Boogie Thinks Grizzlies Fans As MAD As Mavs Fans?! Ja Morant & Tuomas Iisalo – PANIC BUTTON

Oh, we brought out the button. Uh, the pennant button’s back, y’all. We’re going to start with some teams. I Oh, great. Here we go. You You have to wait first. Are you ready? First up, I’m going to start again. John Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Um, you probably know it’s it’s not been great. One and five since they lost to the Lakers and John Mar spoke up and the coaching situation’s a little awkward and Kevin Durant’s basically trolling his dad courtside, telling him, “We know your kid doesn’t want to be here, yada yada.” Um and his games he’s there but he he seems to be checked out shooting about 28% from the field. So is it panic button time in Memphis? Just looking at him first. Would you all Oh, one more. Malfunction. Oh, what is happening? Got you. Yeah. Um it’s it it’s time. Uh I I didn’t agree with the situation when it happened. I still don’t agree with it. You see the results of it now. What was the point of suspending your your franchise player and and actually thinking, you know, it’s going to be success moving from that situation. It’s a bad situation. You brought in the wrong coach obviously. Um that Euro stuff don’t work here. I’m sorry. I’m sorry to tell you that. It the military style, the you know, my way or no way, it doesn’t work. He’s very Yeah. So, uh, this was this is on the organization. And I feel like Memphis fans should just be, uh, should be just as mad as, you know, Maverick fans. Everybody want that. Don’t throw a kickback. Like, this this is crazy. Um, it never made sense. I don’t I don’t know why you put your star out in that way, shape, or form. When you do that, you’re basically siding with the coach. So, at this point, I I’ve said it once, I said it again. And it’s time for John Mar to move on. And y’all can take this European coach or Euro style coach and go see how much success you can find without J. Okay. But we say things like, “Hey, let’s move on from John Morant. It sounds so easy, but his stock value is probably at the lowest it’s ever been. How do you go about that?” Thanks to the Grizzlies, you know, thanks to the Grizzlies. And and I also said it like Jo can be unhappy, but let your let your team, let your age in and your management, let let them fight that fight for you and you stand tall and just go out and play the best basketball you can play. But, you know, as a former player, I also understand his frustrations and when you have an opportunity to get your point across nationwide and worldwide, you want to kind of take those opportunities. I felt like he did that and I like the fact we haven’t heard anything else about him. What I would like to see is for him to play better. Again, you got 29 other teams that’s looking around that’s hearing and seeing the same things that we’re seeing. They want to see if you still going to compete at a high level if we want to bring you in and we want to take this on. There’s no question to what his talent is at this point. His attitude is is being challenged. And I don’t even want to say his character. You know, this is still this is still a basketball related uh issue that we’re talking about. So, I I would like to see him go out there and put big numbers up on the board and try to wheel these guys into some wins. That’s the job Morant that I’ve grown accustomed to being a fan of. I’ve seen him wield them to wins that in some games that they weren’t supposed to be in. I’ve seen him put them in situations that they weren’t supposed to be successful and they come out on top based on the level of of talent that he possesses and and and for that because he’s not playing at a high level. He’s not enthusiastic about it. Um he’s he’s obviously not motivated to be there. Do we we we past panicking at this at this point? You blow it up. You know, you let Bane walk in the summer. Dylan Brooks two summers ago. Um, you got a new coach. Jaw’s unhappy. It’s time for a reset on all levels. When you say blow it up, you’re talking to like Jiren Jackson, too. Like, just everything start over. Get rid of him and try to move really, you know? Yeah. Fire. Fire. Because you don’t you don’t want you don’t want this to go from one of your stars to both of your stars, right? Like, and so unless you’re going to you’re going to build around him. And shout out to GG Jackson, one of my one of my favorite youngans. I I I hope for a scenario where he gets a opportunity to play at at this point. You know, I think he’s talented enough to be in the rotation. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but listen, at 4 and 8, try everything and especially try my young fella GG. Um, but definitely panicking in Memphis right now. All right. I there’s a per Brett Seagull, there are multiple players on the Grizzlies roster that at the moment or at the time were interested in Michael Malone or Mike Brown taking over and then obviously they they went a different direction. Didn’t even interview uh any of the other options. So, look, we got to hold people accountable. This front office situation’s pretty bad. I know it’s like a faceless front office, so you don’t really ever get as much heat as the ones we get to see face forward, but come on, Boogie. Like, that you didn’t even interview other guys that the players. I’m telling you, stop trusting in these experts. They’re idiots. I keep saying it. I don’t know how many more examples people need. And at the end of the day, the blame’s going to go to the player, the organization, the people at the top, the people that surround us with the talent, the people that pick the coaches. They never get the blame for these bad situations. It’s only the player. There is literally a lot of idiots in this business. These aren’t people that go to school for this, study their whole life, go to law school, med school. These are people’s friends. These are homeboys. Hey man, you want a job? You want to be a GM this year? These are all these jobs I picked. So for the casuals, this is another example. And you know what, on the on the flip side, Boogie, I I was I’ve been a pro long enough to know sometimes players check out because they are making an effort to get the coach fired. So maybe if you so maybe if you clean up that part and that is a a genuine issue for all of the players and not just one or two that your your leadership ain’t leading you and you bring in somebody else that can motivate these guys to get back to the level of play that that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing the Memphis Grizzlies, you might see better versions of these guys. I think not interviewing two men that they voiced that to me. Look, we’ve all been employees. There’s nothing worse than when as an employee you just feel like completely unheard, unseen. Like you pay these guys a lot of money. You invest a lot of money. At the very least, why don’t you take some of their thoughts into consideration? And I’m the star player. I think I’ll play great under this coach. At least interview him. Ah, nah. We going to go this way with this guy and then when it doesn’t work, we suspend the play. Like, come on. That’s what I was about to say. It doesn’t make sense. I want Mike Malone. No, I’m going to go get the Euro League or at least interview him. Get You know what? Humor us. Can you at least This is your star player. This isn’t the 15th guy on the bench. Your star player says, “I want this coach. We going to go this way and expect it to work.” It’s a little weird. It’s nonsense. It’s a weird piston contest. All right, here we go. Pelicans. Oh, stop me if you’ve heard this one. Two and eight. Zion leading the team in every category minus blocks. Hasn’t played since November 2nd with that hamstring situation. So, it’s not looking great. Lou, you’re up first on this one. Panic button or no? Yeah, I’m panicking. Um, thank you. Yeah, big time. Big time panic button. Excuse me. Double panic. I’m I’m getting double panics in my in my ear. But listen, this is this is this has been a scenario where this team has underachieved for a number of years now. You know, from CJ McCullum being in uniform, Brandon Ingram being in uniform, Zion Williamson, we’re still waiting for for that season from him. Um um a complete season. I can a complete season. I can go I can go down the line of misfortunate things that’s happened to that organization as far as injuries go and not being able to see them as a collective. At what point do you lose hope and hey, we’re not going to see it. That’s tough. Brandon Ingram is gone. CJ McCullum is gone. Um, now we’re back in the 2 and eight position. Zion is out with a hamstring again. Like what what else is there left for to be accomplished with the New Orleans Pelicans as we saw it? as as we felt like that’s going to be the group that’s going to make some noise in the Western Conference. It’s not happening at this point. You got to panic. You got to blow it up and got to go in another direction. Look, man, I’m from Mobile. I’m I’m right down the road from New Orleans. So, I got a lot of love for Nola. It’s it’s it’s almost a part of my culture. But I I had the opportunity to be a part of this organiz. At the end of the day, this place is cursed. I I I just I I really feel that way. We missed that. It’s time for a cleansing. It’s time for a rinse. Here we go. uh some holy water. I don’t know what it is. Like this this organization just reeks of bad luck. And so is this a panic or not a you button? I thought we already established. I mean I didn’t know if that was something else or it’s just it’s time to rinse off. Cold shower, hot shower, where do you start boogie? Because here’s the thing. You’re Joe Dumar. You just got this job, right? You Everybody wants to put a JD. Yep. The question of Zion is a very fair question. Do you take the gamble and keep waiting or do you pull the plug and say, “All right, we’re moving on. Let’s see what we can do.” I like how patient they have. They’ve been It is remarkable. Even like this argument about Zion and his health and being a sustainable player of the Leo franchise, that question mark has been there since Duke, right? Because of his size and the way, the style of play and all those things. Dog blew out a whole shoe. The shoe that shoe is everything. Yeah. You know what I mean? And so the questions and the question marks have always been there for Zion and his and his future. And they’ve been extremely patient with him and I’m sure on the flip side, he’s probably been extremely patient with them as well. And it just hasn’t been a great marriage. And and so I think it’ll be great for him to have a fresh start. Obviously with New Orleans uh shipping away a lot of the talent that was around him and household name guys that can help him further his career. Let everybody have a fresh start, especially this young guy. I agree. Such a It’s such a move, man. What if what if that’s what keeps you from doing it, right? What if you trade him away and then the best version of Zion that we haven’t even seen yet shows up? Now you’re the guy that got rid before. It’s happened. Let him go. Fair enough. All right, here we go. This is where it gets into like the weird paperwork, right? Because you’d think there’d be a silver lining if Oh, hey, let’s look down the road. We’ve got some picks. Well, unfortunately, that’s not happening because they traded away two of the picks that would probably be the most valuable in next year’s draft. uh the Pacers 26 pick which goes to the Pacers and their own unprotected 26 pick uh which went to Atlanta. So they would have had two top five picks in a pretty loaded 2026 draft class and now nothing. Oh, they ain’t they ain’t got nowhere to go Boogie. So this is that it doesn’t help. There’s no lining here. It’s blew up. What you mean? You you could if no pigs blew it up this season. I was supposed to say you got no release. Yeah, you got to blow it up this You got to trade or give it another shot. I don’t you got to you got to give away something to try to get something and and start from somewhere. I don’t Do you run it back when DeJonte Murray comes back or you don’t have a choice at this point? I didn’t realize that they traded away all their picks. You don’t have a you don’t have a choice situation. Yeah. What’s what’s what’s left for New Orleans to do. So this is this is bad, man. It’s not good. And there’s more. and and worse and yeah because you know there’s always there’s a lot of rumors about relocations and adding teams and all that stuff every league is dealing with it NBA specifically as well and Chris Manx even brought it up I think last week that there are two teams that continue to be brought up in these discussions and it’s the two we just talked about Memphis and New Orleans in possible teams that could relocate both cities and their arenas their deals are up in five makes sense so you’re you’re looking at this I mean you live in Vegas that’s one of the teams that gets popped up as a as a a spot. Uh if you’re these two teams, you’re also dealing with that kind of pressure. What do you make of that timeline? I think it’s time. I think I think it was time five, six years ago, especially for New Orleans. I mean, you go to the games, it’s about 36 people there. Um popcorn’s a dollar, drink. I mean, oh, but that’s court size $25. It’s not really much going. There’s not much success happening for just that part of it. And obviously, when it comes to the Pelicans, they’re also teamed up with the Saints, so it’s a package deal. But on one side, it’s just it hasn’t been any success. Just hasn’t. It’s time. It’s time. Blow it up. Move on. I always feel bad for fans when you I mean, look, there are no fans. I know. 30 people at the game. I’m I’m 50/50 on this one. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee, and and I can tell you if you have a good team, that is a fan base that will get behind you. They they’ve shown that. They’ve shown that they support their good teams. And also, uh just personally, coming from that city, they need some bright lights. like they they need something to to to keep keep the juices flowing um in Memphis. That’s my personal connection. I have zero connection with New Orleans. I love Memphis fan. I think they have a great fan. Thank you. So, I I don’t I don’t I don’t I’m not agreeing with a with a relocation for Memphis. I I think this is a basketball thing that needs to be figured out and you will see the fans back in the seats. On the flip side, New Orleans, I’ve yet to play in front of a great crowd. and I played 17 years in the NBA and and I’ve never played in front of a great crowd. Uh love the city. Uh love the history of the city, the origins and and I love the culture. Um it doesn’t look like basketball is that and because obviously the New Orleans Saints are up the street and they have no problem with their fan base and their support. Looks like New Orleans isn’t isn’t a basketball town. They don’t really care about the basketball. Relocate. God, it’s like so cutthroat. Um, all right. We’re going to take a quick break. More Run It Back on the other side. They run it back.

  1. 100% and its crazy that the Toronto Raptors haven’t fired their coach. They actually have a good team this year but they still don’t have an identify. The offence is just pure chaos and it’s really hard to watch. The GM that hired Darko is gone like why is this guy still coaching? It’s like score a fast break bucket or run around like crazy and whoever has the ball when the shot clock is about to expire shoots it.

  2. They hired Iisalo precisely BECAUSE Morant wanted to have him as the coach! They're speaking as if it was exactly the opposite. Their relationship might have soured now but that doesn't change history!

  3. Grizzlies got their first round and the suns first round next year the pelicans need picks give us Trey Murphy iii and Herb Jones for expiring contracts a couple good contracts plus picks

  4. 8:22 " It's not the organization it's the location of New Orleans itself being underwater and sinking slowly. If that doesn't relay to a potential owner or investor to look elsewhere….I don't know of any more evident indicators. Why wouldn't you invest on solid secure ground….even those things matter in the realm of the athletic entertainment business."😎

  5. Worked for the Spurs. Working for Chicago, works for GSW. Problem is they implemented a system that didn't fit the personnel. Ja is more in the Luka, Harden, Westbrook mould of needing a heliocentric team with Ja at the center

  6. Grizzlies fans are angry bc of a hatred of white culture, y'all openly say that they are not welcome there bc they're "European", sounds like more blatant bigotry coming from the blcc community

  7. Not surprised Boogie would say that. Had that similar entitled/unaccountable mentality.

On January 1, 2012, head coach Paul Westphal sent Cousins home from the Kings' home game against the New Orleans Hornets, saying that Cousins was "unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team; it cannot be ignored indefinitely."[11] Cousins, who had been averaging 13.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game at the time of the dismissal, reportedly demanded to be traded from the Kings.

On December 22, 2012, Cousins was suspended indefinitely from the Kings, who accused him of "unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team".[16] The suspension was lifted on December 24, 2012.[17] The season was up-and-down for Cousins, who posted career-highs in Player Efficiency Rating, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage, but led the NBA with 16 technical fouls, was ejected several times and suspended by both the league and the Kings.

Cousins was suspended one game by the Kings last season for “conduct detrimental to the team” the day after a game in which he appeared to direct a tirade toward then-Coach George Karl.

  8. Ja can’t shoot like that. Driving in all game isn’t going to work. His play making hasn’t developed either. He’s a second option. He won’t lead a team to a ring.

  9. Y’all are saying the Grizzlies need to have a fire sale but why would they do that when the front office messed up? You already stated that the coach is messing up so why should the players get moved when it’s clearly a management and coaching issue. My question is what the hell is the owner doing?

  10. I think a coach like Tom Thibodeau could be a great fit for them! Someone who could bring that hardnose/ nononesense effect they're looking for, plus someone xperienced with bringing out the best/ dealing with tough superstar quality players and guards, ie Rose, Brunson, and Butler. Or like they said firesale

  11. Follow local Grizzlies media. These folks out of touch. I can understand to move Ja but for who? For what? Why do it when the value low? If he’s so bad who would want him? Etc.

  12. New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies need to move to a New City. Move the Pelicans to Seattle ( and bring back the Seattle Supersonics) , move the Grizzlies to Las Vegas or a 2nd Team in the Bay Area,CA (would have to pay the Golden State Warriors , $100,000,000 Territory Fee) to move to the Bay Area in the East or South Bay.

  13. Why Ja Morant & many American players struggle under a Tuomas Iisalo-type coach

    It’s not softness — it’s culture clash.

    Tuomas Iisalo’s coaching =

    Demands discipline > talent

    Zero entitlement

    Team-first structure

    Ball movement

    Defensive accountability

    Non-stop conditioning

No “I’m a star, I get special treatment” attitude

This is the European basketball doctrine:

    > “Nobody is bigger than the system. You follow, or you sit.”

Meanwhile, many U.S. stars (Ja included) were raised in:

AAU ball = no defense culture

Coaches who beg stars to stay happy

    Highlights > fundamentals

IG clips > rotation help defense

    30-ball nights > +- winning impact

And Memphis in recent years? Let’s be blunt:

    Ja Morant got used to:

    Being the hero

    Isolation heavy offense

    “I’ll fix it myself” mentality

A system that bends to him

    Iisalo’s Problem for NBA stars:

He doesn’t care if you’re Ja He doesn’t care if you’re a max contract player He doesn’t care about your shoe deal

    His only priority:

    > “Do you help the team win, or not?”

    Real example:

    He transformed Paris Basketball.

    NOT with stars.
    NOT with prima donnas.

    But with:

    Smart players

    Defenders

    Ball movers

    Hard workers

    Character guys

And they WON. Dominated. Set records. Played real basketball.

Why some American players can’t handle him

Because they confuse: “Coaching demands” with “disrespect.”

    They hear:

    > “You need to play harder.”

    But they feel:

    > “He’s attacking me.”

    They hear:

    > “You need to stop watching after passing.”

    But they feel:

    > “He hates my game.”

    This is ego.
    This is insecurity.
    And yes — it SHOWS.

    Bottom Line:

Tuomas Iisalo isn’t a dictatorship coach.

    He’s a no-BS coach. A winner. A system builder. A culture setter. A leader, not a babysitter.

If you can’t handle that? You don’t want to win badly enough.

And THAT is the real issue.

If Ja Morant fully buys in, he becomes:

    Smarter

    More efficient

    More dangerous

    A REAL WINNER

But if he resists? If he says:

    > “I don’t need structure”

Then he’s not ready for a coach of this level.

Because success in real basketball —
    not mixtapes — real basketball
    requires:

    Humility

    Discipline

    Sacrifice

    Basketball IQ

    Coachability

And if Iisalo has all of that?

Then YES — he's the better coach.
    Not because he's European.

But because he's a real leader with real standards.

You want the REAL mic drop line? Here it is:

    > Most players want a coach who praises them. Champions want a coach who makes them better.

DeMarcus Cousins is softer than a cotton candy. Softer than a new born baby's ass cheeks.
