I know this organization enough to tell you it’ll never happen. We’ll move Hughes for “win now” pieces.

Color me skeptical. Until I hear it directly from aqualooney’s mouth, it’s just another diversion tactic from the bluberry mogul.
I love his acknowledgment that fans want a rebuild. It’s progress.
Does this team need a rebuild?
Yes, yes they do. But also fuck them for wasting Hughes. The hockey gods won’t look kindly on the team getting a player like him and doing nothing until they are forced to trade him as he enters his prime.
Until Aquilini or someone from the front office says out loud that a rebuild will happen I don’t believe them.
I hear what all you rebuilders are saying but I don’t have any faith we’re ever going to win a draft lottery, so it’s all tanking for nothing anyway in my mind. Honestly don’t care either way at this point
What would a realistic Hughes to NJ trade look like if it happened in the summer?

Screw tank and rebuild. Edmonton won the ultimate lottery(s) and they haven’t won a cup. A couple of finals yeah, but we know the emptiness of losing in the final. We are all armchair gm’s who listen all day to sn650 and other shows that rage bait us into being mad and we honking we know what’s going to happen. Just rewind 30 years and try to enjoy the games. Specially while we have Hughes.
I mean, when looking at everything, NJ has the best assets, I just don’t know if they are going to want to give up too much when they can just poach him in FA. Unless they feel that the next two years is their best window to win.
They already have two puck moving d-men (Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec) and most d-cores don’t really have three d-men that profile like that . They are also stacked at Centre (Mercer, Hischier, and Jack Hughes)
I really hate talking about this. Like were were strong up the middle, had a Vezina caliber goalie AND had Quinn and somehow it was screwed up.
