Leafs make MULTIPLE moves… SHOCKING Leafs Updates | Toronto Maple Leafs News
We have some breaking news. The Toronto Police have made more moves this time, making quite the surprising move. But not only that, we have some interesting updates coming out today ahead of their next game. And as they continue to shuffle chairs with the lineup, this team is in a very interesting state and this move right now today has big implications going forward. Ton to go over on this episode, ladies and gentlemen, as well as a bunch of other updates. But before we get into it all, quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. Your support has truly been unbelievable. there. It’s a lot to go over and honestly this has been a crazy year thus far. It’s been short. Obviously, the season’s not quite, we’re not even close really to halfway there, but there’s been so many storylines, so many things. And the story lines continue here as the Leafs have made yet another move and what has been just tons of tons of uh of moves already. The Maple Leafs defense and Brandon Carlo has been placed on the IR retroactive to a few days ago. and Jacob Quillin has been recalled to the AHL. And the reason I say surprising is because there were some people out there that didn’t really think that Carlo I mean realistically a few days ago we’re talking about how bad Carlo was playing. They need to call somebody else up and replace Phil Myers. All these different things. Myers remains for yet another day and Jacob Quillin is going to take the place of Brandon Carlo which I know has some fans I mean villainov in the pipeline right now they could have used defensively but what are your thoughts on this? Jacob Quillin is quite interesting and we have the reason why they chose him which we’ll dive into in a minute here. I’m excited to see Jacob Quillin play and getting any sort of fresh body in here even though Quillin just keep understand guys he’s not you didn’t know he’s not a defenseman. Jacob Quillin is he’s a forward you can see there as well just to clarify that but they’re not going with a defenseman they’re going with a forward. Yeah it’s not a one for one callup. He’s not going to be playing defense or anything like that. And the callup actually makes a lot of sense. We’ll get to another update in a second as to why they called up Quillin specifically and where he fits into the lineup heading into a very interesting game. I’ll frame it at as that against the St. Louis Blues, another team that is struggling mightily in the Western Conference. But, um, I think makes a lot of sense this move. This is a guy that is the closest maybe if you’re looking at all the Marlies to the NHL level, has NHL experience, makes a lot of sense. He got into some games last year of course and when you’re looking at Brandon Carlo, him stolars like everyone else on the IR. We have an update on Lton. No real update on Matthews, but they’re all going to miss at least I think two games this week still. It’s it’s looking that way. And obviously Joseph Wall being back helps a little bit in terms of goalending. Uh but Quillin makes a lot of sense. Carlo, there’s been a lot of talk about him. We’re going to have another video on that specifically and you know how he’s played so far this year and how things haven’t gone to plan. But uh Quillin is a young forward who’s hungry, plays with a lot of speed. I think it makes a lot of sense because of what the Leafs are going through right now. And on top of that, it makes sense in terms of a call out because there’s another player that we haven’t even mentioned yet that is now injured and not going to play tomorrow either. Yeah. And let’s dive right into a couple of things here. First, this is from Nick Barton’s article. You can see here there is some quotes about Carlo and others. I think he’s understood a little bit when to slow himself down to make the next play. I think he’s up in his assist totals. As a coach and as a staff, we have no problem putting him in any situation. He can play six on five. Just to clarify, this is for Jacob Quillin here, obviously, in lie of Carlo going down. So we can see here at the end of the day, you mentioned it like it makes a lot of sense. Now Jacob Quillin, we saw him last year briefly. I’m excited and clearly the coaching staff trusts him and they need players at this point with all the other ones who are absent whether that’s five on five, whether that’s on the power play, PK, all these different things. You need to have some other bodies there, especially with how and the offense has been okay this year. It’s obviously been the other problems, but he’s grown his game and continues to get confidence and gets that consistency. I’m glad he gets a call up. It’s good for him. It’s welld deserved. And of course for Carlo, we’ve heard I mean the coaches trust Carlo, right? They love him. Craig Brew is a big fan of him. But at the same time, he is now injured. This isn’t the worst thing to happen here. Like Carlo can take a few days, take a little bit of time mentally reset as well because there’s been a lot of media talk about the defensive group. Craig Bub’s called out a lot of the defenseman, not you know, directly, but you know, basically directly here. I think it’s a win-win overall. Now, speaking of forwards, Lton, who was practicing uh on Friday in a non-cont jersey, has now shed that shirt and is in a regular jersey. So, he’s going to be returning soon as well. This team needs they just need some healthy bodies. But you see here as practice begins, Nicola Wah is not on the ice and he’s now not playing tomorrow due to an upper body injury. No timeline other than that. So Quillin up, Nicola Wad down, Line nearering a return, Carlo down, Matthews down, all these guys. It has been a disaster nightmare scenario here. The good news is though, if you look at the division and looking at the bigger scale, some of the teams in our division right now, the Leafs division rather, are starting to skid a little bit, including the Montreal Canadians. Yeah, Montreal, and we’ve been talking about it for about a week at this point. You’re a couple games away uh from being first still. You can put together a couple big games and you can be first. the division is not that strong, honestly. Or maybe it is pretty strong. Everyone’s kind of, you know, even in that way, but nobody’s really just taking it uh by the horns and going with it. So, I think that’s pretty interesting this year. But just to recap, I mean, you got Lton with no, you know, specific timeline. You got Matthews with no specific timeline. You got uh Anthony Stallers with no specific timeline to return. Now you got Brandon Carlo, Nicola Awa with no timeline to uh return. That’s tough. They’re in real tough right now. But it it opens the door for new opportunities for guys like Jacob Killin who’s essentially taking his spot in the lineup. Nick Wah this is and to get back to Carlo for a second too. You talk about you know trusting players and stuff like that. They do trust I think the coaching staff brand Carlo but this is a good opportunity for him to you know take a step back mentally reset and then we’ll see you know when he returns to the lineup. The only downside to this is I think it means Phil Myers is staying in the lineup now even with Troy Stcher being claimed off waiverss which is very timely at this point with all the injuries as well. So, uh, that’s pretty interesting. But the Leafs continue to make moves. There continues to be a lot of injuries. I’m glad they’re dealing with all of this stuff at the beginning of the season. If they were going through all of this in April, it would be an absolute disaster, but everything is still in reach for them. The division lead is still definitely in reach for them and they just have to find it here. I’m still, you know, in the belief that it is a mental thing with this team and there’s no real significant help on the way. They have to figure it out. the guys in the room have to figure it out and not just the guys who’ve been in the room but guys like Jacob Quillin now have an opportunity to do that as well tomorrow. Yeah, and that’s a good point. Troy Stetcher who also you can see here he’s going to factor into the next game and I mentioned Villanov that would obviously be with Carlo out in replacement of I mean in this case Dakota Mermis because Meyers now is technically the seventh man. We’ll see if that actually sticks but they’re rocking looking at the lines Robinson vs Neander Nomi Cowan which was a pretty interesting line last time. Cowan had a fantastic game. Probably his best game of his NHL career at least in my eyes despite the points not necessarily you know showing that you know interesting penalty but I thought he played really good. Michelli Quillin McMahon unique line there and then Dakota Joshua Steven Lawrence Kelly. So I mean in the blender you have Riley, you have Oel, you have Ben McCabe and then Mermis Ster that Stetcher acquisition now even with Carlo down means that much more as well. And quite frankly there’s at least something exciting to look out for. You have young guys like Cowan and Quillin. You have Stetcher. I don’t think they’re going to send Cow and I’m curious to see what you think about this down anytime soon. Like he was one of the better players on the ice. I think he’s just at this point, especially with all the injuries. They got to just stick with him even when Scott Lton returns. It obviously won’t be tomorrow’s game, but he’s nearing a return here very soon. There is positives. Now, no timeline for how long Carlo will be out, which is pretty scary. However, the good news is you have Stetcher, I guess, but you mentioned it. If Carlo’s out for a significant period of time, it’s going to be one of Mermis or Myers unless they want to go ahead and go with one of the other guys that we’ve been speaking about in William Villinov or also Henry Thun who you got for Ryres. Yeah, and I’m surprised that we didn’t see Henry Thun, right? But you call up a guy or you claim off waiverss, I guess, Troy Stcher who has that experience been to back-to-back Stanley Cup finals with the Edmonton Oilers. So, I’m excited to see what he can do tomorrow cuz I would definitely play him over Myers and you can see that seems like the plan at this point. Anything can change and you know Ben Wall hasn’t been good this year. He missed a lot of time in training camp. We love Ben Wisa here on the channel, right? We’ve been talking about that for two years at this point. But, uh, you know, at the end of the day, he hasn’t really been performing that well, but we’ve been on the Benwis train the entire time. But, um, you know, when you’re looking at the forward group too, great opportunities for Quillin, great opportunity for Cowan, who, you know, you brought up bad penalty on Saturday, but he had a great game, right? And you don’t really see it in terms of points, but his underlying numbers are really good on a team where most guys aren’t. He’s been playing really, really good hockey and I think it’s because he’s bought into the system as well. You can see it, right? Everything that Brew is like, “Hey, please do this.” He’s doing and I can’t say the same for a lot of the other guys on the team, right? So, he’s been a bright spot, I think. And I think it was just a numbers game with him being sent down. I mean, he has done some really good things at the NHL level. Is it the best for his development to be up here and being, you know, yo-yoed between lines and stuff like that? Maybe not. Maybe he could be with the Marlies just in a solidified role on the top line playing power play, stuff like that. but he’s getting a lot of good experience up with the Leafs right now and he’s been one of their better players in terms of creating and uh actually executing the system. So, that’s been pretty interesting. But, we’ll see what they do tomorrow. I think it’s a big one tomorrow for a lot of these guys, right? There’s a lot of guys who are not performing well. Uh let’s see what they can do. And then on top of that, you know, you’re playing the St. Louis Blues. They have been struggling. They cannot hold leads when they have them. Um you have to take advantage of that in tomorrow’s game. You have to get have a game here where you feel good about yourself cuz they haven’t had first of all a win in five games and second of all a game that you can actually really really feel good about in a long time. I can’t remember the last time you could be like oh felt good about that one didn’t just squeeze out of that one right. So uh we’ll see what they do with that opportunity. Yeah. And obviously a lot of fringe guys have to have to make a mark including I mean Jacob Ken see if he can earn himself a spot on this team going forward with a struggling unit. But let us know down below what your thoughts are on all that. Thank you guys for watching. See there?

From trade rumor that leafs are show case F Jacob Quillan and two teams linked are Sabers and Sharks that have been at leafs games and from Elliotte Friedman that leafs looking roster swap but from trade rumors that other teams want sweeter go with and F Jacob Quillan and both Roni Hirvonen and Topi Niemela NHL signing rights have been in trade rumors as sweeter but if true or not we will see?
It is quite disappointing to see so many early season injuries. It says to me a lot of people were not spending their off time keeping fit. Yea working out and keeping fit I played men's intermediate hockey, bush league, and I rode bike all summer and ran 2/3 times per week so I would not look like a looser out there. You have 800 to a 1000 players many under 25 working to get a million dollar a year job, and not only that many of them are getting a million dollars to be professional hockey players. Fans are paying 200 a seat and they don't pay to watch you get in shape for 20 games.
If we are not in the top two of our division, I'd rather stay at the bottom of the standings to draft in the top five. This team needs to get younger and this is a fantastic draft.
As a positive? Nice to see our depth.. Showcase some players? I actually think the Leafa have had a bad shake.. They have played really bad but I don't think they are this bad of a team. Defense needs to get younger but our forwards are deep and so is our goaltending.
If the leafs are not a playoff lock in February, trade all the vets except 1 or 2 for draft picks this coming summer and race to the bottom of the standing for a top five pick. You see how fast and good Boston rebuilds and comes back on top. Leafs should learn from the Bs.
have you seen enough games to think this team as constructed is good enough to beat tampa and or florida in the playoffs i'm talking just getting out of our division
the old players look comfortable that's why they suck leafs can:t stay healthy big and soft whats the point of having big guys if they get hurt not durable what a joke of a a team lol maple laughs
The ship is sinking, and Leaf players continue to get hurt?🤔
Players that need to go….Reilly – worst plus minus in league last year at -43, salary too high…..Roy – all size with no agression, very slow and limited skill.. Dakota, all size with fake agression, very slow and limited skill…Myers – just awful all round…Cowan – needs to develop in the minors..Mermis-eh.
Not sure what’s going on with this leaf team but they clearly don’t play well as a team, making so many mistakes, losing 5 straight games. The leafs goaltending sucks, I’m not sure if the players are doing this on purpose to send a message to Craig Bérubé because maybe he’s tough on them and holds them accountable, which he should be. The problem with the leafs isn’t the coach but the players themselves.
From trade rumor leafs to aquire RW Alex Tuch at 50% retained from Sabres for F Nicholas Robertson and F Roni Hirvonen NHL signing rights or 2nd round pick in 2028 if true or not we will see?
I’d bring more of the Marlies up as they will want to prove themself and play what the coach asks. I am still surprised Thrunn isn’t getting a look in.
Who thinks Carlo is any good.
The guy does not hit, and was not worth what the Leafs traded for him.
Nothing can help the Leafs but new coaches.
This team is going to get their six straight loss tomorrow night
Get rid of Reilly
The storylines continue. Scripted
Roy hurt also. We need kampff back 😂
From other trade rumor that leafs to aquire Versatility LD/RD Mario Ferraro at 50% retained and pick or F Collin Graf from Sharks for F Matias Maccelli and RD Philippe Myers and F Jacob Quillan if true or not we will see?
Benoit has looked no worse than any of the other D. Even McCabe isn't looking good and a lot of it is the forwards leaving them hanging out to dry. It's hard to move the puck when the forwards are not where they should be and it's hard to keep getting all those odd man rushes.
This team is headed for the crapper full speed. They won't lose in the playoffs this year because they won't be there.
Leafs are in 28th place in the League. Plenty of injuries to key players. The Leafs look mostly like a minor League team. And people still talking about Cups and Payoffs. Treliving needs to be fired, bring back the Shanaplan.
Toronto players are weak they don't check n they are not good enough to win consistently too old tear it down start the rebuild
Toronto players are weak they don't check n they are not good enough to win consistently too old tear it down start the rebuild
Anyone who knows the Leafs knows this team has already quit and a few middling trades won't change that. They go into funks that no one can pull them out of as the injuries will continue. We have the 3rd oldest lineup in the Nhl. It won't get better. Whoopee we won a round!
Benoit has been ok!! No need to toss him under the bus!!! The whole defense has buckled!!! Let's go!!! No need to get worried!!! Leaf's always battle back!!!!
It's been decades since Toronto was this bad.
They simply look lost, no gel, no synergy.
Treliving worst GM in NHL memory. Destroyed Calgary and we hire him????? Now he has both last place teams in each conference. What a laughable joke to hire this buffoon. The dude brought in garbage on top of garbage with almost 30M in Cap space this offseason. Complete clown.
To much of the same shit with their top players thats the problem mathews no heart nylander no heart tavares no heart reilly no heart …. knies only one ….. I would like them to put joshua up on the 1st with knies and mathews to see what happens
Put 44 up on the wing. Cant be worse than his D game
Domi has to go .
You guys need to calm down on your shocking moves , huge implications, and all the other embarrassing stuff you guys claim !
