BREAKING: Tyrod Taylor Named Starting Quarterback For The New York Jets | Justin Fields Benched

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, breaking Jets news here. It’s looking like the Jets are going back to Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback, benching Justin Fields. Now, this weekend, the Jets play the Baltimore Ravens. We all know this, right? despite the Ravens record, they are still looked at. Uh, you know, across the league, fan bases, media, they’re everyone is still looking at the Ravens like, you know what, they’re on a bit of a roll, bit of a win streak here. Let’s not write them off just yet. We have a healthy Lamar. Anything could happen. So, this Sunday is going to be an absolutely massive test. And again, it’s looking like it’s going to be Tyrod Taylor here as the starting quarterback. I mean, post Bengals game, you know, after Justin Fields was able to put up over 500 yards of total offense without Garrett Wilson on the road in Cincy, you know, that was kind of a moment where I feel like a lot of fans were like, “Hey, can we not necessarily duplicate this because that’s very, you know, very difficult to do and the Bengals defense is not good at all, but can we see something kind of like this?” Right? Maybe it doesn’t have to be as good, but can it just be, you know, may maybe above average? I mean, even average would honestly just be great. I think we’re all just searching for a level of consistency with Justin Fields and it simply didn’t happen, right? We had the Cleveland game and the Jets won the game. They secured the victory, which was awesome. But as far as Fields in the drop back passing game was concerned, it was once again non-existent. You had the Bree Hall screen, but outside of that there there was really just nothing to write home about. New England Patriots, you there were moments where he’s inaccurate, moments where he’s hanging on to the football, moments where he’s processing too much. Now, was that loss all on fields? No. You know, you I mean, you had multiple pass catchers dropping passes. You had uh some questionable play calling at times, but to be honest, I think this is what I would have done as well. You know, it sucks because I like Fields as a guy. I I like Fields as a runner, as an athlete, but it just feels like everything is so difficult when it comes to the passing game. You know, again, it’s not all on him, but it just feels like he’s certainly not helping the matter. Um, it’s not a one-time, two time, three time thing. I mean, you could point to numerous games. The majority of the season has been just a struggle through the air. And it’s not to say that Tyrod Taylor is some amazing option, some top 15 option, but I I think, you know, with Taylor, at least you can try to hope for some level of consistency. It might not even be great or good consistency. I think I’m just at this point hoping for average quarterback play. You know, can we finish the game with 180 yards, 190 yards with a touchdown pass and no picks? Clean game completing passes at a pretty high clip. That’s just pretty much all I’m I’m hoping for at this point in time. However, I’m not completely, you know, if if if Glenn is so tied to Justin Fields legs or if it’s Tannering Strand, but I think this is kind of a Glenn, you know, Glenn has been spearheading the whole Justin Fields thing. I don’t feel like it’s Tannering Strand behind the scenes saying, “I need Fields out there playing.” And Glenn’s like, “All right, man. Whatever you say.” It feels very much like Glenn is in control. He’s in charge. If Glenn is still tied to Field’s legs, you know, if I’m the coach here, I’m using Justin Fields kind of like how the Saints use Taesm Hill, maybe not this season or last season, but when Shawn Payeyton was there. I actually think when Aaron Glenn was a part of that Saints organization, that’s when Taesm Hill was really being utilized heavily as a wildcat quarterback, someone who you can run a reverse with, RPOS’s with, quarterback draws, uh utilize him in tush push, goal line situations, uh and maybe even throw the ball, you know, if you want to maybe roll Justin Fields out for like four plays per game. I we actually kind of saw Pittsburgh do this with with Fields as well, just occasionally bring him out. Um, but yeah, you can utilize Fields as a runner for sure. Again, three, four times a game, third and three, you know, second and four or something, and you just want to call it direct quarterback power up the middle, like I I don’t I really don’t mind Fields in in that role whatsoever. Um, might as well maximize it. It’s not like we’re pulling Allen or Lamar or Joe Burrow off the field. So, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. For me, again, I I just want some level of consistency. I want to wake up on Sundays and say, “Okay, you know what? At least I because at the end of the day, you have to walk before you run. You have to crawl before you walk.” So, it’s it’s like I’m just hoping for some level of I know what I’m going to get. And then from that point, when we can have that consistency, now I can start expecting bigger and better games um as the um season goes on, right? And that’s already a question mark in and of itself. But, um, yeah, Taylor looks like he’s going to be the starter. Fields I’m still going to be using as a runner. Not 20 plays per game, but I I I really don’t see anything wrong with three, four snaps per game, honestly. So, or even Brad Smith where, you know, that’s another kind of comparison way back in the uh, you know, in those Rex Ryan days. Anyway, thanks so much and as always, go Jets.

Tyrod Taylor has been the starting QB for the New York Jets this week vs the Baltimore Ravens, benching Justin Fields..as always..Go Jets!

  1. Good luck Tyrod, let's keep him upright and get Breece and Taylor more involved.
I really would like to see whether our Oc can run ,a competent, and modern offence.Sad to say it's evaluation time already.

  2. Why are you expecting Tyrod to be “consistent” and have “clean games with no picks and high completion percentage”. In his very limited amount of play this year he has 4 turnovers, low completion percentage, and now the offense becomes 1 dimensional because tyrod is 36 with a bad knee which means virtually 0 mobility. Just coping man, it sucks but the jets suck and this coaching staff is NOT it. Unfortunately this staff will probably get a long lease and years from now we’ll be in the same spot. Same old jets

  3. I just don’t see they point of elevating tyrod, if we see better production from the offense we win a few games great- we’ve assess we need a QB that can run the offense (WE KNEW THAT ALREADY) tyrod is not the future and we just hurt our draft stock… in addition to have to give up more picks if we fall in love with a guy in the draft. Not saying to tank, but we need to evaluate Brady in game situations.

  4. The thing with Tyrod is he doesnt have the strongest arm anymore. I fear its still gonna be a lot of short to immediate passes. But as long as he makes those throws, thats what's important.

Also Tyrod i don't think will be as hesitant as Fields was. I still like Fields, i want him to have success, but man a lot of rough games this year. Hopefully a better outing from Tyrod.

  5. Taylor is a career backup and he’s a good one. He’s not the future of this team. The time to make him the starter was 7 weeks ago when the season was still salvageable. Why are they not seeing what they have in cook? That’s smart business, if he turns out to be solid to good than we have a cheap QB and we can use our first round picks to build around him. Same old jets, always behind the 8 ball and stuck in the mud.

  6. Tyrod’s decision making does scare me tho. He’s thrown some back breaking picks in two games this season, but we gotta give him a chance. Fields just isn’t the guy

  7. Tool late. Whats the point. Tyrod is a backup QB. Look to the future. Give Brady Cook the opportunity as the giants did with Dart. it payed off. they didnt go to a QB that has been bounced around the league. They went with fresh. Jets hgave nothing to loose and the fans deserve it.

  8. I think Brady Cook was the best option just because he’s young and it’s the end of the season. One hit on Tyrod could lead us right back to Justin Fields. I want to see if this coaches staff can really develop a quarterback.

  9. The most important thing is our young skill players get true game reps and they're not just running cardio. Tyrod is not going to be a world beater but he'll at least provide a level of competence.

  10. I never root for a player to get hurt, of course, but I'm almost certain Taylor will get hurt within a game or two. Which will give Glenn the excuse to play Fields again. And I never root to tank either, but my sense is that then when we're 2-13 after Fields starts a few more games, Glenn will make his usual contrived excuse for what he should've done weeks ago and start Cook for the last few games. At any rate, once we're 2-13 or so there won't be any point in pretending the team is going anywhere until it drafts and grooms a decent QB. Watching Mendoza, Mateer, and Simpson on Saturday, I'll take any of them. At least they look like they understand the throwing aspect of playing QB.

  11. Fields don't want to play for the Jets. His attitude and body language is very telling. I can think 40 million reason he signed with the Jets.

  12. Justin fields will not be utilized in any capacity. Zero specialty packages. Cut him and get him off this shit franchise. He will succeed elsewhere and the jets will look like idiots as they do with Rodgers and darnold.

  13. It technically shouldve happened after the London game, but its a move that could at least give them a good leg for the last 2 months of regular season

  14. Big mistake. Can't have a future with Taylor. Can't fix Fields sitting on bench. Jets going nowhere anyway. Watch them play themselves out of a draft pick again . Same old Jets

  15. This may be a hot take but I feel like the jets should use Fields as like a Taysom Hill role where he can play QB but also play to where he’s designed run plays and can pretty much do the dirty work on a offense rather then be the starting QB

  16. Stop using these 2 backups and put the rookie in and let's see what Cook has in the pot. Fire Glen, Fields was his choice. Bring in McCarthy, let him choose his own qb in 2026 or 2027. Glen and Fields must go.

  17. This is beyond stupid. Wins now are a bad thing for this team. Everyone already knows what they have in Tyrod. A dude with starter level skills who gets injured if the wind blows too hard, hence why he's the backup. If you're gonna bench Fields, why not see what the hell you have in Brady Cook. It's probably not much but what's the point of this move when wins will bury their draft position.

  18. AG has tried to stay with fields but at the end of the day he has to do what's best for the team and gives them the best chance to win. The mark of a good coach. Not too stubborn go back on what he originally planned and go away from "his guy for the best interest of the team"

  19. I wouldn't be surprised if Glenn to spite Diana Rossini starts Fields. Glenn has this idea a QB is a running back who occasionally throws, what worries me he will do the same thing if we draft a QB or get a pro, he wants the running. Ground and pound offenses are boring as hell to watch and it is also not the way to build a championship team.
