The Tigers have secured Gleyber Torres for another year #DetroitTigers #Tigers #MLB #Baseball
Glabber Torres has accepted their qualifying offer of nearly $23 million a year. Now, I want to go to the wayback machine to when they extended it, and I was like, “Oh, no. Don’t do that.” I’m pretty sure the Tigers hadn’t offered a player a qualifying offer in 10 years. It may it may go back to like 2013 or 14. So, you you make the qualifying offer. Only a handful of players have ever accepted a qualifying offer because they go to the open market. What I said that day ended up playing out. Nobody wants Glab. Nobody. I mean, the reports were Glabber was seeking a 4-year deal, right? And I’m seeking a a a year-long vacation. Like, it’s not happening. So, what happened now is in the previous month since you made the qualifying offer, Gabber’s representatives have shopped the league. And you know what they found? I wouldn’t have extended the offer because No, it’s not just about McGonagal. It’s that I don’t want this player any No, because here’s what I fear. I fear they’ll sell this that we spent 23 million on a right-handed bat. What do you mean you want more from us? I’d rather take that money. I get it. Plus 7 or 8 million. I get it. And go get a Bob Bashette. Go get an Alex Bregman. Go get substantially better. So, this is a little bit of let’s keep the band together. What I will not speak to is whether they thought there was no way he would take the deal. So offer it, get a draft pick and everybody can roster bait over more prospect. I can’t speak to that. What I can tell you is what I told you that day is I never would have risked it because the money was too good. The reality is if Glabber signed a 4-year deal anywhere, it wouldn’t be at 23 million. He’d be lucky to get 15 million a

Gleyber was an all star and I believe led off the all star game but nonetheless he’s a decent fielder and his hitting did tank but for the entire first half he was the only one hitting and had the best average on the tigers
,seems like he has good demeanour and isnt a problem off the field so that counts for something ,and you could argue packaging that money for a bichette or Bregman but that argument only flys if they want to come here ,bregman already said no once and the betting favourite in Vegas is bichette stays with the jays so the gleyber signing isnt this doomsday move Mike is saying it is !
He’s one of the better hitters on the team. These dudes just find the negative in everything.
Why isn't Mike a general manager?
Negative Nancy and his minion always find a way point out they could do a better job running our teams, but here they are on the radio playing fantasy GM’s.
Nobody in the world likes the smell of their own farts more than Mike Valenti. Dude is such a turd💩
How is his hernia injury healing up?
