Elvis Set to Start in Net Tonight in Winnipeg, Blue Jackets @ Jets 😤 | Pregame Media

any lineup changes tonight? Um, yeah, Elvis will uh play goal. Um, and then Bell will go in for Chinoikov. You concerned at all about third periods not hanging on to leads? No. Um, listen, would we like to extend it? Obviously, um, would we like to hang on to it? There’s some circumstances um certainly last night in the games that we have given up um you know we we talked we missed an assignment on on their second on the third we break a stick and they score six on four basically um with a puck that just kind of seen eye that Jet didn’t see almost stopped. So are we concerned? No. Would we like to close out games? Yeah, of course. Um you know and we’ll learn from every situation and certainly learn from last night. You kind of said the situations are all different, but is there something you maybe go to the team and try to just emphasize not sitting back or doing anything different in games that you know because some of it’s human nature. You’re trying not to make mistakes, but do you have to just kind of extort them to make sure not to get too passive in those situations or Yeah, I don’t know if it’s passive. I just think that um you know, teams push and um you know and and like I said, maybe there’s a couple of circumstances we’d like to have back, some situations we’d like to um handle better. Um but you know, like I said, we you have to learn. It’s a long year and you can learn from every situation and um you know, we’re not complaining about two points, that’s for sure. We’re fun to learn after wins and losses, right? Yeah. Yeah. It’s nice to uh to have that learning experience, but you can learn learn through adversity too, right? Um we were putting in, you know, an adverse situation and you know, maybe we didn’t handle it uh as as well as we could. Next time we get in that spot, we will going to be in the same spot Chinikov was in. Um, no. We’re going to put uh Wood up with uh Monahan and KJ and Bell will play with um with Reese on the left and with uh Lundy on the right. The other two lines will stay the same. What do you like about Zack and Provas? Apparent um just sound, right? Uh they they’re they’re both big strong guys that uh that we can play. Um certainly at home against uh the team’s top line or the bigger lines um both defensively but both uh protect each other. Um you know we’ve talked a lot about that that we’re very comfortable you know flipping anybody around right like Fav has played with Z and and Waransky’s played with Z. Um I mean sorry my bad mate’s played with Z. Um and anyone that we put with him um will have success, that’s for sure. So um but yeah, that pair has been real good for us. How’s it benefited Z? I mean it’s it’s easy to say it’s benefited Proy, but has it benefited both of them as well? Yeah, I think I for sure. I mean, you know, Proy’s real good in front of the net. He’s heavier guy that uh that that can take a little bit more of the physicality around the front of the net. Um he can look after that area um you know and help him in that area. So, um, but yeah, and he he’s intelligent enough to back him up, but he still has an offensive, uh, side to his good as well. When it comes to Chinnikov, what do you want to see more from him when he’s in the lineup? Just compete, just, uh, sticking his nose in there. Um, using his speed to get in and, you know, we don’t think he’s done that enough. Um, you know, but he’s he’s played well. Um, but it’s just a situation where we got a backto back. We’d like to get Bell back in there. I’m sorry about KJ’s shootout goal and just because your reaction on the bench was classic. I just when you see that move, uh, what’s your reaction? I I don’t even know if I did I react. I’m I’m used to seeing it at this point. I mean, he’s he’s so skilled, man. It’s It’s crazy. I mean, it’s pretty automatic. Hey, man. Marchie, I mean, I got to start picking up some slack in a shootout here, especially with that move last night. But uh yeah, they’re both great. They’re uh really skilled and KJ especially, he’s a bit of a cheat code in the in the shootout. So it’s great. Can you just define his creativity in that moment? It’s just like it’s something I think he’s studied and and something that works really well for him. Um he comes down the right side and um he’s got a lot to do from from that side. He’s got a lot of moves in his in his bag. So goalie’s kind of back in a little bit and uh creates a lot more room for him. lost in all of the the wind and everything else was what I will call I will use a kids term that sick shootout move of yours. Where where does that move come from? Uh yeah, just uh I know kind of started doing it years ago. I don’t remember how long ago but uh maybe in college or whatever and uh yeah, it’s been a good one to to mix in. So uh yeah, it’s fun. How do you decide and when do you decide when to bring out a various move when you’re in a shootout situation? Uh yeah, just kind of like think about the goalie a little bit and you know try to try to think what would work on him and also like mix it up like I don’t want doing the same same move every time so they can pre-cout it. So uh I just try to mix it up a bit. What was the reaction like on the bench when you got back over? Uh yeah it was good. I mean guys are happy. I think anytime you score in a shootout no matter what the guys are happy and it’s obviously huge. So uh but yeah it was nice. Yeah. What do you expect tonight out of this team? Heavy team obviously uh can score. Uh it’s going to be a little bit different game than you’ve seen even in the last two. Yeah, I know they’re a really good team. Like you said, heavy big strong team. So, uh yeah, I know we’re gonna gonna have to battle and and play hard and uh and obviously try to get some on time. That move that’s kind of your move, right? Like you’ve that’s you’ve used that move a few times before we’ve seen, right? Yeah. Yeah. No, definitely. Yeah. Yeah. Was it the same as what you tried against the Rangers and the puck just kind of fell off your stick or was that a little bit Was it a little bit of a very you were a little maybe more exaggerated on her or was it a different move altogether or? Uh yeah, like similar but a little bit different like uh there’s something with uh the Rangers goalie like you know I had to shoot on him in the past so there’s something a little different. I was trying to like use a pass move uh against them but didn’t work out. So yeah, I did it a little bit differently but similar similar. Yeah. Yeah. And that’s that one just roll off your stick against the Rangers. Yeah, exactly. So, and I tell by your ration, you thought you’d probably think you thought you were score there. No, I was pretty confident because like I said, like I kind of was using like a pass move against him and I felt really good about the approach and Yeah. I think if I hit the net it was in, but uh Yeah. What can you do? Yeah. One game it goes in, one game it doesn’t. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Did you kind of feel a little more like yourself last night just as far as like creating doing some some of the things you want to do on the ice? Just it felt like as the game went on, you had the puck on your stick more. you were creating more things like that. Yeah, I know. I felt offensively like I mean like really good and I think even the last game too good too but uh yeah I think still like last game I got a little frustrated with like my puck battles. Got to win some more. Um and you know like one of those goals uh it was kind of my guy at the net but uh so yeah defensively like it wasn’t a great game but offensively it felt good. So uh yeah just got to keep moving forward and um yeah big one tonight. Yeah. and a chance to play with uh Monti again. Be nice to to feel like you guys can build some chemistry there and maybe keep playing together and get get that going. Yeah, I know. Definitely. Mani’s a great player, so lucky to get to play with him and yeah, excited to to, you know, hopefully build. I think we had a really good game in Winnipeg last year here together. So, uh that was fun. So, try try to build off that.
