the door you might hey sneak ain’t nobody will go back and get it. Yeah.
