The Atlanta Falcons Just Got SEASON ENDING News On Michael Penix Jr. & Drake London
[Music] It is officially confirmed Michael Penn Jr. will miss the rest of the 2025 NFL season with a knee injury. He is heading it to IR. They are, by the way, the Falcons that is looking for a next diagnosis to see how bad the injury is and if there’s going to be some severe missed time in terms of next season. Falcons fans, welcome into Falcons Today by Chad Sports. My name is Moose and I hate to say it. I hate to be the one that brings you this kind of bad news. I hate to put a overarching take on the season, but it kind of feels like it’s over, does it not? And I’m sure that you’re probably sitting there thinking there is a path. There is a way if the Falcons go on a run, but I’m going to be completely honest with you, with the recent injury news, the way that the games have been going so far, it just kind of feels like all is lost at this point. Like I told you, this feels like rock bottom. This feels like the very bottom of the barrel of the NFL. And one of the main reasons that we were continuing to watch, and I broke this down in a recent video, was that we were trying to evaluate Michael Pendix Jr., we were still trying to figure out if he had the chops, if he had the game to be the Falcons franchise quarterback for the next 5 to 10 years. And now that is halted. So, we see even more of a question mark surrounding Michael Penn Jr. and like I had said to you so far this season, I feel like one thing can be very, very true to say about MPJ. That being when it’s on time, on target, and the offense is in rhythm, Michael Pennix Jr. can deliver all of the throws you need for him to deliver. The problem is one, he was terrible against the Blitz. Literally rated the last quarterback in the NFL against the Blitz. Part of that could be because he’s afraid to get injured. Part of that could be because of the scheme. Part of that because they had no play action. I mean, you could go through a laundry list of reasons why Michael Penn Jr. was bad against the Blitz. But the second thing that you absolutely cannot deny is that Michael Pennix Jr. had that question mark, the elephant in the room about the injuries. This is now the fifth time in Michael Penn Jr.’s football career he has had a seasonending injury. So, I think it is fair to ask at this point, not just as the Falcons quarterback, but now as a quarterback and a football player in general, do Pennix’s injuries limit his time in Atlanta? I don’t have the answer to that question yet, but I think there’s an argument to be made for all the Penn skeptics out there, which I will give you at least some credit for, is that you drafted an injury-prone player. We can’t be surprised that an injury-prone player with multiple knee injuries has another one. Like I said, fifth time, and this was also echoed by Adam Sheffer, that he’s had a seasonending injury in college and in the pros. And the knee injuries are not new to Michael Penn Jr. And again, I’m not saying that Pennix is done. I’m not saying he’s cooked. I I think I that that people automatically hear what they want to hear. That’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is now you got to ask the question, how much time, how long is the leash for Michael Penn Jr.? But look, 2018 ACL tear. In 2019, a busted SC joint in his shoulder. 2020, another ACL tear. Then another dislocated shoulder joint. And then finally, he’s got more ACL damage. He’s got a partial tear now in his ACL. Again, questions are going to be asked not just by the fans, by me, but also by the members of the Falcons front office. Sporting news on MPJ’s injury with Penn’s left knee fortunately not being the one that endured the two ACL tears during the game in Indiana. The injury snapped a streak without major health issues for the young quarterback and may send him into the off season with plenty to prove in 2026 to keep his grip on the starting job in Atlanta. So the problem now is that the left knee is the one that you push off because he’s a lefty, right? So that’s all of his power. So he’s got no power now in that knee. So even if he were to play on this partially teared ACL, he couldn’t get anything into his throws. It’s just the way it is right now. So now I think moving into the next season with whichever coaching staff comes into Atlanta because it’s not going to be Raheem. It’s you’re not going to have Kirk and Penn has a major question mark. And I think Penn is automatically the starter next year. I do I don’t think a single person would disagree with the fact that Penn is not going to be your starter week one of the 2026 season. But there are more questions now about how long that leash is. So, how many games does Penn get as the Falcons quarterback in 2026? So, we’ve seen now his season in 2025 is halted at what 12 total starts. I mean, from last year to this year, it’s now 12 starts. So, does Pennix gets 20? Does he get 24? What’s the number that Pennix gets before we evaluate him and say, “Okay, we’ve got a chunk of games now to evaluate what Pennix is and what he is not.” Either way, let me know in the comments section down below. Coming up next, more bad injury news. This time to Drake London. It’s not as bad as Michael Penn. He’s not done for the year, but he is at least done for the 2020 uh excuse me, pause. He is done for week 12 against the New Orleans Saints. So, they will be without him for that as well. Before I continue on with that, I got to tell you about our friends over at Prize Picks. All of that in the comments and description of today’s video. Prize picks. It is good to be right. So, Will McFaden uh tweeted this out right after the Michael Penn Jr. news broke. Uh according to Wrap Sheet, the Falcons wide receiver, number one target, Drake London expected to miss Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and then possibly more time. I think that’s the key phrase in there that we have to look at is we don’t know what the extent of the injury is going to be. As a football fan, as a fan of the Atlanta Falcons, and as a fan of good football, I love watching Drake London play. He is the best wide receiver in the NFL in contested catches. And I don’t think it’s an argument. He leads the league in contested catch rate since he was drafted. But I also have another question. I’m actually wondering what Terry Fontnau is thinking right now. What is the justification for keeping Raheem Morris and Zack Robinson and this coaching staff? And that’s not a that’s not a hyperbolic question. That’s not a sarcasm question. I’m genuinely wondering what do you think is going through Terry Fontno’s mind right now because it can’t be, hey, there’s still a shot because there is no shot. You would have to win out to go 10 and seven. You have to win every single game. And right now, I think we can see struggling to win one game is tough for the Atlanta Falcons, let alone seven in a row. And by the way, going back to Drake London for a second, if this is any indication as to how bad the offense is looking in the passing game, every single wide receiver not named Drake London. So, take Drake London out of the equation for a second. Here is what the numbers look like since Ike Hillyard was fired after the week three performance against the Carolina Panthers. 19 total catches for receivers not named Drake London for 259, zero touchdowns, 2.7 catches per game, and 37.5 yards per game. Translation: nonexistent passing game. Well, Moose, you know what the problem is? There’s no help. There’s no help for Michael Pennik Jr. There’s no help for Kirk Cousins. Well, you got three wide receivers that we’re going to talk about here in just a little bit that are just rotting away on the practice squad. But first things first, back to Drake London. Um, in terms of target share on the first read and first downs per route, Drake London is quite literally among the best in the entire NFL. I mean, Jamar Chase, Aman Ross St. Brown, Puka, Nakua, Garrett Wilson, all of those bigname wide receivers, all right up there with Drake London. Drake London’s probably like fourth in the league in that stat for a minimum of 175 routes. So Drake London, I’m I’m so glad he’s on this football team, but he can’t be the entire offense. And Darnell Mooney, he’s got a drop problem. Kyle Pittz floats in and out. He’s kind of non-existent on the field. And you’ve got three wide receivers that are just praying, hoping and praying that they get onto the field. Nick Nash, Dylan Drummond, Chris Blair. All three of them just they they must suck. They must absolutely blow if they can’t find their way onto the field. And the only wide receiver target right now is Drake London. That’s actually worth a damn. Behon is your wide receiver, too, this season. That’s sad. That’s absolutely sad. I don’t know what’s going on with Darnell Mooney. M maybe it’s the injuries. Maybe it’s a Yips thing. Maybe it’s a connection thing with Michael Penn Jr. But all I know is if the Falcons don’t address it in the draft, they’re going to be really, really sorry next year. Now, maybe you could go out and sign someone in free agency. There’s a couple of free agent wide receivers. George Pickkins is available. Mike Evans could be available. But who’s going to want to play for Raheem Morris and Zack Robinson? I mean, that’s the current coaching staff. So, I’m typing my D for draft at this point because I don’t know who you’re going to get in free agency unless there’s a new coaching staff that comes in. If there’s a new coaching staff, Matt Laflur, if he gets let go by Green Bay, there’s plenty of other coaches out there that could turn this franchise around. But until we get the word from Terry Fontnau, nothing’s going to happen. Either way, let me know in the comments section down below. If you’re still here at the very end of the video, do me a favor, hit that thumbs up icon. It shows that you’re in support of what we do here. Maybe not of the Atlanta Falcons, but it can always get better, can it not? It can’t get worse than the very bottom of the barrel of the NFL. That’s going to do it for us on today’s episode of Falcons Today. I’ll be back with more rumors surrounding some coaching stuff. Uh, but as far as we know right now, the season kind of has come to an end. Michael Pennix Jr. is officially out for the rest of the year. Drake London gone for the next couple of weeks. I hope I’m wrong. I hope the Atlanta Falcons can squeak together some wins. I want to watch winning football from this team. Until that happens, rise up and be cool. [Music]

The bottom just keeps getting lower for this organization.
With how bad our team is on the field, draft capital, and cap space would yall be open to a fire sale now?
Season been over rather he was injured or not
Another loosing season
Rise Up!!! Somehow Coach Morris will find a way.
Chargers should get on the phone with Scary Terry and give up 2 first rounders for Bijan
Man ATl I was counting on yâall every game just to be 3-7 like bruh yall what happen to are prime in the old days
Not so fast- if there a new GM and coach Mike might not be their guy. Every thing hinges on the GM and coach.
This was my concern with drafting Penix. He already had serious injuries in college and now this. It looks like I might have been right in thinking that Penix will be a decent bridge QB and not a long term franchise QB
Falcons logic:
Sign Raheem as head coach with a record of 21-38. NOT the 6xw Super Bowl coach Bill B. â
Sign 35 year old QB with 1-4 playoff record, coming off season ending Achilles injury for 180 million â
Immediately draft a QB with 4 consecutive season ending injuries â
Bo Nix was sitting there at #8…
But Raheem & Zac would have f'd that up too.
Hear me out. We win out the rest of the season making it to the playoffs then to the Super Bowl and winning it all. Kirk gets his first and only ring then retires. Itâs all in the script
once we get a decent coach and offensive coordinator I think Penix will be fine. Once Raheem and his entire group of yahooâs are gone Penix and the rest of the players will have support and guidance.
Mooney been a mayor problem
I was OK giving up next years 1st round pick for Pierce. I figured with this talent we would be picking between 15th and 20th. Now looks like a top 10 pick going to the rams. đ˘
Dam GG. Itâs hard being a falcons fan. We just ass
I think thatâs why he was so reluctant to run the ball. He knows he has glass knees
We going to be the 2008 detroit lions 0-16 for the next 5 season to come " front office for the falcons need to rise up"
What we need if a college coach
Penix is done. Back to looking for a Quarterback.
This season was over before his injury. Be for real they just suck because their front office doesn't care, the coaching staff sucks and the owner doesn't seem to care about the team.
You canât hope to win with a huge % of salary cap being wasted. Also bad drafting. GM should be fired simply for creating this situation immediately after getting loose from Ryan and Jone bad contracts.
Penix IS the guy!!! Obviously the problem is Zach and Rah…..Zach is the cause of Penix being hurt with his piss poor playcalling… Anyone still being out on Penix is an idiot and can kick rocks!
When are going be fired ??!!!! Morris â we have to win these games â??? You as a coach no , you sound like used car salesman !!! đ¤Źđ¤ŹFire!!!!!
Hey Kirk cousins is leading us to the playoffs don't worry
I'm a fan of penix, but his injury history is a concern. Even if he isn't injured he's scared to run because of it. We need to explore the draft for a new franchise QB
Good fuck this team
The season ending new is Raheem is still the coach
What if the reason he had to be on the gun was because he needs to room to read the D
I think the Falcons are cursed from how they hadled Michael Vick. We been ass ever since and Matt almost had a ring but they stole that too
Morris needs to go!!! The whole staff needs to go Let's try to pry Nick Saban away!!!?
its possible they might string some wins together, but theres not gonna be any run. lets start cozzing up to Morris finishing out his contract. Cheers!
Love you and your content moose and I appreciate you trying to soften the blow, but as an eternal Falcons optimist this season was over weeks ago, there is no path, there is no âfind a wayâ, and I would hesitate to say rock-bottom because we havenât lost twice to the Saints yet. Time to start lining up interviews, advanced scouting next year second round picks, writing contracts for Bijan & Drake, et. al. And hoping a legit coach will come to this disaster of an organization.
I believe theyâll fire Raheem at the end of the season
if penix gets another season ending injury next year, its all over here in ATL. Falcons sign an aging injury riddled QB to 100s of millions. then they draft a high 1st round pick qb who also has a 4 year history of season ending injury. Miltiple of those injuries were to his knee. I was flabergasted with Rah morris hire and then free agent signing and 1st round draft. this leadership has set this team back possibly 5 years.
First of all i want to say is I've been a fanatic Falcons fan for over 33 years- been through all of the bad with only a couple great seasons-thought last year .was gonna a be a turnaround season with Cousins at the helm- didn't know he was gonna be such a bust half way through the season- didn't expect Pennix to be starting at all last season and for sure not at all this season. So as this season progressed I knew that knee was gonna be a problem- I've watched that play over and over again and I personally think Pennix is a Pussy and a Quitter- things aren't going well and he doesn't want to continue- but I'm with you on the firing of the head coach and offense coordinator and now want us to also start searching for a franchise quarterback- hopefully I'm wrong about Pennix but in my heart I don't believe he is our man
I think itâs time to start bringing up all the practice squad guys and let them show us what they have got., And put any marquee first stringers on the sidelines to stay healthy for next year. At this point, youâre just risking the careers of your young talent, asking them to play under this horribly coast regime.
When it's the 5th time it's definitely not a fluke but a pattern. Feel bad for him but this probably doesn't bode well for his football future.
Itâs been over
The Falcons were domed the minute they hired Raheem Morris, clearly not qualified for this job. The evidence has always supported this conclusion.
Here comes 3-14 . Kirk wont win anything cuz he doesn't care. He doesn't want to be here and git his money. HC trash. But we knew this when he got hired. ZACH….well yall know… Defense will "try" to keep it competitive but offense will do nothing. Week in and week out.
Time to draft another quarterback…. I knew Penix wasn't gonna cut it…..and I knew Morris wasn't gonna cut it right off the rip…..I couldn't believe that hire….It seems this team don't never make a good decision …..

Moose… so tired of this every year. We are literally the Jets and Browns. Dysfunctional organization at its finest…. been a fan since the 1990's… I am so numb to the disappointment at this point.
