I get more confused the more I breakdown yesterday’s offensive gameplan

  1. There’s just no way to make sense of it. Chips nonexistent. No plays designed to move the pocket and buy Herbert additional time. Just an absolute regression on every level.

I get it happening in the 1st half because you prepared for a certain style. But to trot out the exact same thing after halftime is ridiculous

  2. I wonder to what extent we just have a dopey bunch. They beat the Steelers by making it a brawl, brag all week about playing hard and then turn up soft as shit on the Sunday. Truly baffling

  3. Guess they thought he didn’t need the help? Maybe he looked alright in practice or they just didn’t think they would need to do that as much against the jags in general?

Either way, seems like it should be clear now that the game plan they had against the Steelers is probably what they need to try to work with primarily moving forward. But they are just not going to be some sort of offensive juggernaut with the current state of the team really either.

This game should be a tough pill to swallow for 2 weeks so hopefully they are jacked up coming out of the bye on top of getting some rest and reinforcements hopefully.

  4. The strength of the offense is Herbert and the young receivers. Quick game to get the ball into the hands of Ladd, QJ, Tre, and OG is a no brainer for anyone who watches football and is aware the state of the roster right now.

    Except Greg.

  5. I mean, it’s what you get with a Greg Roman offense. The defense giving up 30+ is crazy and we probably would’ve lost either way but still. The lack of adjustments or creativity is troubling for sure.

  6. I cant imagine he stays with us next season too. Its 2 years now of the same bs and I’ve always said that we’re winning despite of Roman. Herbert is helping him look better than he really is some weeks but imagine if we didnt have the talent at QB. Look at the niners and how they seemingly seem to still consistently perform despite injuries and with backup qbs. (last season was atrocious with injuries lol). Sure, hes called some good games but then again, not really sure how much of that was on him but because of how inconsistent we are

  7. This is what frustrates me – we have people blaming the OL for yesterday’s embarrassing loss, when we literally had the same exact personnel against a much better defense in the Steelers, and beat them convincingly.

While the OL is trash, Roman didn’t do the offense any favors yesterday – the scheme was so fucking bad, I don’t know why he didn’t stick with the same/similar approach he did against the Steelers.

  8. I think everyone is over complicating it. Both the FO and players were too ready for this bye week. Everyone looked sloppy and was mentally checked out this is one of the few times I’ll openly say Herbert himself looked like shit and overthrown some key lay ups. Sure the o line is obviously a problem but collectively as a whole the entire team sucked and jags deserved that win 100%

  9. This is one of the more logical constructive criticisms from Sunday. I appreciate it. So much better the pitch fork hot takes that’s everywhere.

Steelers game actually gave me confidence we could design around OL and RB injuries. Fisk and Matlock were out there blocking like beasts and Vidal has good chemistry with them on run plays.

  10. I hate to say it but it felt like they tried to lose with the game plan. Like it just did not make sense and no one was properly prepped for the game.

  11. They weren’t even blitzing yet they were living in the backfield. Fuck chipping, just have Fisk/Dissly blocking the entire game

  12. This game definitely would have increased our playoff chances but it wasn’t a must win game. Any chance this was a lab game where they test out scheme change and put something else on tape so Raiders can’t prepare for what we’re going to bring in after the bye? A hopeful fan wants to know…
