  1. Beltrán and Jones should make it this year. Hopefully Abreu and Utley make some big gains. A-Rod and Manny too depending on how you feel about steroids.

  2. Yeah right Ryan Braun LOL

As much as I love Edwin as a long time Blue Jays fan not sure he reached Hall of Fame levels even with over 400 home runs. Will never forget his bat drop dinger vs Baltimore in the 2016 AL Wildcard though.

  3. Fuck I don’t think anyone on this list gets in on the first ballot. MAYBE Beltran. And I think Manny and JRol deserve it, eventually.

  4. I may be a homer, and I doubt he gets the support necessary, but King Felix:

2,524 Ks (would be 23rd among HoF pitchers)

3.24 career ERA (would be 63rd among HoF pitchers)

What kills him is his W/L record due to his team’s complete and total inability to give him a semblance of run support during his career.

  5. Casual reminder that Ryan Braun did steroids, lied about it, then accused a labtech of intentionally tampering with his results due to antisemitism, getting the tech fired, before admitting he just did steroids.

Ryan Braun does not belong in the Hall of Fame, he belongs in the Hall of Shame.

As does Carlos Beltran, the leading figure in the Astros sign stealing scandal in 2017.

Banish them to the shadow realm.

  6. Happy to see Edwin was added to the ballot. That in itself is a great honour.

Don’t think he gets in, but happy to see the recognition.

  7. Ryan Braun can get fucked. He screwed another dude on this list out of the 2011 MVP award, Matt Kemp. My wife loves Matt. I think he was a great player for the Dodgers. HOF worthy? Sorry, Matt.

I like Pedroia on this list.
    Omar Vizquel needs more consideration.
Manny and A-Rod will be veterans committee picks later on.

Other than that this is pretty thin.

  8. How do they decide who gets on the ballot? And who the hell chose Edwin Encarnacion? Love the dude, but he’s a Hall of Pretty Good at best.

  9. Are some of these images A.I. generated? The curly “W” on Howie Kendrick’s hat looks way off.

  10. Hamels and Rollins would be a good 1-2 for the 215, but they will likely split votes because they were on the same WS squad.

  11. How many first time candidates even make another ballot? Cole Hamels I would guess but I’m struggling to find another.

  12. Andruw Jones is basically getting punished for cashing one more contract instead of retiring. Those last few years were really bad and torpedoed his career stats. Think if people take that view of it and remember his first decade and how well he covered the field in Center he should get in.

  13. None of this years newcomers will be elected at all, doesn’t matter how long they are on the ballot.

  14. Amazing how many people ignore what bonds did to get thete. Sorry can’t condone the use of drugs.

  15. Can someone explain how Manny Ramirez is not a lock?

2 x WS champ including WS MVP of Red Sox 86 year championship ending drought

    555 HR

    .313 BA

    Over 2.5k hits

    Over 1.8k RBI

    12 x All Star

    9 x silver slugger

    2 x Hank Aaron award

    Various other batting titles

  16. This is a very weak class. A lot of borderline players but no really definite players (unless you want to include known road users – Manny and Alex)

  17. Lou Whittaker should be in, and I’ll die on this hill. The fact that he isn’t is nonsense
