Jim Harbaugh On Complete Win Vs Steelers | LA Chargers

Any update on day? Um, yeah, working through uh bang knees, working through that. Some soreness today. Okay. See you on Wednesday. There’s a report that it’s just a bruise for him. Is that sort of working through some soreness, bang knees? We’ll we’ll know more on Wednesday. So, uh it’s actually we’ll uh working through see you on Wednesday. What do you think of the way defense played yesterday? Uh I thought it was probably our best game. Uh most complete game um just most consistent. Uh especially great on on third down. Uh the obvious one there. I mean, we were nine stops in a row, you know, to start the game. Uh, the takeaways, um, I thought we, uh, the rush and the coverage was coordinated really well, you know, tight coverage, guys, uh, guys stepping up, making making plays, the pressure, uh, those two things were really coordinated well. Tackle where I mean, just much improved uh you know tackling. I think Denzel Perryman uh you know really in a rhythm now. Um you know two of the finest textbook tackles back to back you know rolling the hips uh and you know three points of pressure just uh just textbook wrap up. Uh same in the secondary, Elijah Molden. Uh I mean his his tackling was really good. RJ Mickens, Derwin, of course. Um you know, really good. How important to the the defense for you guys? Uh and a great game by Khil. I mean that was uh that was magnificent. uh his tackles, sack, forced fumble, safety, uh graded out very high. Um two elite Bud, I thought Bud had his best rush game um of the season. Uh a lot of guys to point out there. Uh the hand thought his uh impact was was um dominant at the point of attack, made tackles, um a quarterback hit. Uh, lot a lot of good. A lot of good. Um, is that what you asked me? It’s not really good. I’m sorry. I got I got off. I don’t know. I got off different train of thought there. You have a list of stuff to go through. No, no, but I was saying Denzel and K their importance to the running game like before you guys had given up, you know, from Washington May. Yeah. Yeah. I said I think Denzel definitely, you know, back in rhythm and um also Deon. Uh another great game by him. Just just um just all 11 playing together. Everybody doing their job. Um you know, believing in themselves and and each other and the scheme. uh leveraging uh the way 11 worked together to uh to leverage a a play or a run or a screen or a or or a drop back pass or a movement. I mean, it was like I said, I think it’s our our best consistent game we’ve most consistent game we played on defense in all phases. And red zone again, uh huge great in the red zone, great in the um on third down those situations. Uh another uh huge fourth down stop in the red zone. Great PBU by Cam Hart. Just uh everybody did it, you know, together. A lot of guys have kind of talked about that. You mentioned last night too, just sort of trusting scheme, trusting the calls, trusting the system. Guys in the locker room sort of talked about that as well. It seemed like the turning point for that was sort of that short week heading into Minnesota and it feels like the trust has sort of been there in calls in the system in each other. What changed do you think like what was the impetus for guys kind of recalibrating as far as you know trusting the scheme playing within the scheme? Um, yeah, just I mean there was a I mean just you pointed out I mean you get together, you meet uh you know you you talk about it and uh Jesse did a great job of that and noticing that I mean sometimes guys are trying to do their job plus somebody else’s job and get out of a gap, you know, uh and um you know creates a crease. Um, I think just guys seeing it, realizing it, and then putting an emphasis on it. They’ve done a tremendous job of uh of uh of improving. That’s just, you know, the prerequisite of that. You know, being better is um, you know, better tomorrow than than today. And I think our guys have attacked that and, uh, you know, it’s been good for us. Um, switching gears, just with the with Lad, um, how much do you think over the last, you know, four or five games, he started to benefit from the number of pass catchers and options that you guys have, maybe seeing some more one-on-one matchups and being able to exploit that. How much do you think that has factored into sort of getting on pace with his production? Yeah, it’s it’s it’s been showing up um you know weekly that the ball could go anywhere. Um you know there’s Justin does such a tremendous job seeing the field. I you know saw a few weeks ago I mean Arande Gatson was getting doubled on a play and and uh created a one-on-one matchup for Lad and it was a touchdown throw. Um, you know, Quinton, I thought he did a great job, uh, you know, catching and run after catch on the perimeter, um, you know, the the more the more things that the defense has to defense, um, you know, the the harder it is for them. And, um, you know, the the options are are showing up. Uh, playmakers are making plays, competitors welcome, playmakers welcome. Uh, and that’s, uh, you know, it’s a very good thing for us. bodess well for us. Seemed like that happened again there on this red zone touchdown where you had two guys following around and being one there in the slot. Was that kind of a similar situation when you’re talking about the Vikings team? Yeah, I mean you don’t always know who they’re going to who’s going to who’s going to attract that double or get that help. U and you know that’s everybody running, everybody alert. um can’t double everybody. So, uh and as I said, Justin just he find he’s able to uh see the field so well and find those find those one-on-one matchups and and then playmakers uh get the separation and and and make the play. Separation like the long throw to lad, uh you know, Justin’s got the ability to make, you know, that’s what a 45 yard handoff looks like. Um, you know, really good, really great. You mentioned RJ. Um, just I mean, another impactful player last night. Just how have you kind of seen him settling in now the last couple weeks? He’s got like more and more of like a settled role, I guess. Yeah, more and more reps. Uh, uh, I think five tackles, one interception. Uh, he was really good. He was really key and instrumental in third down and, uh, in the red zone. um really good heady smart player. Uh another kind of like Aronda, you know, like he’s he’s not not a rookie. Uh like he’s been playing for three, four years also. Uh you know, dad played and uh they’ve been in the game for a long time, you know, it seems. But his I think something great about R.J. is he he takes coaching really well. uh you know he he is in in great communication with with Derwin and Elijah uh and he is not an error repeater. I mean if a mistake is made once you know it’s corrected and it’s corrected quickly and um takes the coaching he he uh he gets better from it. It’s uh that’s that’s a sign of a really a really top-notch player. um and just keep building and stacking. But uh yeah, really really pleased with with him. What uh stood out to you about Kami last night? Like he got stronger as the game went along. Yeah. Uh he sure did. I I I think he played 67 plays. I don’t know if we’ve had a running back play that many plays all all season, but uh um you know, he he had the hot hand. He was he was rolling. Um you know, great physical condition. Um strong. Uh I mean, the the p the catch he made, you know, when when Justin kicked it out to him, that was that was a great play. Uh he hits tremendous if of the 67 plays 65 were positive. Um and you know two things to to clean up, but that’s a pretty high high ratio of of great and good. Uh ran the ball extremely hard. Great ball security. Um you know, no turnovers for our offense. I mean, you just go put that one in a in a highlighter of uh where that’s accomplishing what we what we set out to do. and and a huge factor in winning the game. Uh and to get three takeaways oursel, get that ball disruption and takeaways on uh from our defense and our special teams, you know, uh just just huge winning formula and a lot of credit to to Kamani because he had the ball quite a bit. How did you feel like the offensive line played? I thought they played really well. Um, offensively, offensive line, uh, you know, four quarters of doing what we had to do, uh, to win the game. Zion Johnson, uh, you know, standout performance from Zion, standout performance from Brad Boseman, and then I thought, uh, Austin Deculus, uh, Trey Pipkins, and Mai Beckton, uh, played the kind of game that executed the game plan, played the kind of game that that we had to play. were really good in the in the run game and um and uh you know those didn’t allow any free runners. You know uh against some really good pass rushers uh you know held up and uh you know gave gave our quarterback time to throw the ball. Um, just with Justin, uh, came up blunt at one point early in the game, got his got his ankles taped. Any concern there at all with his, uh, physical status? I do have an update on his physical status. He is still a beast. I take that as a no concern. So, it’ll be good to practice. So, beast Uh important anniversary, by the way. Yeah, the uh the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald. So, we’ll chime the bell 29 times today. You listen to uh recording live today? Yeah, a couple times. A couple times. And uh and last night. Yeah. Uh kind of kind of Yeah. That’s a meaningful day. And uh we’ll always

  1. as a steeler fan the chargers put us in a box. I know my fanbase is huge so people were loud in the stadium but i knew this game was harder t;han the colts game cuz herbert is a real qb unlike danny dimes so he wont panic if we put pressure on him. I knew this would be a battle but chargers shown that is was levels to this. Done with my steelers but ggs to chargers. i really really hope yall got far cuz yall deserve it.

  2. Great job Chargers. I have difficulty watching these press conferences. Popper is a negative drag. Always asking the same questions when he knows Harbaugh isn't going to answer about the medical condition of his players. Get that through your thick head Daniel!

  3. While I appreciate Jim’s leadership style, I do wish he would be a bit more “real” concerning media questions. Popper is just doing his job. He asks questions knowing he won’t get a ‘real’ answer. Case in point: ‘how do you think the OLine played”? The “real’ answer is they played as well as anyone could expect…that said, it will be a miracle if Herbert finishes the season upright. Jim likely will say the same thing this year after the season is over that he said last post season: “we did a real disservice to Justin. We put him in harms way”. Let’s upgrade this OLine and dominate in 2026.

  4. Harbaugh I know you guys want jamaree salyer to be a gaurd but he is way better as a tackle for whatever reason he played 14 games his rookie year at left tackle for herbert and was pretty good he almost had a 78 pff grade for the season and when he replaced joe alt against the titans he was the 2nd highest graded player he is just better at tackle than he is plating gaurd and he is way better than deculas and pipkins those two are playing very bad deculas is in last place and pupkins is 2nd to last place put salyer in at left tackle over deculas and when bobby hart gets back have him replace pipkins but if you have salyer in ar left tackle and andre james in bradley bozman thats 2 upgrades on the line bozman has been the worst center this year its been really bad for him too it would be a huge boost to the line and protection for herbert he is just taking too many hits and changes need to happen

  5. Popper you and other guys in the chargers media need to tell harbaugh that deculas is the worst graded tackle bozman os yhe worst graded center it would be upgrades having salyer at left tackle and andre james at center and becton is the 2nd to last graded gaurd and pipkins the sane he is 2nd to last graded zion is the only guy on the line thst has been close to average and when bobby hart gets back healthy for him to take pipkins spot at right tackle cus he has been average there so having salyer at left tackle andre james at center and bobby hart when he gets back would be way better than those guys in there now

  6. It made me sick to my stomach when Jim Harbaugh when answering question after half time what they needed to do to win and he replied “ we need to be violent” etc. I stopped watching game. No Jim you need to play smart!

  7. I was making chicken teriyaki bowls over the weekend. I paired up this teriyaki sauce with some of this sweet rice wine imported from Japan. It was good you could pour a cup of it and sip on it and drink it. But the English teachers were calling me out for smoking bowls. Listen vocational school was in my past and I'm not going back. It was late last night, I drank beer, I was busy doing sh!t during the day and I was tired, maybe it was the automatic spell check that did it? But I meant to say bowels and not bowls. I'll repost the comment below with an edit or two. I do think there is a point where guys can plateau when it comes to toughness and the endurance it takes to get through physical football games. It's how you want to always play in my opinion. Football is not a finesse sport but when you get past the queasiness of hard hitting football and the team is a hard hitting team. There's games the team might not win unless there's some of the finesse. But dont be talking about finesse when you're not really a hard hitting football team. Finesse teams won't be in any super bowls. Herbert? Don't know if he'll make it through the season without getting injured. The offensive line can probably play with better technique when pass blocking. But the quarterback has to do his part too and take the necessary steps backwards on his drop backs. In the gun he might find a little extra time and under center maybe not as much. The linemen cant just kick back right into the quarterback they gotta bow up after they start getting into their kick backs.

"It was a gutsy game but at times the offensive line was looking queasy out there. The defense not as much, maybe more on the lines of a little exhaustion here and there. These hard hitting games they make people feel sick you know? You could see it through the body language and stature, their bowels within feeling queasy. Not tough, not made of iron and steel. Your mind though is what tells your body let's go. It's a decision right? And then the queasiness of the bowels because you're not made of iron and steel. You're made of copper and tin. The offense looks too passy. Stop listening to these fans that keep saying Herbert needs to come out slinging it. They have a fetish. You need to be in control of when Herbert is going to come out slinging it. You could tell that mentally he isn't doing that good as a quarterback. It's good to let the coaches coach the offense, figure out the game plans and just play within the offense. But there's one quality Herbert has that a lot of other quarterbacks dont have. He'll stand in the pocket and deliver throws. Whenever you think it's a good time to pass it's more of the belief and faith in the heart. At any time in any game if you feel like it's time for Herbert to drop back and throw the football. (It's Herbert time). It's in your heart, it's tugging on your heart strings. All you gotta do is tell him let's sling the football. And you're going to see a more confident Herbert. Good game but the offense was a little too passy. It's starting to get annoying to be honest. When is it going to f*king change?"

  8. Damn I’ve never seen so many Terrible towel carrying Steeler fans in a Chargers home game in my life. It was so dope though. There was no traffic after the game
