They should have started him in 2009, his 08 season was really fun and he showed some promise.
The league just wasn’t ready for a mobile QB who primarily ran a lot of read option from the shotgun. This is back when we had Chan gailey and Daboll on the offensive staff.
This was the first time you saw a lot of pistol usage in the nfl, before that it was almost exclusively a normal shotgun set.
I was there during that Tampa Bay game…where we destroyed them in the first half…then shit the bed in the second. That first half sure was fun as hell though.

Fun story. Power and Light at the height of Thiggy Mania. Chiefs were out of it but me and the dudes were posted up outside Sol Cantina, like we were every week. Sitting next to a dude whose face was sooooo familiar but couldn’t quite place him. Realized it was Tyler and couldn’t have been a cooler guy. Hung out most the night and he went on to have another crazy fantasy week two days later!!
