Mets Free Agent Preview: Should the Mets Gamble on Brandon Woodruff? πŸ€”

MLB trade rumors has him listed as the sixth best starter on the market. Honestly, he could be a good fit for the Mets. Brandon Woodruff is a free agent this winter. And could David Sterns be looking to reunite with him? He spent his whole career with the Brewers and has quietly been one of the best starters in baseball. He had a 2.76 ERA from 2020 through the first half of 2023, over 81 starts. But a shoulder injury shut him down that year and saw him miss all of 2024. Woodriff returned in the middle of 2025 though and didn’t miss a beat. He pitched to a 3.20 erra over 12 starts including a 130 ERA plus. He’s got number two upside. But here’s the bad. He’ll be 33 next year. He has the qualifying offer attached to him and he got shut down before the NLDS this October with a latch strain. The concept of Woodriff is great, but I don’t know if the Mets want to risk signing another guy with an injury history. Sound off in the chat, guys. Would you take a chance on Woodriff on a three-year deal? And like and subscribe for daily Mets content.

Brandon Woodruff is one of the most interesting free agents this winter.
Ace upside. Legit No. 2 stuff. But also a real injury history the Mets can’t ignore. Should New York take the gamble – or stay far away? Drop your thoughts below β¬‡οΈβšΎ #Mets #LGM #LFGM #MLB #MLBHotStove

  1. Please pass on him ! We don’t need another pitcher with previous injuries. He’s a good mid line rotation pitcher but being 33 and prone to injuries, No Thanks!!

  2. no way on woodruff. how would he be a good fit? he has less innings than senga over 3 years. we need a consistant workhorse. He isnt that. and he isnt a number 2… he is a depth piece reclamation project

  3. why suggest a 3 year deal? that would be CRAZY for someone that has pitched 131 innings over 3 years and is 33 and QO… hard pass… he is another reclamation project and costs draft capital

  4. @MetsDigestYT Framber Valdez is the best fit for the mets… we need a bonafide number 2 workhorse…. no more stearns reclamation projects please.. especially more than 1 year deal and especially with a QO attached
