Lots of us and media types had predicted Pads to make a run at Naylor. Seattle valued his bat and his post season contributions and just locked him up for 5 yrs.

Not going to lie, this hurts just a little. He would have solved a lot of our problems, but god damn am I happy for the man. Get your bag Josh, you deserve it.
As much as we can admire Preller, he really shouldn’t have gone for a blockbuster trade during the Covid season. He should’ve held off and used the 60 games as a great reflection on how to improve for 2021, regardless of the outcome in 2020. Trading for Clevinger and Nola, while giving up Muñoz and Naylor, really stunk in the long run. Now both will be in Seattle. Plus, Hosmer was cock-blocking first base. Good for Josh on getting a solid deal with a great team and city.
Good for him! Really like Naylor, and now he has the bag
I love when this sub simps for traded players like a dude who stalks his ex’s socials.
Downvote me all you want but anyone who thought Naylor was coming here for any reason needs to have a hard look at reality and the state of our club, financially speaking.
Like when selling it’s usually keep liabilities low so guessing they looking for value this offseason
I don’t think he was even an option. And I don’t think he’s a great fit anyway. $20m for a guy with an wRC+ matching Crones 2025 in two of the last 4 years? Bad defense and not a great baserunner despite his improbably SB streak in Sea.
I always liked Naylor because of his exciting attitude.
With that said this was never a possibility.
They have like 20m to spend this whole free agency so they aren’t giving it to one player.
Heck with the team for sale we may not even have that much to spend.
Naylor? I hardly know her!

Wasn’t ever in play unfortunately. Preller plans to save his bigger spend for SP
He was never on our radar.
We need pitching.
Dude always seemed on the edge of unstable. And kinda liked it haha. Good for the M’s.
Dirty player – glad we didn’t get him
If there is any player that the Mariner’s should use whatever it would take to keep Naylor and Keep him happy . HOWEVER I really loved entertaining his 2nd coming to the Padres in the mission to gaining a WS title. But with the Mariners being my AL team favorite I couldn’t be more happier for him and the Mariners.
didn’t he hide a knife in someones locker causing a serious injury?
Just brings up Hosmer signing PTSD. Naylor good but not insanely great but his trade partly because Hosmer sitting on 1B (or, more accurately, inexplicably standing on the foul side of 1B with his leading foot on the bag). $144m for 1.2 fWAR. Anyone enraged that people are not in love with Preller, it was moves like this. Funny podcast segments though.
Yall are DUMB if you thought Seattle wasn’t going to resign him. I keep seeing posts like this. Id dint actually think that people thought he was going anywhere
I can’t fault a FA for steering clear of San Diego right now, what with all the turmoil swirling.
