Instead, Dumars seems to have outsourced nearly the entire job to former Detroit Pistons exec Troy Weaver. The only notable New Orleans move that appeared to have Dumars’ imprint was Saturday’s firing of coach Willie Green.
In particular, Dumars bringing in Weaver and handing him the general manager job has left rival executives utterly baffled. The Pistons went 74-244 in Weaver’s four years at the helm in Detroit, and while there were some factors beyond his control, there wasn’t exactly a bidding war to get him back at the helm of a franchise. Sources in Detroit say nobody from New Orleans called to vet Weaver before he was hired.”

Our franchise is a joke. It’s so sad too because fans love the Pels. We just want a good product
So unbelievably pathetic. I have spent thousands of hours watching this team over the years and to have the front office and ownership spit in our face like this in response is a complete joke. Add it to the list: keeping Willie because of cheap contract + friendship, Dumars ridiculous hire with no other options considered, an arena that had our players marveling at the Squadron’s when they played there, the total backseat to the Saints…
If there’s one thing New Orleans pro sports does well, it’s teaching you that sports are ultimately rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things and to not invest too much emotional energy in results. At this point, I’m happy when things go well, and there are bigger fish to fry when we go down 25 in the first quarter.
Told y’all about Troy days ago…before WG was fired. DMs got hate…thread deleted.
Lots more national media going to pile on this week. Watch.
Hollinger is the biggest Nola hater on the entire planet. Not saying things aren’t concerning with our team… but this man has never written anything remotely nice about our franchise or any of its players. FWIW
From my perspective, he drafted really well this year & did so in Detroit also (Caden, Duren, etc.). Those picks helped re-establish Detroit’s physical, athletic style of play that has them atop the East. Granted, the Monty Williams hire wasn’t the home run hit, but he did a thorough coaching search prior to that hire, even interviewing our assistant Jarron Collins.
The most frustrating part that I see as a fan is that most stuff that we see on the court isn’t bad coaching. It’s really just not making (professional) basketball plays. In reference to the game last night, there’s no way your best players on the court against the best team in the league are your rookies. Careless turnovers, being weak with the ball, not rotating on defense, etc. Besides maybe defensive schemes that’s really all on the players. Herb & Trey had the ball ripped out of their hands on several occasions. Dribbling into corners & getting trapped.
Now, I’m not saying this as a Weaver supporter because we don’t have a pick next year, but the players have to show some sense of pride. (And I’m ready to move on from Zion!)
Bring back Willie.
Jesus Christ we are fucked, u mean to tell me Gayle is giving all the power to make decisions to Dumars whos giving all that power to TROY WEAVER…..
Be careful with you wish for and this new office is a prime example. Griffin had his bad moments but he wasn’t doing what this staff is doing
We chanted “Fire Willie” and Willie was fired.
Now we need to chant “Fire Weaver.”
Benson until she’s gone — the shitshow will stay
I read the rest of this article and holy shit is it damning. Not surprised but man this team cannot be ran by an owner who also owns an NFL team
