Chiefs DETHRONED by Broncos? Eagles UGLY win vs. Lions, Shedeur’s DREADFUL debut | Nick Wright NFL

[Music] Welcome in what’s right in the right episode 393. And as always, this episode of what’s right in the right is presented to you by our friends at Boost Mobile. A a ton to do today as I am covered in shame and losing bets and really a state of unease. surrounding my hometown beloved Kansas City Chiefs after a game that I just never saw coming and we will get to that in full. There are a couple quick little things that I would like to get to before we get to that. And here’s why. I’m obviously I’m not running from it. I I had to deal with it on TV yesterday. Okay, I’m going to have to deal with it with Colin and more on TV today and we’re going to spend a lot of time on it here. The reason that we’re going to get to these other small but I think really important stories just quickly off the top is actually because God only knows how long the Chiefs Broncos part of the show is going to take and I want to make sure we have time to get to these other things. But it will it will be given its full accounting of what happened on Sunday, what that means for the Chiefs for the rest of the year. why they actually might be in a slightly tougher playoff position as far as making the playoffs than I think people currently understand. So, and where I was appear to have been wrong about the Denver Broncos who I said would go into their buy at 6 and5 and they go into their buy on an eightgame winning streak at 9 and two. So, all of that coming up shortly. First straight voicemail presented to you by Boost Mobile. The Cowboys annihilate the Raiders on Monday Night Football. Yeah, my Raiders are going to be the second best team in the in the AFC West take is just a classic three instantly wrong. They they’ll always have week one of beating the Patriots, which right now registers as the most bizarre outcome of the NBA se of the NFL season. CB Lamb and George Pickkins benched for the opening drive of that game. It didn’t matter. They were dominant after that. Quinnon Williams was great as the Cowboys get to four, five and one. Maybe a couple minutes on this game later. And Wimby out weeks with a calf injury. Huge bummer. And excuse me. Um, you understand them being cautious with him, but it also means for the gamblers out there, if anybody took some longot defensive player of the years that weren’t obviously Wimby wouldn’t have been a long shot. Those bets are super live because Wimby is probably going to be ineligible to win defensive player of the year due to not reaching the 65 games minimum threshold. So, I don’t know who you know what bets people made, but if you made a a kind of a bummer bet, but I don’t think Wim is going to play enough games, it was good foresight. And I’m I you know the sports books might not have even fully adjusted where he might still be a huge favorite but he shouldn’t be. Um the so yeah Wimby is now 4 to one and Cadet is plus 130. I’m just I think there’s probably value on everyone else in the marketplace. Um because Wimby at 4 to one I think Wimby probably should be like you know close to off the board. I just don’t think he’s going to hit the 65 games. Um all right and that’s courtesy of our friends at Hard Rock Bet obviously. So quick two quick things before we get to the Chiefs Broncos. And the first one is, believe it or not, for one of the first times in this show’s history, we are going to start with Shadore Sanders, but we’re not actually starting with Shadore. And so that sounds silly, but here’s the point I’m making. So Shador came in, he obviously was terrible. He was four of 16. It’s the worst completion percentage by a guy who threw at least 10 passes in four years in the NFL. Um it was a game that the Browns could have and one would correctly argue would have and should have won with just typical bad quarterback play. Instead, Gabriel was terrible and then Shidor came in and was somehow worse and they lose. And the Ravens escape with a win they did not really deserve despite Miles Garrett who might get 25 sacks this year just play at an all-time level. Um, but the reason I’m starting with Shadore is because this morning Twitter was down for a bit and I think Twitter has I want to make sure I use the right word. warped people’s brains and ability to discuss Shador Sanders in a way. It’s such an what you have and what Twitter has rewarded from content creators is the most idiotic Shador Sanders takes being so amplified and being so forcefed to anyone who has any type of sports algorithm that you have folks who know better or at least should know better polluting the public discourse with just nonsensical misinformation. And so you’ve got and it’s it’s on and this is one of the rare things where it is really a both sides problem. You have folks who gain traction and get engagement by finding anything imaginable to criticize Shador for up to and including where he’s sitting on the bench during and after a game because that gets engagement. And then you have on the other end of it, folks acting as if it takes a grand conspiracy for a fifth round pick, third string quarterback to not have reps with the starting offense when it is totally reasonable that during training camp, a guy who was not actually ever com maybe you think he should have been competing for the starting job. He wasn’t the Browns. Again, you can make the argument that the Browns simply don’t know what they’re doing. I don’t know what the biggest Shadore fans out there, how they they can make that argument. I don’t know how they square the fact that the entire league said he’s not worth a first, second, third, or fourth round pick. they that and I understand there was some leaguewide conspiracy talk. It’s all so stupid. But set all that aside, in training camp, the Browns looked at Joe Flacco as their starter and Dylan Gabriel of the two young guys as the higher priority because he was the higher draft pick. That’s how that works. And then once Dylan Gabriel became the starter, they looked at their third round rookie as a guy who needed as much practice reps as possible. So they were not splitting practice reps, which is totally and completely reasonable. Life as a fifth round pick in this league is hard. It is supposed to be hard. And it’s not always fair. you get thrown into action and you have to look better than Shadore did. And it feels like deep down people who know better know that, but deep down folks also know, oh my god, this really gets people going. And it’s just so dumb. And so now what we will get is this week Shador is going to get a real look. He will be the starter against the Raiders. He will get the f full week of practice. He will get a game plan to his strength, you know, catered to him. And we’ll see what he looks like. And typically in sports, if you’re good enough, none of the other stuff really matters. And you don’t have a lot of as a fifth round quarterback, you’re not going to have a ton of better opportunities than this one. knowing you are the starter all week long going against a bad team that is on a shorter week themselves and an opportunity to remake at least temporarily that Browns quarterback discussion because Gabriel has been really bad and if Shidora goes out there and balls maybe he gets another week But the my colleagues in the media that know it’s not at all outrageous for Shador to have no reps with the ones and implying or outright saying differently because either they want to be in good with Prime time or it’s what they think their particular fans or followers will appreciate or just because they think it’ll get the most motion on the internet. It’s so bad and it really is a good example of this is a real example of social media at times making the discourse dumber. And so that’s why I wanted to spend a few minutes on it off the top. We don’t have to spend more time on it. We will see what he looks like against the Raiders. I think Dylan Gabriel has been the worst starting quarterback in the league this year. And the only reason that you wouldn’t bench Gabriel for Shadore is if when he has a full week of reps in practice and is ready to go against the Raiders, he looks at all like he looked in that Ravens game. because in that Ravens game, he looked like a guy who was wholly unequipped for the job. And I didn’t listen, I I didn’t love him coming out of school, but I certainly liked him more coming out of school than Dylan Gabriel. And in that game, he looked like a guy that was a ways away from being a ways away. Today’s show is brought to you by our new presenting sponsor, Hard Rock Bet. Um, sneaky double-digit point streak watch, which he has, you know, the longest by multiple seasons in NFL history. uh or NFL NBA history. And as my wife comes in mid pod, you want to pop in. You want to say hello to the people. You know, you must think you look real cute and fancy today. Wow. The Hi, Daniel. She’s saying hello everybody. Okay, have a nice day. Enjoy the flowers. Say goodbye. I was right. Thank you for the You’re welcome. We are live. We’re doing the show. You’re welcome. See you, baby. Um, so Braun is supposed to come back tonight. The the I don’t even know what number the double-digit point streak is at, guys. The if you guys could put that in the dock. Don’t check don’t trust AI. Go to get an actual number. Um, and what second place is and what that number is. It’s just noteworthy. Now, am I mentioning I’m mentioning that for a couple reasons. One is because I do think if he’s on a minutes restriction, you know, coming off an injury, it could theoretically be in jeopardy. And the other is uh fresh off an unbelievable week where he scorpoint games. Sadly, Steph’s double digit point streak reset back to zero. So, he’s he’s gonna have to keep going for about another 17 years if he wants to catch Brown on that record. That’s neither here nor there. Um, I am really excited to see what this Lakers team looks like with Braun. They obviously need him to have any chance to compete with OKC. Now, it’s possible nobody’s going to compete with a healthy OKC, but Lucas playing so well, Austin’s playing so well. Obviously, adding LeBron will make that team that much better. And I’m curious how much he’s going to help them defensively. Braun’s number, by the way, is at 1,292. Uh, which is just a little more than 400 clear of Michael Jordan. Second place was at 866. Um, and so that’s something to watch tonight as the Lakers more than survived the time without Braun at 10 and four. Now, the other thing I wanted to do, and I promise that I’m not doing some gag. We are doing Chiefs Broncos in 3 minutes, is did you guys see the Draymond courtside interaction? So, Draymond approaches a fan in New Orleans who was sitting courtside, and the fan looked like he was taller than Draymond. So, this guy’s got to be like 6’8. Um, it was really bizarre to see the guy stand up and Draymond come, you know, almost nose tonose with him and the guy’s bigger than him. Um, and Draymond was clearly very upset. But it was interesting because they didn’t kick the fan out and almost always if a player gets that upset with a fan, that fan gets removed. But they didn’t kick the fan out. So then Draymond was asked about it after the game and he said the guy kept calling me a woman. And it’s like wait what? And then Draymond clarified he kept calling him a specific woman. And again it’s like wait what? Um, and then the fan explained, “Oh yeah, he missed a few layups, got his own rebound, so I started chanting Angel Reese.” Now, you can say that’s mean or disrespectful to Angel or it’s lowbrow, but it is clever. And it is interesting that he could yell just repeatedly say Angel Ree and everyone, Draymond including, can know exactly what he’s saying. exactly the dig he’s trying to get at him. And additionally, I think that is totally in bounds. I think that that is the type of heckling that should not get a fan disciplined at all. And I’m glad the New Orleans staff did not try to kick that fan out or do anything to him. and Draymond’s entire, you know, basically I’ve got a wife, I’ve got kids, you can’t buddy, that was not over the line disrespect. And if we really wanted to get on a deep level, the fact that you kept saying calling me a woman was that you felt that disrespectful, that’s like kind of sneaky. reveals a little more about you than maybe about the guy. Um, but that type of heckling is the exact type of heckling that you that is inbounds. And if I’m not a heckler, if you’re going to heckle, it’s the type of heckling that you should do. It’s no profanity. There’s nothing truly personal or offensive, but it gets under the opposing team skin. So that I thought was solid that like that kind of witty by that guy. Okay. I wanted to get to those stories because I wanted to be on the record about them and I don’t know how long we’re going to talk Broncos Chiefs and I didn’t want to not have time. And the people in the chat saying quit stalling and get to it. Guys, I I am I I do I do about more live media than at least sports media than anyone in the field. I’m not, you know, I’m not in I certainly don’t do more media than everyone who does sports media if you include their asinine and ridiculous political talk shows. But when it comes to actual sports talk, I do quite a bit. I’m not going to be able to run from any story and I certainly can’t run from this one. The Chiefs went to Denver in arguably their biggest regular season game of Patrick’s career and got thoroughly outplayed and blew a more than winnable game multiple times. blew a fourth quarter lead and in that singular game, Bo Knicks played better than Patrick Mahomes. That is what happened. I could not have been more shocked watching a game than I was watching that one because I the Chiefs are healthy for the most part. I know they don’t have PCO. The Chiefs right now are a healthier than average NFL team for this point in the season. They were off a buy. They had full motivation, a lot of familiarity with that opponent and Patrick was off and the defense could not get a stop when it mattered. And so on the offensive side of things, first second play of the game, you have Xavier Worthy open for six. Yeah, it’s a tough throw because it’s 60 yards in the air, but those are the throws that in, you know, partly made Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes, he missed him. That would have been a chance to just basically set the tone for the game immediately. Missed that opportunity. Obviously, you know, they had a sequence right before the Patrick interception and this this might have been the single biggest swing of the game. Patrick throws a little swing pass to Kareem Hunt. He gets down to the two yard line. They’re going to have first and goal from the two. Jawan Taylor. Illegal formation. Lined up too far back. Instead of first and goal from the two, it becomes first and 15. Two plays later, Patrick makes a terrible throw. And instead of at least being without the penalty, it’s probably going to be 13-6. With the penalty, it still should be at least nine to six. Throws a pick. Denver drives down and scores. Despite all that, Kansas City fights back, scores a couple touchdowns, takes a lead, has the ball in the fourth quarter with a lead. Go down, score a touchdown. Game over. Three and out. then gets the ball back. Tie game. Four minutes. Perfect. Not going to cover the three and a half, but still drive down the field, kick a field goal, win the game. Three and out. And then on the defensive side of the ball, first drive of the game, first play sack. have them in second and 16, which turns into third and seven. Give it up. Later in that drive, have them in third and 11 outside of field goal range. Give it up. And on the final drive of the game after those two offensive threeand outs, you instantly have Bo Knicks in third and 15 and you can’t get a pass rush and you give up a 20- yard completion. Three plays later, it’s third and six, still not in field goal range. And you give up a sevenyard completion. Denver made the high leverage plays. Kansas City did not. And Denver now is a strangle hold on the division. And I can think what I want and still think about Bo Nicks and his long-term viability as a franchise quarterback. But the fact of the matter is on Sunday, he played, in my opinion, the best game of his career in the second biggest game of his career. The only game that would have been bigger is the playoff game. And he was excellent. Excellent. might be strong. He was He was good. Certainly more than good enough. And Denver now has a buy and then back-to- back soft games at the Commanders, at the Raiders, and then a very tough final month of the season. But they should go into that month 11 and two. Then Packers, Jags at the Chiefs, home for the Chargers. So tough month, but three of the four games are at home. The one road game is Christmas night at the Chiefs. And so Denver right now is the one seed. I would not. My money would be on Denver finishing as the two right now. If I had to, if I had to handicap it, I would say New England won, Denver 2, Indie3. But Denver deserves credit. And Shawn Peyton talked at halftime to Tracy Wolson and backed it up. Said, “I like where we are. They’re a first half team. We’re tight. I thought it was outrageous what he said. He backed it all up. What’s so what’s interesting is internally the Chiefs still feel like this team can be and should be better than last year’s team with the offensive line being that much so much better and the wide receiving core being healthy and maybe it can be But they are butting up against that potentially not mattering. And here’s what I mean. They they’re five and five. Obviously, if they go seven and0, they’re a lock for the playoffs. And at 7 and0 they actually would have a chance to come all the way back and win the division. But it would be and even though they’re favored in every game remaining, given the fact that they’re five and five, just sitting here saying they’re going to rip off seven straight would be overly optimistic even for me. But 7-0 definitely gets him in. six and one, which would put them at 11 and six, almost assuredly gets them in. But five and two probably does not. And that is the thing that I think if we’re going to have an honest conversation about where the Chiefs are, what has to be acknowledged is they probably only have one more loss to play with, barring ing a true collapse by the Jags or the Chargers. And that’s the that’s the anxietyinducing part because I listen I Yes, of course you’d rather win the division. You’d rather be the one seed. you’d rather all these things, but as the Chiefs proved a couple years ago, they can go on the road in the playoffs against a gauntlet, a far tougher AFC that year than what potentially exists this year and win playoff games in Buffalo, in Baltimore. They can do that. So being even the seven seed in the AFC this year wouldn’t be devastating. Like if I’m right about how the bracket falls if you’re the seven seed, what you’re staring at is a rematch of that game we just saw this past weekend in Denver. third time playing each other and then a trip to New England. Again, you don’t love any of those spots, but historically the seven seed in the AFC, what it would mean is they are going to Buffalo and then either to Baltimore or to Kansas City against those MVP quarterbacks. This is a little different. So, as the seven seed, I actually wouldn’t hate the path if the bracket holds the way I, you know, it likely should. The the concern is if the Chiefs just after starting five and five just go five and two the rest of the way and it puts them at 10 and seven. Will they will because of tiebreers they miss out? Because here is what is noteworthy right now. The Chiefs have lost head-to-head to Jacksonville. They also have four conference losses already. They have lost head-to-head to the Chargers. They will get the Chargers again obviously, but the Chiefs are one and two in the division. The Chargers are three and 0 in the division. The Chiefs have two AFC losses. I’m sorry, four AFC losses. The Chargers have two. So, it is going to be very difficult for the Chiefs to make it in over the Jags. Well, impossible over the Jags if they have the same record and very difficult for them to make it in over the Chargers if they have the same record. So then again, you start counting wins. and the Jags. This is what they have left at the Cardinals, at the Titans, home Colts, home Jets, at Broncos at Colts, home Titans. So, if we just say, and again, the Jags are known to blow a game or two. I understand that. But if we just give them the wins against the Titans and the Jets, that puts them at nine. They would then just need one win against Cardinals, Broncos, and two Colts games to get to 10. And again, a 10- win Jags team gets a spot over a 10- win Chiefs team. The Chargers are sitting at seven wins. They play the Raiders. They’re on a buy. Then they play the Raiders. Then home for the Eagles. than at the Chiefs, at the Cowboys, home for the Texans, at the Broncos. And that Broncos game is a tricky one because it’s possible that in that game, Denver is locked into its spot. Now again, that’s it’s too many moving parts to that, but it’s possible Denver goes into that game where they can’t catch they can’t be the one seed and they’re not going to fall below two or three and maybe they rest guys. I don’t know if they would, but that that Charger game at Denver, it’s at least on the board. They’re playing the Denver backups. So, they’re at seven wins. If we give them the win against the Raiders, which puts them at eight, Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Texans, Broncos, if they can win two of those, that puts them at 10. And again, it’s not guaranteed, but a a 10- win Chiefs team would not in all likelihood have the tiebreaker over a 10- win Charger team. They would if somehow like one of the Chargers losses was to the Raiders instead of the Eagles. But if the Chargers get to 10 wins by beating the Raiders, the Texans, and week 18 against Denver, and loses to the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, the Chiefs don’t have that tiebreaker. And that means a 10- win Charger team would get in over Kansas City. So, here’s and I’m not even going to get I know some people are trying to force Houston into the playoff conversation. Houston is at five and five. Their next three are Bills, Colts, Chiefs. Obviously, if the Chiefs lose the Texans game, they’re probably screwed anyway. And if the Texans lose the Chiefs game, they’re screwed. So, I’m not I’m not worried about the Texans. It is though, right now, unless the Chargers or Jags really fall apart, the Chiefs have to go six and one down the stretch. That’s where we’re at. That is the reality of the tie breakers, the head-to-head, the awful loss to Jacksonville that should have never happened that is kind of looming over this season right now and not being able to make plays in the winning moments this year. Crazy stat from Scott Kasmar. the Chiefs the two years full seasons prior to this one. So the 23 and 24 seasons they gave up two total third and 10 or longers on defense in the fourth quarter of one score games. They’ve given up one of those in four of their five losses this year. That’s how at this point last year they were nine and one despite scoring fewer points per game, allowing more points per game, and having a worse turnover margin than the team does this year. They’re not making the plays when it matters. And that’s a huge skill of being a championship football team. Now, if that’s enough doom and gloom, what definitively is true is if they are able to rip off six of the next seven, they will go into the playoffs incredibly dangerous and with a higher ceiling than last year’s team. But that means you’ve got to obviously beat the Titans and the Raiders on the road, beat the Cowboys on the road. Those are your three games against teams with a losing record. And then Colts, Texans, Chargers, Broncos, all at home. You got to go three and one with I guess the game you would like to lose of those the most would be the Broncos game. And so that’s the that’s the spot they’re in. and we’ll see how they respond. It is. I am not going to engage at all. And there seems to be a very concerted effort from folks in the media that are diehard Patriot fans to try to use this 10 games of Mahomes’s eighth season as some Brady Mahomes referendum or some Chiefs Pats Dynasty referendum. I it’s obviously idiotic and it obviously um just recreates history as far as what you know the es and flows of the Patriots run actually were. I I so I’m not going to spend time on that in the first eight years of Tom they missed the playoffs twice just flat missed them twice that the the I think that is we will see how this year goes and then we can do an accounting of the dynasties whether we want to start from 01 to08 versus the first eight years for Patrick. Or if we want to compare it to their best eight years, which was 11 to 18 versus these eight years, that 11- 18 team is the only, you know, they made eight straight conference championship games. Uh the Chiefs record right now is at seven straight. At the end of this season, we can do an a dynasty for dynasty accounting. doing it right now and pretending like by Tom’s eighth year he hadn’t already missed the playoffs twice, missed one entire season due to injury. uh and like is just disingenuous but it it informed me in a way I didn’t realize that there there was a lot of dynastic insecurity potentially emanating from New England about what the Chiefs could potentially do to how they how people view the Pats run versus the Chiefs run. I didn’t view it that way. I think the patch run is one of the greatest things in the history of the sport and very unique as far as do you view it as three separate eras 01 to04 the 10ear Super Bowl drought in with the undefeated season in the middle of it which is insane of 05 to13 and then the unbelievable run from 14 to 18 on the back end. Is that how you view it? Do you view it as one long Ron, do you like there’s I think what the Patriots with Tom and Bill did is going to be almost impossible to duplicate as far as the longevity of it. That’s separate from what Patrick and the Chiefs are doing. But we’ll see how this year goes and we can do like a, you know, greatest dynasties ever tale of the tape. Um, but there was just a lot of from folks that I a lot of chirping. Maybe it’s because the Patriots are good this year out at New England. That feels a touch premature. Just a touch. And I’m going talk to Colin about it today on TV. We’re three weeks removed from the Chiefs and Patrick both being overwhelming MVP and Super Bowl favorites. And now listen, we are where we are. I just laid out the scenario where they could miss the playoffs. I’m not going to act as if that’s not real. But I’m also not going to act as if, let me fix this a little bit. I’m also not going to act as if the sky has fallen. It could fall. We have to acknowledge the sky could fall, but a little reactionary there in my opinion. All right, the Eagles, as I’ve been saying all year, in a lot of different ways, remind me so much of last year’s Chiefs. the defending Super Bowl champs that keep winning games and people keep saying, “Yeah, but that win didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy the way I wanted to, but they keep winning.” And even also as an added bonus, some controversial officiating mixed in as well that people get upset about. To be clear, it obviously was a bad DPI call that ended Eagles Lions. But also to be clear, anyone that watched that game and thought if Jared Goff got the ball there, the Lions were going to go score is being disingenuous. That Eagles defense dominated the Lions up front the whole game. So, here are my biggest takeaways from Sunday Night Football. Start with the Lions quickly. The if that offensive line doesn’t start playing better, they are going to be in trouble against the best D lines and Jared Goff can’t sustain that. And the Lions who look so fast and so dynamic indoors, their path now, right now they, you know, Lions, Chiefs, hold on. Lions, Chiefs, Ravens, Texans, all on the outside looking in of the playoffs right now. The re I don’t know why the Tech Oh, that’s what I was thinking. Lions chief, sorry, Chiefs, Ravens, Texans along with the Bills have been the final four in the AFC each of the last two years. Three of the four on the outside looking in, but Lions, Chiefs, Ravens, three of the five Super Bowl favorites going into the year right now, all on the outside looking in on the playoffs. But that’s not the Lions path now. Potentially being on the road with what is all of a sudden a good but not dominant offensive line. That is concerning for them. The Eagles defense got healthy, added Jaylen Phillips, and now after being a major question mark to me early in the year is the strength of their team. The criticisms about the offense are fair. The offense has been bad. Squan is not explosive. Jaylen Herd seems, I don’t want to say afraid, but overly cautious or hesitant to throw the ball unless it’s wide open or third and forever and he has no choice. All of that is really concerning. And then you add to it Lane Johnson being out for what is being called four to six weeks, which I don’t know if you can trust that is super concerning. Them scoring 26 points in their last two games is problematic. With that said, they they have the division locked up already. They have plenty of time to hopefully get Lane Johnson back before the playoffs. And with how tough the Rams remaining schedule is and the Bucks going on this little losing streak, it sure feels like Philly is pretty well positioned to be the one seed. Have the playoffs go through the link and the offensive struggles be damned. That defense in January playoff games, you’ve got to like their chances. So, I’m not going to act like the offense hasn’t been problematic, but I am going to acknowledge that I do think winning is a skill. I think Philly has such a deep, talented roster. They can overcome a totally anemic offense and if they get the one seed and they’re at home resting while the Rams is the two seed potentially have a wildcard weekend playoff game of you know Green Bay coming to town. That doesn’t sound fun. So Phillies position themselves really well by winning these games. Even if they’re winning ugly, the Jaylen hasn’t been very good. The offense has not been good. It has not mattered. A quarterback who has been good is Josh Allen. And listen, I am used to the Josh Allen media narrative, which is if he plays poorly or they lose, we kill the roster. And when he plays like he did Sunday, he’s the MVP and the best player in the league. I’m used to it. We’ve been doing it for five years. I’m fine with it. what they did Sunday is what I’ve been encouraging them to do all year. And you might be like, “Oh, you encourage them to score 40 points.” No. What I’m saying is the dink and dunk ball control run the balls offense does not work with a Bills defense as bad as this one. So instead, you have to fullon unleash Josh Allen. You’re going to get a few of those just idiotic turnovers like the two-handed chess pass out of his own end zone which was just absolutely bananas. You’re going to get that and you just got to deal with it. just the cost to doing business because it’s it unleashes him and that version of Josh is as scary as any player in the league. And so that’s where and I argued with Wilds about this yesterday. He he thinks the Bills have no real shot. And I I just disagree with him. They they are far, you know, far from a perfect team. But when you let Josh just go, sorry for the cringe here, the full yolo, they can beat anybody. And my Bucks, that’s a game you could have stolen. And I gotta tell you, I I really thought Todd BS made a big mistake. So, here’s what the Bills had done in this game. Here’s what their drives were. Interception, touchdown, touchdown, interception, touchdown. a three and out where they went three and out because Josh while scrambling threw it 12 yards past the line of scrimmage tried to lateral but threw it forward so lost it down they had to punt. They then muffed their own punt so they didn’t get a possession. field goal touchdown touchdown. And in that moment when Tampa has stopped the Bills once the entire game without forcing a turnover, they have forced one punt the whole game. It is the fourth quarter. There is seven and a half minutes left. You’re down five. you have a fourth and two and Todd BS punted it away and I hated it so much because not surprisingly the Bills respond eight plays 85 yards just immediate touchdown and it ended the And so the Bucks I listen I think I still think the Bucks are really good and six and four given the injuries. There’s no shame in that. Losing the last two games the way they did though test against the Patriots. They don’t they’re take the lead early and then the Patriots kind of dominate them the rest of the way. and then a Bills game where they had plenty of opportunities and they they couldn’t get over the finish line. Now they go to the Rams and this stretch we said all year they can go one and two in this stretch. 0 and three would be rough. So huge game against the Rams for my Bucks. You ever notice how everything seems to keep going up, rents going up, streaming services are going up, your favorite burrito spots charging you extra for salsa? With Boost Mobile, don’t deal with that. You and your phone bill don’t have to play the will this go up soon game. Why? Because Boost Mobile has unlimited talk, text, and data at a pl at a price that’ll never go up. In fact, same price you will pay for life. Switch now. Unlimited wireless at a price that’ll never go up. only at Boost Mobile. After 30 gigs, customers may experience lower speeds as they remain active on the Boost Unlimited plan. All right, let me get to a few of like the other games in some quick hitter fashion. So, Rams Seahawks was a unique one because I actually came away even more impressed with the Seahawks defense. Uh, I know the Rams are the defense that forced the four turnovers, but the fact that Darnold could not stop turning the ball over and the Seahawks defense kept the Seahawks in this game, I thought was remarkable. Right now, the Rams do look like the most complete team in the NFL. And it definitely about, excuse me, would not surprise me if the Rams make the Super Bowl. Um, you guys know how much I’ve liked this scene the last couple years and how much I like Stafford and Stafford’s still the clear MVP favorite. But the Seahawks are for real, which is why it’s a shame that we are now getting a growing volume of evidence that Darnold in big spots just plays his worst ball, man. And that’s a shame because he’s played so well for the last two years. But his bad games in big spots are not like ah he wasn’t that good. They’re they’re meltdowns. And that is uh if you’re a Seahawks fan, that’s gonna have you’re gonna have a little pit in your stomach the rest of the year worrying about that. the other games from week 11. The Patriots blows blow out the Jets on I don’t even know if I call it blowout. The Patriots beat the Jets on Thursday Night Football. The Jets are now benching Justin Fields. That game was gross. The Dolphins beat the Commanders 1613 in an even grosser football game where Mike McDaniel I but some of the game management stuff at the end of that game like not kicking a field goal in the final minutes of a tie game against Marcus Mariota. I just don’t understand. And I’m typically aggressive by nature, but you you’re not a power running team. You’re playing Mariota. They ended up winning anyway, but my god, Miami Packers beat the Giants 2720 and a game that it feels like if Jackson Dart were playing, the Giants maybe could have stolen. I don’t think you watch that game and feel great about the Packers. Bears beat the Vikings 1917 to go to first place in the division. Another final second comeback that they should not have needed. You’re up 16 to3 on JJ McCarthy in the fourth quarter and you almost blow it. And listen, credit to the Bears for getting to seven wins. That was an ugly one. Lot of ugly close but ugly football this weekend. Texans beat the Titans 1613 and it it Cam Ward had one great drive. The Titans are just a total mess. Texans defense unbelievable. Offense seems like with Straoud or Davis Mills, it’s just capped at around 16 17 points. Bryce Young plays the game of his life in the pros, 400 and some yards as the Panthers stay right in the thick of the playoff race, get to six and five, beating the Falcons in overtime. Brutal loss for the Falcons and and bigger loss. Penn out for the year. And remember, the Falcons don’t have their first round pick cuz they traded it to the Rams. That might end up being the sixth, seventh pick of the draft. Steelers beat the Bengals thanks to a bunch of defensive scores. Rogers um has a small fracture in his left wrist. Uh but he wants to play. We’ll monitor that. I don’t think there’s a huge difference right now between Rogers and uh Rudolph, but the Steelers, you know, keep the Ravens at bay for now. And the Ner’s beat the Cardinals in one of the most bizarre football games ever played where Jacobe Brassette now has the all-time NFL record for completions in a game with 47. But Perie comes back in, looks great, and the Niners get to seven wins and they stay right in the thick of the playoff hunt. Uh Jason asks, “Nick, at the end of the season, where do I think Jackson Smith and Jig will be viewed in terms of top receivers in the league?” Top three. Somewhere in the top three along with Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase. Rough weeks for those guys, by the way. Justin Jefferson having a down year and Jamar Chase spitting on a Jaylen Ramsay. Um T asked, “Do you think it’s a coincidence that Braun is choosing to come back with almost exactly 65 games remaining?” Um no, I well yes I do think it’s a coincidence and no I listen I don’t think he’s going to be eligible. So what what T is implying is that you know LeBron is giving himself the chance to make the 65 game threshold. I would be shocked because he’s missed 14. The most you can miss is 17. I would be shocked if LeBron only sits three games the rest of the year. First of all, he has to in year 23 stay fully healthy the rest of the year and then they also have to not rest him ever really except for three games. So no, I think that the AllNBA streak which is at what is it at 22 straight 21 straight seasons. This is year 23. He’s made the AllNBA team ever. Yeah. So 21 straight years of being an AllNBA player. that is not dead, but certainly on life support for Braun, uh, with only three games to play with. And I just don’t think he’s I think he’s going to I think he’s probably going to play closer to 55 than 65 games this year. And for those of you wondering, 21 AllNBA teams, what’s second most, Duncan, Kareem, and Kobe tied for the second most with 15 each. Um, Jay says, “Is it on the board that Browns Kevin Stfansky do not know how to develop quarterbacks? And is he still getting too much grace out of that coach of the year and the greatness of Miles Garrett?” I don’t understand uh at all the uh I don’t understand at all the Kevin Stfansky, Andrew Barry love. That team has been Miles Garrett’s unbelievable. Defense is really good. they can’t win games and they’ve been there for a long time and they have absolutely year after year botched the quarterback situation. So, no, I I uh I I I don’t understand their job security. Like, rate, subscribe, review to the show. We greatly appreciate it. Huge shout out to Blue Duck and to Volume uh Deontay who’s still on paternity leave. And again to our wonderful sponsors, Hard Rock Bet, Boost, GLD, and of course our friends at Zen. 1. For me the key difference between Mahomes and Brady is that Mahomes was owned by both Tampa and the Eagles in his Super Bowl losses. Brady lost 2 tight games to the Giants against great defence and threw for 500 yards and 3 TDs Qbr 116 against the Eagles. Mahomes couldn’t complete a pass until the Eagles second string were on the field.

  2. LOL stop comparing mahomer to Tom. They aren't in the same universe. It's just pure delusion. He isn't that good and won't have nearly as long of career. He isn't as good. Isn't as smart. Isn't as good at pocket passing. Isn't as disciplined and his play style won't translate the same way. There is no 40 year mahomie career. he is already fallling off and will continue to

  3. when you’re wrong about all your “non” chief game picks, and your chiefs game picks. Then what have you been right about?? you gone need a bounce back this week in them picks😂

  4. Did you just fault Brady for the Pats missing the playoffs in 2002 when he led the league in TDs.. as well as 2008 when his knee was shredded minutes into the season..?

  5. Where was the jet sweep that works against hyper agressive pass rush? The Broncos have 4 Nick Bosas going full bore. Jet sweep those guys. The play calling was horrible

  6. On paper, the Chiefs are better than last year's team, but they're just exhausted. They're just done competing at the highest level, at least for a bit. They've been at or near the top for eight years. It's just tough to keep that going, to find the energy, the motivation. Last year, they had the 3-peat to drag them through till they finally ran out of gas in the Super Bowl. This year, there's just not enough drive to do it again. They might be better off long-term if they miss the playoffs this year.

  7. Why can't the Chiefs have a bad season? It's not reasonable to think they will be in the SB or playoffs every single year. KC has played in 60 games over the past 3 years, with less rest than any team. Three straight SBs and 5 in 7 years has earned them grace for a bad season. I swear, fans can be so insufferable.

  8. I think continuing to characterize shadeur as a third round qb is the problem with your argument. He has been the backup for several weeks now, and a lot of former players have come forward and said that the number 2 guys usually gets a few reps in a week.

  9. What is the point of making a case that the Chiefs coulda', shoulda', won if they played better. That is true every week. The fact that Denver is a better squad never enters into the conversation. The Chiefs are a 5-5 squad because they are a middle of the road team with a tired defense carrying below average offense with no running game, depending on an aging TE at the end of his career for scoring. They are not that good now.

  10. I'm rooting for Patrick to be the undisputed GOAT too, because that would be super cool to see in my lifetime. But let's just say that injuries remove negative moments from their career, yah? Like an ACL in 2008 shouldn't count against Brady, but Patrick should get extra points for winning a superbowl on a busted foot, which I think is fair accounting from a sports fan's perspective.

  11. So what is your take on Shedeur? Did he fall in the draft on purpose as a way to get at his dad or was he drafted in the correct round based on his film from college?

  12. If the Chiefs were going to go 6-1 down the stretch and could choose their loss amongst the teams with winning records, the Colts would be the game you want to lose, not the Broncos. If you could choose any one game to lose, it would be Dallas.

  13. The Patriots and Tom Brady were great but the re-writting of their narrative is absurd. The 1st 3 SBs were all the defense, brady didn't becomes Brady till their 2nd run with Gronk and Randy Moss…Also vs the Jared Goff Rams they won 13-3 in the SB, also not a great look for Brady and another great defense for New England, but it never is brought up.

  14. I credit the NBA for trying to reduce load management, but I think the threshold for games to be eligible for awards needs to be closer to 50 than 65. If a guy like Wemby plays almost 80% of the season and is clearly the best defensive player in the league, he deserves the DPOY, in my opinion.
