Here’s a more clear look at the missed pass between Cam Ward and Mason Kinsey

  1. We suck. Cam missed open guys and open guys failed to adjust to bad passes. Neither part of the passing game is helping the other

  2. PK ripped them for not getting someone better than Kinsey on the practice squad in 4 years last night and I 100% agree with them.

  3. The ball is thrown and Kinsey still hasn’t broken off on his route or turned his head. When he does, he turns inside instead of outside, which seems to be where Cam thought he was going to be. Add in the fact Kinsey has never practiced or ran that route (both he and Ward said this) and it is miscommunication.

It isn’t an excuse. But it’s also not inaccurate if you expect the WR to do something different because you have practiced that difference all week. A lot of people don’t get that.

  4. 100% because of lack of chemistry and reps between the two on a complicated route. No reason at all for Kinsey to look inside at the numbers when he has the entire sideline to keep fading toward. Cam put the ball where it makes the most sense to put it at the time of his release.

I’ve tried to withdraw from complaining so much that X isn’t out there to make Cam more comfortable, but this is just another ridiculous instance where it makes complete sense for him to be out there instead.

  5. I missed the game live since FOX hates Titans fans, but I saw all the debate about this play. I fully expected this to be a Ward bad throw but it really isn’t… Kinsey spins around for some reason and has his hips in the complete opposite direction of where the ball is going… when if he just kept running, there was a chance to complete it. How is anyone blaming Ward for that.

There has been this trend with Ward where is turnover worthy throw rate is at the top of the league but his CPOE sucks. I tend to think it is actually because of THIS happening multiple times.. WRs are over-thinking things instead of running routes out.

  6. I mean, this is obviously on Kinsey. Ward threw it exactly where he’s supposed to be if he doesn’t abruptly turn up field, which almost certainly isn’t the design on an open throw where the QB is rolling right.

And even if he was supposed to cut up rather than towards the sideline, he certainly shouldn’t be expecting the ball to his inside shoulder rather than his outside, when again, the play design has the QB rolling right and would require him to throw across his body 35 yards downfield to even possibly hit him inside.

  7. 100% on Kinsey imo. I thought it was a bad throw but seeing this he turned around for literally no reason

  8. There was absolutely zero reason to turn that back inside. At that point it’s just you running around lol

  9. People will watch this video and still think Cam missed the throw, that’s the insane state of this subreddit

  10. granted, I know nothing about football compared to these dudes, but:

this feels like a route where Kinsey should’ve seen how open he was and turn around to post up for a catch, rather than committing to the exact double move that was called

  11. If you pause it at 5 seconds, you can see Kinsey is running straight towards the sideline. Then he turns upfield and looks over his left shoulder. The ball gets to him 2 seconds later. How is Cam supposed to anticipate he’s going to completely change direction and look over the wrong shoulder?

  12. I thought this was on Ward live, but after seeing this angle it’s on Kinsey. He turned in and Cam while Cam was throwing the ball

  13. You guys have cam colored glasses on. The receiver knows he is open and is anticipating the quarterback throwing it in the field of play and not to the sideline. The receiver saw touchdown and can saw sideline catch with no YAC. It really comes down to familiarity between the two.

  14. So based off your comment history you’ve clearly given up on Cam and are just gonna hate on him the rest of the year but you’re insanely wrong here. The ball is out of Cam’s hands when Mason is around the 21 yard line, which is when he makes his first bit of progress going upfield instead of across field. Which means when he makes that weird turn to the middle of the field, the ball is already in the air. Then when he realizes cam threw the ball where he was supposed to be on the route, he does a 270 counterclockwise turn and dive to reach for the ball and misses it. When instead of he ran the route Cam was expecting him to run he catches the ball at the 10 yard line with plenty of room to run into the endzone on the same path as the route instead of having to try and cut to the middle of the field. You’re as wrong as Mason “Practice Squad” Kinsey is

  15. No way x don’t catch that ball Kinsey needs to go an our coaches need to do better

  16. The teams going to have to draft another 2 WR’s, they lack playmakers at every position, it’s insane
