Oilers And Sabres Clash After Jake Walman Fires Late Shot

But Coulson wouldn’t let him. Another chance. Roselvic behind the net looking dealing that one off. Byron escape in a center pass and at the horn. Ellis a sliding stop on Echol. But I believe it was Nurse who had the best chance and couldn’t make clean contact with a puck. And now Coulson staring down Krebs. And this one about to boil over. Little extra shoving here afterwards. And everybody comes together. Little bit mad about the later shot. Listen, they’re trying to go. Why not let him go? Krebs is throwing a couple right hands over the top of the lines. Yeah, let him go. There you go. There it is. That easy. Get out of there. Thunderous right hands landed by Pulson and Krebs down. Kyle Flemington, the linesman, was trying to prevent the fight and Poulson had had just about enough of Krebs throwing two rights over the top of Flemington. Krebs got a couple in there afterwards. It was Krebs that hit McDavid. gave him a pretty good cross check. Krebs is a pretty feisty character, too. He’s not going to back down. Was throwing from his back even on the ice. One linesman in between two guys that are trying to exchange blows. I just think it’s a dangerous proposition. Get out of there. Let him get it out of their system. That’s exactly what he did. Here’s the chance at the end. And it’s Waldman with the last shot. A little bit late. Good save by Ellis as he was there to get it across. It jumped over the stick of nurse and then a few little words afterwards boil over as you’d kind of expect. I mean, this one would not have counted. It was a little bit late and I think that’s what Buffalo took exception to. And then Pod Kohl’s and after Krebs, it was Krebs that kind of gave McDavid the hard run into the boards. They have words eventually. They say, “Okay, go ahead. If you’re going to keep this going, and I like this by Flemington just letting them go.” And Possen just the bigger guy in this exchange, but Krebs with a couple shots afterwards from the ground. to you know what? They dust each other off and go to their rooms. [Music]

Watch as the Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres get heated at the end of the second period after a late shot on net from Jake Walman, ending with a spirited tilt between Peyton Krebs and Vasily Podkolzin.

  1. I don’t blame Walman for that. The horn sounded a split second before he fired the puck. Would’ve looked really awkward if he tried to pull up. But I get it. End of the period, you’re down by 2, you’re just trying to cut the deficit in half before intermission. He already made the decision that he was shooting if the puck got to him well before the horn sounded.

  2. whether it's Pod, or Walman, or whatever, someone on the Oilers needs to develop a temper and get mean. they need an edge, and someone who will take some chances. not stupid penalties, but someone who will step up fast and hard when necesssary. Connor, who's no wimp, gets rocked out there too often with no response and the Oilers need a bit of nasty from someone, anyone. don't make me come down there, strap on the skates in the stands and jump the ice to show some backbone, cause dang it Bobby, i will iffin i have to.
