I would rather him go to Toronto than FL.

  1. Why? What reasons? This headline is telling me literally nothing other than the opinion of whoever wrote it, which is essentially meaningless

Edit: also this pretty much ignores his awful contract. Does FL even have the space to take on his 8 million a year? Last I checked they were up against the cap and I’m not sure bringing an aging, underperforming vet is what they’re looking to do.

  2. Most of this is fantasy league “experts” who know nothing about hockey. Stamkos is more likely to land with a contender who will use him as a PP specialist and the Panthers do NOT need that. I Detroit and Ottawa come to mind

  3. Neither makes sense. Why would anaheim take a pp spot from one of their young guys? Florida couldn’t afford his cap and he’s not going to do much when they’re healthy anyways.

  4. I honestly think Anaheim should be the move for him if he doesn’t come home. Gets to play with Killer again, great core around him, and warm weather.

  5. Honestly, do the Panthers even need him? He’s not good enough for their top 6, even with the injuries; he doesn’t fit their DNA for the bottom six; they have enough leaders in the locker room.

Given their needs at the trade deadline, they could use that $4M elsewhere (assuming they would get him at 50%)

In an ideal world, they grab another D-Man and potentially someone for the bottom-6.

I could also see them going for someone like Bunting.

  6. What kind of crazy talk is this? Panthers? That would put me in a very strange state of mind.

  7. I don’t pretend to know hockey players but I feel like he would never go to FL. It’s not like he’s old and has no rings so he’d want to go to a team just to win a cup. He has all the leverage with a no trade clause so he’d be happy to stay in Nash until his career is over even if they are a last place team every year. There’s probably only a handful of teams he’d go to and I think he wants to be very careful about how he finishes his legacy after seeing firsthand the drama with St. Louis and how he isn’t treated as well by Lightning fans just by how he ended his career here compared to some players like Dave or Patty who only played a handful of seasons here.
