Sens Today: Dennis Gilbert Returns to Ottawa

Getting [Music] set for the road, the sends back on the ice on Monday, gearing up for the sevename road trip and 15 days away from home that they will see to wrap up the month of November and kickstart the month of December as well. Lengthy practice today for the Sens here from Canadian Tire Center. Lots of different areas of their game touched upon today at practice. looking at our game, you know, where we thought we needed some work. Uh today there was a lot of puck touches, um some scoring stuff, but also working on our, you know, our defensive side of our puck as well. Uh trying to touch all our areas, but extra emphasis on certain parts and uh then we’ll travel tomorrow and practice in Anaheim. It’s exciting, uh to to have the feeling like our games head in the right direction more and more and we have more steps to take too. At the same time, uh there’s c certain areas we can keep getting better at and uh it’s uh it’s why we keep coming here and putting in the work. And with a 4-day break in between games prior to the 4-ame home stand and then now after the four-game home stand, Travis Green spoke about managing practice time versus rest, not only during these stretches, but also throughout the entirety of what’s a condensed schedule for this year. A lot of work with our strength team. Uh, you know, also, you know, looking at our game to see, do you need rest or do you need work? You know, we play a a game that you’ve got to be you got to have your energy. Uh, it’s a skating league now. Uh, if you’re half a step behind, it’s it’s going to be tough to win. And and we put we we always go back to, you know, do we make improvements through video or do we make improvements on ice? And today’s player is quite used to seeing video and understanding where they need to get better. And then there’s the execution part is hard. Uh you know, you need to get puck touches. So we’ve tried to add that whether it be our morning skate or in practices. And now embarking on the sevename road trip. The group overall looking forward to spending some time on the road. You want those trip early in the year just to kind of get the team bonding and uh um more time together really. So, it’s uh this is a long one obviously and um it’s going to be good for us to to see where we stand on the road. It’s tough when you come today, you go to work, you get on the ice, you work out, you don’t always kind of sit down with someone and really spend time. So, those road road trips are really good for that. And when you when you kind of know about more about the person, you care more about him and then, you know, it should translate to to a battle in the ice and you care more about that person, you know what he’s going through sometimes and um I think a team can get tighter. The Sens also making a move on Monday, acquiring Dennis Gilbert, who gets his second stint with the Sens kicked off. He came over via trade last season as part of the Dylan Cousins move. Spent some time with the Sens at the end of last year, now reacquired before this seven-game road trip. He adds some depth on the left side. With that, the Sens hit the road for Anaheim to kick off the sevename trip. For Sense 360, I’m Jackson Star.

The Sens prepare for a seven game road trip with one final practice on home ice. Jackson Starr breaks down the latest news surrounding today’s practice and trade with the Flyers in which Dennis Gilbert returns to Ottawa for Max Guenette.
