NHL Highlights | Sabres vs. Oilers – November 17, 2025

What an assignment he’s got as Edmonson and Buffalo hook up from the Keybang Center in Buffalo, New York on a blustery day. We’re underway with the David winning the opening draw. Happy about it. Here’s Drytle weaving his way in. Three Sabers follow. Roselvic to the point and a shot from distance stopped against Regula. Curls around Savoy given up. Here’s a shot from the point by Dalene. Rebound poked away. Roseanne could not maintain and Adam Henrik will clear length of the ice. Yeah, dogged work by Henrique once that puck was up for grabs. He just didn’t allow Roseanne to have that full possession. He was right on him to tip it off of the stick and put it down the ice. Solid penalty into the zone. Thompson hard to the net. Quick shot off the pads of Skinner. back to feeling much better which means he’s back after a week in sweep. Penalty coming and this will be against Buffalo and Matt Seavoy to Frederick shot Henry right at the feet and sure enough that created problems for Colton Ellis and that’s exactly what he does here. He knows he has a drive to the center and it’s Seavoy that’s right in the doorstep and this puck does go off the pad of Ellis and then ricochets off a body in front and it just doesn’t go the way you kind of want it to go if you’re ever and they’ll look to do that in this one tonight. Duck fires a low shot that’s handled by Skinner. Rebound toss by Majapani and then one extra pass. I mean Byron was in shooting position dished off. Mloud got it back and fired it right to the glove of Steuart Skinner. Hard to ignore. Yeah, when those feet are moving, he’s a force to be reckoned with. Byron ahead to Connor Timonss off to Tuck. Shot off the rush. A save. Skinner. Big rebound. Jack Quinn to the net. Again, they’re missing a lot of their top fours. Zack Benson, Jason Zucker, and Josh Norris among others. Here’s a dish in front. Score. [Music] Oslin as he brings it from backhand to forehand down low. Watch him kind of get into position. You’re going to see a nice pass zip down to him and just good control. I mean, he picks up this puck in the forehand and brings it from backhand to forehand. Rosanne is the one that snap it down to him right on the side of the net. He quickly brings this to the front allin one motion and tucks it far side. You have to have quick hands to make that play. Osw story. I used to get a snowy signal out of London, Ontario. And I always ask my dad, why do they say organization? And I loved it. And we got an organization in there for you with Malenstein. Nine. Malenstein. A quick shot right back. And a second one on Malenstein. Beck Malenstein. Two good chances as he was about to release that puck. Here’s a good chance. Malenstein in the slot gets that quick shovel shot away quickly. Fires a dart to Dalene. Tried to turn it back to Thompson and off the giveaway. Here comes M Japani with Dry Settle. Trailer one-time score. Jeff Roselovic has tied this game. Putting it upstairs on Ellis off a brilliant feed from Drytle. And Ros continues to stay hot. That’s his seventh. He’s on fire right now. You have to know exactly where everybody is. Turns over into the hands of Dell. He makes this little backhand pass look easy, but it’s perfectly in place for the trailing Rosik to let this puck go. And that’s the key. Owen power got the puck caught in his feet. He’s had a tough night thus far. And then over running the play was this is a chance for Henrik. Hard to the net. A save made by Ellis. Comes up and gives Frederick a little shot. Little turnover again for the Sabres. And Adam Henrik gets on this puck. Good puck protection around the big Owen Power as he just tucks the shoulder. Once he gets this puck, he knows he’s being closed off. Uses that right leg to get into the stick of power and then tries to drive throws it around for Greenway against Nurse trying to wallpaper him. Greenway up top. Timmons puck deflected. Shot Bozac and a save made. Rebound across. One timer score. Buffalo regains a 2-1 lead. It’s Bowen Byron inside and create more in the last couple of shifts. They’ve done it and it’s just urgency. This puck is up for grabs. Spin shot right here. Rebound come up with a loose pass again. And then a beautiful pass across Ozac the setup. There you go. We talked about him before. He’s got the tough matchup in this game up against the McDavid line. makes a beautiful spin pass and Payton Krebs. Give that line credit. They’ve been dogging tonight. There’s half a hockey game left, but right now Buffalo winning that matchup. Dina shot and that’s tipped in and the Sabres extend to a 31 lead. Beck Ellenstein had a beauty tip in front that didn’t miss by much. This is just hockey 101. Work a puck from the corner back to the defense. Dto D widely spread out wall to- wall. Get the shot to the net. Darlene’s head’s already up when he receives this puck. And it’s just get it to the danger zone. Watch this. Slow-mo tip down for Steuart Skinner. He’s expecting a puck up high. Look how high he’s extended up on his knees to try and catch that with the stretch play. Wasn’t there. Greenway read. It picked it off to Quinn. Drag move. Shot save made by Skinner. And Ross Levik dangling around Dome taking it a one-time and another good save by goender Colt Nellis. 10 seconds. Timmons tried to get it out but Coulson wouldn’t let him. Another chance. Roselvic behind the net looking that one off. Byron escape in a center pass and at the horn. Ellis a sliding stop on Echol but I believe it was Nurse Ken after Krebs. It was Krebs that kind of gave McDavid the hard run into the boards. They have words eventually. They say, “Okay, go ahead. If you’re going to keep this going,” and I like this by Flemington just letting them go. And P go and just the bigger guy in this exchange, but Cremes with a couple shots afterwards from the ground. You know what, they dust each other off and go to their rooms. Nothing wrong with it. And we’ll see again whether some of the momentum built by Edmonton in the latter stages of that period. Little extra shoving here afterwards and everybody comes together. Little bit mad about the later shot. Listen, they’re trying to go. Why not let him go? Krebs is throwing a couple right hands over the top of the line. Yeah, let him go. There you go. That easy. Get out of there. Thunderous right hands landed by Pulson and Krebs down. Kyle Flemington, the linesman, was trying to prevent the fight and Poulson had had just about enough of Krebs throwing two rights over the top of Flemington. Louie, when Edmonson loaded up with the three that are on the ice here, McDavid dry settle and Heyman, the second and third lines for Edmonton outshot the Buffalo second and third units. 7 nothing. Rebound gained, turned over by Kulak. Mloud shot. The save made Steuart Skinner was no one’s fallen dramatically off the pace. Here’s talk off a turnover. A shot denied by Skinner who’s made three quality saves now. Checked by Heyman up the left hand side. Sabres will get it out. Ryan Mloud. Change of pace taken out by McDavid. Jack Quinn hard to the net and that was denied by Skinner. The rebound slashed wide. Lazar off the face off. Sabres gained control. Osland hesitated and then scored. His second of the night and Buffalo extends to a 4-1 lead. [Music] Position off a faceoff. Come up with a loose puck. He backhands it through Walman and then he just starts moving, moving, moving. Eventually he gets himself to a terrific spot to pick his spot and that’s exactly what he does. Kind of fakes it. He’s looking for a pass. Spins and fires. His second of the game. First two goal career game for Osland. It’s 4-1 Buffalo. Three in. Oh, and power under control. Flicks it back through center. And now it’s Mloud. He’s in to the net and tried to go backhand short side and missed everything. McDavid centering pass. timer and terrific save made. Ellis across to deny Leon driveidle to dry side but he still gets a wicked shot away. You can see it through there. Actually it fed through perfectly. Great read here by Ellis. I mean this is his first game ever against the Evans and Oilers in this game. Ed has been empty since 417 remain. McDavid hits the line with speed. Mloud over to check. Thompson a steal fires and scores. 51 Buffalo and that’ll put it away. Tage Thompson an empty net. One last clear knock down at center and that’ll be all. The Buffalo Sabres five. The Edmonton Oilers one [Music]

Noah Ostlund scored two as Colten Ellis saved 31 of 32 shots coming from the Oilers to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a commanding 5-1 win.

  1. As a Sabres fan I think that Rosen and Ostlund looked good in particular this game….need to stay up with this team. Secondary scoring and cycling well a lot of potential.

  2. Garbage skinner: Over the last two postseasons, Skinner’s numbers have not just been below average — they have been catastrophically poor for a starting goalie on a Stanley Cup–caliber team. He was pulled multiple times in both playoff runs. No other so-called “contending” starting goalie in the last two decades has been pulled as often in the playoffs. Key reality: Edmonton’s skaters repeatedly outscored playoff opponents… and Skinner repeatedly erased those advantages. With McDavid + Draisaitl playing at all-time levels, the Oilers should have made at least one Cup Final — likely more. Skinner’s goaltending was the single biggest anchor. A team with: the #1 and #2 players in the world elite special teams elite scoring depth a championship-level defensive core …needs only league-average goaltending to win a Cup. Skinner gave them bottom-5 goaltending in the entire NHL, repeatedly, in the most important games of the season. One of the worst goalies in NHL playoff history”?

For a starting goalie on a Cup-caliber team with multiple deep runs?

Yes — this is statistically accurate.

    Not the worst goalie ever.
But arguably the worst starting goalie on an elite team expected to win.

    That matters more.

  3. Given the current positions of Colorado & Buffalo, this is arguably more embarrassing than the loss to the Avs. At least the Avs are the best team in the league right now.

  4. Between the increasingly getting bad Nurse/Walman pairing, Bouchard and Skinner, it's hardly a wonder why Edmonton can't keep the puck out of their net.

  5. Да продайте вы уже этого никчёмного игрока под 25 номером…. и купите нормального защитника. Just sell that worthless player with the number 25 pick already… and buy a normal defenseman.
