AJ is a threat and weapon, damn good player, but he needs to stop whining and realize its a team game.
Where there’s smoke
Dude if you ask for the ball, you gotta be ready when it comes.
The route concepts are so gross here too
Been doing this smh
– 3rd time he did this, this season by the way.
Not including one time he half-assed a route leading to Goedert getting injured.
I hate to say it but its not the first time and people are noticing. I think he’s probably gone at the end of the year.
There are numerous cases of AJ clearly slacking on his routes. We’re at the point where I do not think it’s a coincidence that the best game this offense had was when he was hurt. Brown’s lazy play and demands are hurting the offense. Hurts has to look/force the ball to AJ instead of going through natural progressions.
That would all be fine is Brown was giving 100%. He’s clearly not. He’s not getting separation in man. He got his ass handed to him by Rock Ya-Sin FFS. Brown’s value to this offense is he will win one on one against damn near anyone and he is not doing that.
It’s a good thing we’re winning or else these plays would be a lot louder than they have been
I know this is supposed to be about AJ loafing but god these route concepts are insane. 3 fades, a flat, and a check down route lol we literally run a HS style offense
How many times are y’all going to post this same route with the same dumb take?
I was fucking livid after this
Imo AJ realizes he’s going step for step with guys like Rock Ya-Sin and gives up.
He is a physical specimen, but he isn’t all there mentally. His post game interview v Lions he looked so down. Bro you just won a massive matchup v another contender, show a semblance of positivity.
Saquon bailed on a route (that was a TD lock) as well, or it appeared he did
I can still hear my son yelling at the end of that play from our nosebleed seats: “Maybe you should run your fucking route!!!”
Ball is thrown 40 yards…AJ gives up on the route after 25 yards.
Folks on this sub: “that ball was clearly overthrown”
Yeah, that throw was Jalen’s fault. He should have known AJ would stop running after 20 yards and should have only thrown it that far.
This offense runs like 3 routes. A go route, a check with me route, and Dallas Goedert runs a crossing route. We have like 3 route concepts! Can you blame him for being frustrated? Watch other teams passing games. They make simple throws and run comback routes and sail routes, and mesh combos. We don’t do any of that shit! It’s too bizarre, Derrick Gunn thinks Hurts is pulling the same stuff Wentz did. As much as this angers me if it’s accurate I mean it makes sense all of Jalens throws are on the outside.
I’m 100% under the belief that he’s still injured. He mentioned the scarring on his hamstrings and he just doesn’t look strong attacking the ball this season.
Downvote me to hell but I think this very well could be a bad read caused by the wind.
He slows down at the 35, tracks the ball, but then re-accelerates again in a few steps
Come on people, this is a cover 4 defense…3 things are true here:
1. This is a TERRIBLE play design for a cover 4. Either KP didn’t expect it or he expected it and had a bad play design drawn up to beat it. There has to be a whip or a quick slant SOMEWHERE in there. Pull the LBs in tight and get Barkley in a wheel route. FUCKING SOMETHING
2. The defense is designed to take away the deep shots: the safeties misplayed the coverage (both jumping the post).
3. I guarantee you AJ saw it was cover 4, blew off the line for the clear out and expected Jalen to go short. Should he take plays off? Not necessarily, but if he were to take a play off, I’d expect it to happen in a play designed to take a deep shot against cover 4. I can promise you he didn’t expect single coverage on this play.
Lastly…the only reason Jalen threw this ball was because the safeties jumped the post. If this was properly played, and it’s not, it would have gone short/run/scramble drill.
Edit: holy typos, Batman
Edit: he 100% wasn’t expecting that ball. He ran head down, got 15 yards down field, never looked for the ball and slowed up. It was a clear out route against cover 4.
Can’t wait for us to get rid of AJ so we can go back to complaining about how terrible our receivers are and brag that Hurts would be the best QB if only he was surrounded by the right talent.
I dunno. Looks to me like AJ was blanketed on that and the throw was uncatchable. He might have slowed up a bit to look for the ball but I don’t see how any WR in the league would be expected to turn that play into a catch.
FIRE PATULLO!!!! /sarc
Is his hamstring still bothering him? He just doesn’t look the same
What so many of you aren’t comprehending is that it isn’t “overthrown” if he doesn’t pull up at the 30-35 yard line!! THAT’S the point!
Dude talks a lot of shit for somebody that can’t get separation.
He may very well have been expecting a back shoulder sideline throw. They missed one early in the game where AJ thought it was going deep and Hurts threw the back shoulder. They’re on different pages
I wonder if he heard something on the sideline about dogging this route. Not long after this, he bailed out a scrambling Jalen on the sideline with what looked like a max effort comeback to the QB, and then a defensive penalty took away the catch.
I’m 100% sure they’ve showed him this in film review this week. Hopefully it’ll change his mindset because this play couldn’t be more in his wheelhouse. 1v1 deep ball against a corner much smaller than him.
He’s become a prima donna.
He’s been guilty of this action on a number of occasions. I love the guy but he has to take some responsibility for his own actions too
He had no chance of catching that ball
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen him do this.
Last week with that “lackluster” attempt on the 4th down to the endzone.
I gotta be honest, this doesn’t look nearly as bad as I thought it did in the game
