The San Francisco 49ers Got A Gift From The Panthers Before Monday Night Football + Mac Jones Trade?
Coming up on today’s San Francisco 49ers report, Chase Senior here with you. Going into Monday Night Football in week 12, the Niners got a gift from the Carolina Panthers. Also, some Niners trade buzz. According to reports, there are multiple teams across the NFL who might want to trade for M. Jones this upcoming off season. And let’s begin here. The 49ers pass rush is in a bad spot. We know this. And the Niners didn’t do anything to upgrade the pass rush and the defensive line going into the trade deadline. Now, obviously the week before the deadline, San Francisco traded for Keon White. They added Cleveland Furl. Two moves that I really liked. But then what happened a few days later? Mel Williams got hurt out for the year. And the two starting defensive ends for San Francisco from opening day, Nick Bos and Mel Williams out for the year, both with torn ACLs. And so this has become this season one of the worst pass rushing units in the NFL. On Sunday, Cardinals quarterback Jacobe Brassette dropped back 57 times in the game at State Farm Stadium. The Niners only pressured him on 13 of those 57 dropbacks. And guess how many sacks they had? Goose egg zero. That is the third game this season where this Niners defense did not have a sack. That is not a sustainable or winning model as far as how to win football games. And so this Ner’s pass rush currently has 12 sacks through 11 games. The Ners are on pace for 18 and a half sacks this season. That would be the lowest total since sacks became a stat at the NFL level. And isn’t this crazy? Bryce off leads the NerS with four sacks. Guess who’s number two? Nick Bosa, who has not played since week three and did not have a sack since week two. So this Ner’s pass rush right now, they have 12 total sacks. That is 32nd, dead last in the NFL. They have 107 total pressures, 26th in the NFL. They only have 79 hurries as a team. That is 19th in the league. And their pressure rate is 26.23% also dead last in the NFL. But how about this? The gift for the Niners going into prime time at Levi Stadium is that this Carolina Panthers defense and this pass rush for the Panthers has arguably a worse pass rush than the Ners. And if you don’t think it’s worse, it’s nearly as bad. You don’t believe me? Of course we have numbers to back up this talking point. The Panthers have 16 sacks as a team. That’s 28th in the NFL. pretty close to the NerS there. They have 142 pressures, less than the ners. That’s 30th in the National Football League. They have 90 total hurries. That’s 25th. And this stat is pretty mind-blowing, right? The Niners pressure rate 26.23%. 32nd in the NFL. The Panthers pressure rate according to Sumer Sports is 38.17%. That is the difference from 31 to 32. And obviously this Niners offensive line has been a little bit of a problem this year, but Brock Pury should have a lot of time to throw. And this is not going to be a game if you love teams who can get after the quarterback that you’re going to enjoy because both of these squads, they lack pass rushing units and just pass rushing talent. Now, how the Panthers stack up on offense, this is also another gift. They’re terrible. Bryce Young the back half of last year played better than CJ Strad. And obviously Bryce was taken ahead of CJ Strad and so they’re always going to be compared. This year though, Bryce has regressed. He can’t move. He’s small. Doesn’t have that strong of an arm. And it’s really a credit to Dave Canal that the Panthers have been as competitive as they have been this year. On offense, they are averaging 18.8 points per game, 28th in the NFL. They’re 22nd in yards per game, 26th in yards per play, 24th on third downs, 20th in the red zone. And on defense, one of the worst pass rushing units in the NFL. They’re 13th in points per game, which is actually pretty impressive. 15th in yards per game. Also impressive because they can’t get to the quarterback. They are 23rd in yards per play, 29th on third downs. A big reason why the defense has been able to remain competitive like the Niners. They buckle down in the red area. Ninth best red zone touchdown scoring percentage for Bryce Young this year. He’s completing less than 63% of his passes. He’s only thrown for 1,962 yards, 14 touchdowns, seven picks, has a quarterback rating of 86, and his passing yards per game pretty gross here, 196.2. So, this bodess well for the Niners to win again, which would move them to 8-4, which would obviously greatly enhance their playoff chances as the season progresses here. So, who you got? We’ll be doing a preview this week, as we always do. Type C A R for Carolina, SF for San Francisco. Let me know down in the comment section right now. Coming up next, according to reports, M. Jones drawing some trade buzz and interest. We’ll get into that coming up just around the corner. But today’s San Francisco 49ers report is brought to you by Prize Picks. All right, this is a story that’s only going to continue to pick up buzz now going toward the off season. And it’s the trade availability and the trade asking price and the trade interest for Niners backup quarterback M. Jones who did a terrific job in stepping in for Brock Pury going five and three with pretty sheld Ian Rapaort the other day with this report that with his starting stint coming to an end, quarterback M. Jones has emerged as a prime trade candidate for 2026 for the league full of teams that need a quarterback. Something else that’s huge here, there are some draft eligible quarterbacks in college football who could decide to go back to college football, which thus makes the quarterback draft class thinner, which makes the desperation level for teams who want a quarterback greater, which could in turn increase the price tag for what a team would be willing to give up for M. Jones if they want to sweeten the deal. Here’s what Rap Sheep said about Mac. What M. Jones did for himself this year and for the 49ers was reestablish himself as a start starting quarterback that can win games and he has one year left on his contract with the ners. So surely wonder if they will end up trading him this off season they are going to have interest in M. Jones other teams there are going to be many many teams in what could be a lackluster quarterback draft who need a guy and M. Jones has shown, as he did as a rookie, that he is a guy. And this is also a great example of what elite coaching can do. Kyle Shanahan bringing out the best and maximizing M. Jones. And I’ll tell you this, M. Jones is going to have a lot of trade value. He plays the most important position. He played really well this season. If he can go to a place where he has a good offensive scheme and play caller that fits him, he has shown like he did with Kyle Shanahan that he can thrive and he can have a lot of success. If Kendrick Bourne doesn’t have to be his number one, I think you’ll see the long ball be on display for Mack. More explosive plays, but he didn’t have a lot of help at the receiver spots. Kendrick Bourne the number one. Jawan Jennings down year hurting. George KD not playing. Ricky Pearaw hurt for a lot of Max starts. So, you wonder if the Niners would pull the trigger on this. And you wonder what happens if the Niners get offered a first round pick for M. Jones or a second round pick for M. Jones and they really like Curtis Ror who they drafted in the seventh round out of Indiana. Could he be QB2, another Kyle Shanahan developmental player? Then you draft a quarterback to fill out your quarterback room and then you get additional draft capital to try to continue to build your football team. I will say this, I don’t know if I would trade M. Jones if I were the NerS. M. Jones might have more value on the NerS than what San Francisco could get back for him because he has shown that he is a great scheme fit for Kyle Shanahan. That Kyle Shanahan really likes him. You see why he liked him in the pre-job process in 2021. But M. Jones signed a two-year deal for less than $9 million, meaning he’s under contract next year at a very affordable rate. Brock Party’s been injured in 2022. He got hurt in 2024. He got hurt in 2025. Yes, he signed that big contract, but where would this Niner season be without Mack? They’d be cuckooked. Instead, during the playoff race with Mack, because he’s a highle quarterback. And so, with the injury uncertainty around Brock Perie and how cheap M. Jones is I don’t know if I would even trade him for a first or a second round pick because if Perty does go down next year or this year, you know, you have a quarterback who you can count on at a very affordable rate who can help win you games and keep you as a playoff team. And if he needs to play in the playoffs, we have seen that Mack can have a lot of success. What a year. Completed nearly 70% of his passes during his eight starts while Perty was out. more than 2100 yards, 13 touchdowns, six picks. Some of those picks not on him. A quarterback rating of 97.4, 268.9 passing yards per game, top 10 in the NFL. So again, a storyline that we will continue to monitor here as we look ahead to the off season, the trade value of M. Jones and teams who might be calling about M. Jones. And obviously a lot of this could be decided by which quarterbacks in college football right now to clear for the draft. Who ya got on Monday Night Football? Type CAR or SF
It would be a mistake to get rid of MAC JONES ,
Keep max jones
Chase you need to double check your stats before you put them on air. According to Sharp Analysis, the 49ers are 31st at 28.8% and the Panther are 32nd at 27.5% in pressure rate.
If the Panthers were at over 38%, they'd be top 15.
If Kyle Lynch do this trade with Mac Jones, that’s a big mistake. I’m sick of Kyle Lynch get rid of them.
Purdy can't go 16 games a season without getting injure, so it's best to keep Jones as a Niners
What is wrong with Kyle Lynch wanna make a trade maybe a Mac Jones why? What is wrong with this guy? Is he getting drugs?😮
Sf
Don't trade Mac Jones 😮😮😮😮
SF
Gotta stop Dowdle
Still hoping jj watt come out of retirement for the 49ers 😂
My prediction is both mac jones and brock purdy will be 5-3 for the season. So they'll be 11-6 by playoff time.
CAR
Mac Jones and Purdy are similar to Montana/Young back in the day… two excellent QBs on staff.
If we get a 1st or 2nd trade him. Do that for us and Mac himself. He deserves it.
S.F of course go niners
I put my trust in God, 100% I always will and I always will. You’ll always always always will put my trust in God. He’s the only one I trust who can I trust nobody but God Almighty he keeps his promises❤😊
I’m glad you said this is true. He was some believers. Don’t even trusting God and I like what you said I meant that is 8:47 PM in Chicago on Tuesday so I wanted to respond to this and good night good evening or good afternoon. don’t be late for church on Sunday morning. Don’t forget your offer and your tidying to the Lord God is goodto me. Every day is Thanksgiving.😊😊😊
Keep Mac Jones. You need to have a serviceable 2nd string quarterback to fill in while your starter is out and injured. Mac Jones has proven that he is that guy for us.
It's crucial to get a pass rusher 😮
Keep the bend, don't break defense and Mac Jones
SF
Thanks Chase. The difference maker in our game Monday night will be if we can stop their run game. It is solid. We stop it…we win. "SF" I agree that Mac 10 will get a lot of calls. The only way Lynch will keep him as a back-up is if that is what Mac wants. But a trade is most likely because I'm sure he wants to be a starter in this league again. He will shine with in right system.
Well, let’s hope the Niners don’t get stupid and lose this game.
Is anyone surprised that other teams are looking at Mac Jones? Dude has had a good season.
Get rid of Lynch, Shanny & Broc + Cabo Crüe
49ers
Trade Broc better… Mac is better, Broc needs a team full of stars, Mac gets ball to anyona
SF!
It's time to wrap it up!
You can't win a SB let alone a playoff game without a pass rush.
Do not trade Mac Jones
Trade Mac jones and call me a Seahawks fan
This game against the Panthers has the makings of a trap game. I hope the Niners show up and play their best ball. We also need solid kicker help.
Sf
The stuff that matters that you’re not talking about is what is the stat for the Niners stopping the rush rating in the NFL. All your other stats are bullshit. Sometimes I wonder if you know what you’re talking about.
Sf
Carolina game is not a gimme like we all may have thought it would be at the beginning of the year. Both teams are fighting for the 7 seed, assuming Tampa Bay wins the south again
Niners need this game and the next two after that the Seahawks, colts and bears (not played in the order ) and 9ers will have 3 tough games on their hands
This is gonna be a tough game for sure
