The Bulls Absolutely CANNOT Trade For Anthony Davis
All right, we don’t have to talk about the game last night, although I will for a little bit because that game was atrocious. Bulls lost to the Pistons, a Pistons team that was without half of their rotation playing guys that I’ve never heard of before. Guys on two-way deals getting some run out there. The Bulls came out flat, got slapped around in the first quarter, had zero energy. It almost looked like they were all hung over from the night before. They didn’t lead at any point throughout the game. The defense was horrendous. I don’t know what the hell happened with Vu. This was his game where he should have feasted going up against a much smaller Pistons lineup with no Isaiah Stewart and Jaylen Duran. Instead, he gets absolutely worked by Paul Reed who has one of the best games of his entire career. Just it was bad. And I really did not feel like talking about how bad the game was last night in my usual postgame video. The Bulls did make that run in the fourth quarter where they cut the lead to one. I actually thought, all right, they figured it out. They figured out they have more talent than this team. The momentum is on their side. The inexperienced bench of the Pistons is feeling the pressure. So, the Bulls are going to win this one. No. No. Even that insane momentum swing where the Bulls went on what that 235 run wasn’t enough. They just crumbled in the final 5 minutes or so in the fourth quarter. So, yeah, not really worth talking about. Bulls have got to be better. They’ve got to come out with better energy, not play down to their competition, play with urgency, shoot better, and not turn the ball over so damn much. Granted, I’m sure this game looks a lot different if Josh Giddy is playing, but regardless, it’s a game they should have won in a game they really needed to win when they’re being thrown a bone for a gimme game on the schedule coming off a three-game losing streak. But anyway, enough of me rambling about that game. I’m actually not here to talk about that. I’m here to talk about a topic I see making its rounds throughout the interwebs, all of the rumors and speculation going on throughout the league. And that’s of course this notion that the Dallas Mavericks are going to be shopping Anthony Davis. This, of course, comes off the heels of GM Nico Harrison getting fired after making that insane trade last season where he exchanged Luca Donuch for Anthony Davis and one first round pick. There was obviously other salary filler stuff in there that was included, but that was the main focus of the trade. And with Harrison now gone, the Mavs obviously getting insanely lucky in the draft lottery, even winning that tiebreaking coin flip with the Bulls to move up to the number one pick in the draft and landing Cooper flag. The belief around the league is that the Mavs are going to do whatever they can to build around Flag. And that starts with trading off their veteran players and trying to accumulate as many assets that they can, whether it be in the form of picks or young players that fit their new timeline with Cooper Flag. And so, of course, naturally, everyone is throwing out their fake trades, most likely destinations for Anthony Davis. And of course, one of the more commonly referenced teams that is being connected to a potential Anthony Davis trade deal is our own Chicago Bulls. And while it may be an unpopular opinion to some, I personally want no part of Anthony Davis on this Bulls team at the stage of his career and think it would be a disaster if the Bulls actually made that a reality. And I’ll explain why in this video. This episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. All right, so we make decisions every day, but on Prize Picks, making the right decision can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this sports season. on prize picks. Whether you’re a football fan, a basketball fan, or you’re a fan of both, it always feels good to be right. That’s code bull central to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Price picks, it is good to be right. Now, I want to be clear. Anthony Davis, even up until last year, was a superstar level player. One of the top players in the league, arguably one of the best two-way players in the game of basketball, perennial all-star, five-time AllNBA player, five-time alldefensive team player, first team all defense at that. He’s been in the running for MVP in years past. I mean, dude is a beast. There was no question about that. And sure, just putting Anthony Davis on this Bulls roster in a vacuum. no consideration for his contract, his age, his injury history. Yeah, he would make the Bulls better when you consider the fact that the Bulls need a legitimate rim protector and lob threat that would be a perfect fit next to Josh Giddy to spoon feed him the ball in the paint. It sounds great, but here’s the problem though. We don’t live in that alternate reality of how the NBA works. The reality is that Anthony Davis is on the wrong side of 30. He’s 32. He’ll be 33 in March, which isn’t that old even by NBA standards. And generally speaking, big men have longer careers than guards do. But for someone who is as injuryprone as Anthony Davis is, who’s missed a lot of time over the course of his career, never any significant injuries, but in and out of the lineup from various injuries that he inevitably runs into every season at his age, and especially with his most recent calf injury that he’s currently nursing right now, while the medical staff obviously keeping him out longer to avoid the risk of him tearing his Achilles at his age. one major injury for Anthony Davis and that’s it. His career is over. So, while in theory you could say, “Eh, you could probably still get maybe three, four good years of Anthony Davis before he starts declining, the fact of the matter is I think there’s a higher likelihood then some might want to admit that Anthony Davis’s future, the rest of his career, is probably going to be much shorter than people think. I know it’s complete speculation on my part, but I think AD’s best years are behind him and I think he’s going to start declining rapidly and the catalyst for that will be some kind of injury. Now, I didn’t even mention that on top of all of this, something that makes me want no part of Anthony Davis is his contract. He’s on a max deal with three more years left on his contract at 54,58 and $62 million respectively. The last year being a player option when he’s 35 years old. If Anthony Davis does start to fall off as a player, that suddenly becomes a contract that is going to be untradeable in today’s CBA. You think Zack Lavine’s contract was hard, try trading AD’s deal at nearly $20 million more and at his age with his injury history. And so to me, the way I look at it and the way I look at the current state of this bull’s roster, they just got themselves out of salary cap hell. They finally put themselves in a position where they will have ample cap space going into next season and a lot of cap flexibility going forward with really no quote unquote big contracts on their books outside of Josh Giddy over the next four years. But on top of that, they’ve finally regained control of all their draft picks. They have all their picks. They can trade any of those picks if they need to. And they have a young roster that has been promising in the early going of the season. Why would you ruin all that for a very risky move of bringing in a player like Anthony Davis? The riskreward ratio there just does not make sense to me. The cost, the risks outweigh the benefits to get a couple good years of Anthony Davis, a move that still likely doesn’t put the Bulls into title contention anyway. Because here’s the thing. While the 80s value isn’t going to be what it once was, most of the fake trades I’ve seen going around involve the Bulls giving up Kobe White, Vuvich, Jaylen Smith, and two first round picks or some variation of that. I saw some that included Zack Collins, and some Kevin Herder because you’re going to need multiple players to make the money work. I saw one that was especially bad that came from Basketball Forever where they had the Bulls sending Kobe White, Vuvich, Herder, and Patrick Williams along with two first round picks. one of those picks being unprotected while the Bulls get Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Dante Exom, and Jaden Hardy. Woof. Like, yes, if the Bulls were able to get AD and all they had to do was just maybe trade VU’s expiring, maybe they add in Zack Collins and Javon Carter to make the dollars work and, you know, they throw Dallas, that Portland pick, which actually has more value than it did before, then okay. I still don’t like taking on Anthony Davis’s massive contract in today’s CBA, but then I could talk myself into it because the amount you’re giving up is probably worth the risk. But if we’re talking about packages like this where you’re giving up multiple first round picks and Kobe White, which I get it, there is a world where it maybe makes sense that you trade Kobe given he’s going to be due for a big contract or maybe leaves in free agency entirely and you might as well trade him for something rather than letting him walk for nothing. But if the Bulls do go down that route of trading Kobe, there’s much better value you can get for him than including him in an Anthony Davis deal that also comes with giving up first round picks. Like I know the Bulls have looked better. There is a world where they could make the playoffs this season, but they should not be in the business of trading multiple first round picks right now when they’re still in this youth movement development phase. They already made that mistake when they prematurely hit the accelerator button trading two first round picks for Nikoluch. I would hope they’ve learned from that mistake and won’t be making hasty decisions like that again unless it involves like a bonafide superstar that is still in their prime like a Giannis. You give up a hall for someone like Giannis, not Anthony Davis. And then of course we didn’t even talk about how a trade like this would impact the development of Modis Buselis which should be the bull’s ultimate focus right now. Do they want a repeat of what happened to Patrick Williams after his rookie season? No. I just don’t see how this makes sense for the Bulls. And to be honest, I don’t see how it makes sense for Anthony Davis. He’s going to want to go somewhere where he actually has a legitimate run at winning a championship. And that’s not what Chicago, not yet anyway. I get that he’s from Chicago would make for a great story, but the Bulls need to stop looking to bring in Chicago native superstars that are past their primes. Dwayne Wade. Anyway, whatever does happen and where Anthony Davis ultimately goes, I don’t think it’s going to happen for a while. A lot of players throughout the league cannot be traded until December 15th. So, I’m sure these rumors and fake trades are going to keep coming. They’re going to keep coming for some time. But yeah, I don’t see AD coming to Chicago as a realistic option. It just does not make sense for this team. Just my opinion though. I would love to hear what you guys think. You let me know in the comments. Its time to give up on vooch. Absolutely no intent to score the ball the last 5 games even when the matchup is in his favor… very frustrating
Yeah No no no AD is too injury prone and with the current losses by the bulls they don't need him at all. The Bulls trading for AD is like adding insult to injury
Dude let it go make the video. We don't have a great team here but I do think it will be winning team. Let's just get everybody back. We lost 4 games because of Vucevic. He has to score points. We all know he's a train wreck on defense but he has to score pts. I won't even bring up how Reed destroyed him. But he has to score. Averaging 10pts in those 4 games is the 💋of 💀.
As for today's video this sounds exactly like the Magic deal with Vucevic. Please Bulls brass don't get this guy. 🙄
There's no scenario where AD should be on this team. This was a waste of a video…..
With Giddy running the show, Bulls could use a lob threat center.
If vuce, Patrick and a future first gets it done. Pull the trigger
Good Luck to Him Wherever He Goes 👍 He’s a Liability.
Absolute facts
AD is injury prone, is making so much money for 2 more years It would prevent you from making other moves, It puts the bulls in a win now window without the roster to do so, And there are so many better options for the bull's assets.
It's far too early for the Bulls to be making a move like this and even if it wasn't, AD isn't the long-term fit they are looking for
False Alarm. Donovan still loses games in bunches.
Almost forgot to mention, This gets the bulls stuck in the middle again! We don't know who of Giddy, Colby, and Matas will be apart of the long tem core, But we definitely would want 2 more top 15 picks before going all in.
With (healthy)AD on the team they are a 4-6 seed that still gets swept in round 2 looking at the number 19 pick or something.
A combination of AD and the Bulls medical staff sounds like pure comedy.
If we trade for Anthony Davis I’ll stop watching nba
Please make a video about potential Coby White trade or Vuc.
Question? Would it be better to have Zion or AD?
For the record, I would hate to see Coby White go😢
That dude on the side line would be crushed he honestly was so hyped every time AD had the ball and was rocking a luka jersey 🙏👁️🙏
But the assets we would have to figure and give to get this done would be craaaazy
It’s the dumbest move you could make outside of extending Billy. We got a good thing going rn. Let’s these dudes cook (with the exception of the obvious dudes that need to Move on).
I do wish that they would get a true PF. They get pushed around on the inside way too much. That said, I don't think AD is worth the risk. Especially given this team's injury history.
He’s a packer fan
1. Dallas would have to pay us for cap relief. Noway we send draft picks and we are dumping Patrick Williams in that deal. No coby at all
Give them.Ayo, White and two future 1st rounders.
No way a 100%. Vuc is more than enough for Davis. Yeah his an superstar caliber player but yeah his so fragile men.
We are one of the youngest teams in the league we aren't contending for a championship anytime soon, so why would we even consider a a 32 year old injury prone player, this would be a move you would make if you had a vet team and needed that one player to get you over the hump
We don’t even need AD at all
Dallas fan here. Please take him lol.
Did you see CHGO’s take on this? Wonder what you thought about GOAT’s mock trade.
i keep seeing reddit trade post about this and its the dumbest idea
Not a fan of this trade
I’d rather have Daniel Gafford
AD is Still a All-star player and a future hall of famer the bulls would be lucky to get him period. . Especially after letting go those 4 guys last year. .
I’d way rather trade for Ja Morant if his unhappy in Memphis
Ill entertain this ridiculousness. Here's the deal.
Ill take AD on a 1 year contract and we give Javon Carter and DICK-ALL-ELSE! NADDA!
Any other deal? Kick rocks and I hope they hurt themselves.
