Yang’s little G-league stint served him well. Still makes plenty of rookie mistakes, but he’s showing flashes of his offense and passing.
Turns out point guard is a pretty important position in basketball.
This one hurt. Let’s get a win tomorrow and forget it ever happened.
OH NO WE SUCK AGAIN!
Tiago

Disaster 2nd half but there were some bright spots like Cling Kong and Yang.
Shaedon and Yang were cool… hopefully we do better against Chicago tomorrow
Yang looks solid, we need to get healthy, and we need a coach.
Imagine not getting home until after 11pm on a weeknight because you watched a nationally televised G league squad.
This team answers the question that everyone has been wondering… What if we built a team where absolutely fucking nobody can shoot the ball.
Sharpe looks more like I think was expected at the start of the year. Feels like he’s a competent 3 ball from being an all-star level player too. Not much else to take away from this game
The lack of depth clearly shows. A team giving healthy minutes to Love and Cissoko is meant for the tankathon, not a team trying to make a play-in game.
We just gotta solve our “talent deficiency” problem and we’ll bounce back
season was always gonna be tenuous with regard to injury – and we have gotten pretty fucked by the injury bug.
This is by far the worst Toumani game in his career, he should stop think about dribble at all. Shoot or pass make simple decisions.
At least Hansen had a ok game.
Yang looked like an nba level player tonight. Rough loss, but that was encouraging.
Kash Patel going to be checking the players phones after this game
Stealth tanking back on the menu
It’s obviously mostly due to not having a PG, but we are so incoherent right now. It’s concerning that there’s no two-man game between anyone, Splitter is pretty much just throwing random guys out there like he’s not coaching for his future, and Toumani has fallen off a goddamn cliff.
Remember guys we beat OKC
No PG just makes our lack of shooting hurt so much more.
Hansen can play, we need to have a coach to help him understand NBA defensive posotioning asap
Said it in the game thread but I don’t understand why we’re not playing Duop. The marginal defensive gains we make by playing Sidy over him don’t make up for Sidy’s abysmal offense especially for a team that is DESPERATE for consistent shooting. Putting Duop on the floor instantly makes Shaedon and Deni more effective. Having Sidy on the floor just clogs the paint because they don’t have to respect his 3 point shot OR his drive, just a net negative player. I don’t know the money details but we should’ve kept Jabari instead of Cissoko.
24% from 3. This might be the most patheticly piss poor shooting team I’ve ever seen. It’s laughably bad.
Time to Tank!
Rough one. I had a feeling this team would regret squandering so many close games already this season. That’s going to hurt when playoff (or play-in) math gets crunchy. The main silver lining there is that many teams continue to lose constantly (SAC, DAL, LAC, MEM, NO). A play-in spot is still there for the taking, and then at that point you just need to peak late and win a couple games. Could still happen.
A second silver lining would be lots of extra minutes for Yang. Realistically, letting DA walk and making Clingan the guy at C was always going to lead to some temporary pain until Yang grows into the role of the more offensive 5. At least there are signs of progress. He’s not explosive, but he moves quite well for such a big body. He will be able to get offense. This team needs that in the worst way.
Not a great night for most of the role players or end of the bench guys trying to show they are real NBA players. Love and Yang had moments at least.
Also Rupert may not have it, I’ve been lenient on him the past few years because of his youth but he’s just not good.
Hot. Garbage.
This team has to tell the NBA to turn up the sliders for 3pts, it can’t be this bad.
They should rest Shaedon til hes fully healthy
Yang was our best big man tonight and cling and rob weren’t bad. So that’s sick.
Wish splitter went to him earlier in the second half when we clearly needed a boost. Especially at home anytime yang breaths near the ball the crowd erupts. To not take advantage of that kind of momentum would be stupid, which Tiago managed to do.
PHX did a good job limiting Deni with agile bigs (Williams, Ighodaro). They need to open up the lane better so Deni can go 1 on 1 and beat the bigs with speed like he did late, rather than him driving into double teams.
I want to forget this game already. Caleb Love’s shooting and Sharpe’s continued very good play were the only positives.
I’m kind of annoyed that nobody on the bench can shoot. I don’t have anything against these dudes in particular but Sidy, Kris, and Rupert all essentially being the same player is kind of annoying – need some floor spacing coming off the bench because the offense is so brutal.
Also Toumani’s offense is….concerning to say the least. I like that they are giving him the leash to experiment a bit but the early returns are not good at all.
Also also the point guard situations is so bad. I wish we had any type of shooter or ballhandler on the last two-way rather than Cooke lol.
If you cut out the absolutely horrendous start of the third quarter (I think they outscored us 20-4 at a certain point), this wasn’t a completely terrible game. Turnovers were rough, some empty possessions where we gave up a decent shot to get a better shot and settle for a worse shot, but Yang had some good plays, Love showed some decent shot creation. Oh well, let’s see if we can survive to get a couple guys back and a get a couple wins.
Awesome start but the team was never deep enough to withstand so many injuries. I would love to see how Demi and Sharpe look if we had more shooting around them because it’s not like the defense could get any worse.
Now I know it’s early and we finally played well… would it be an awful idea to sell high on Jrue and Grant now? I know it blasphemous because we were playing very well when we were healthy but… it wouldn’t be the worst thing to play Yang this year and add 1 more top 10 pick in a loaded class to this team especially since our guys are locked up long term for the most part…
Dame/Scoot/Blake, Sharpe/Thybulle, Top 10 pick, Tou, Deni, Clingan/Yang
Bummer this was our first national broadcast this year. Not having Jrue or Jerami tonight was going to be tough from the jump as I think it would have been a little better. Was happy to see Yang get some run and show what he’s capable of.
hard to watch this team with all of the injuries but it was nice to see sharpe improving his game and watch yang play some real nba basketball. yang pass to sharpe cut was a highlight, feels like there is potential in that rotation for us while we are out of PGs.
hopefully dundon is watching and prepared to spend some money on a really good shooting coach.
That blow-out loss to the Rockets completely broke this team’s spirit.
Before that there were wins against OKC, Denver and Lakers, with every loss being a close game.
After that first blow out loss to the Rockets, we follow up with an OT loss to a bottom seed, and now a blow out loss at home against the Suns.
Man that 3-2 zone was not working for us tn
This Blazers team I feel is playing better under Tiago, but I do believe they aren’t playing up to their capabilities.
Wow that was almost impressive with how bad we played
Isn’t there some point guard in the G-League we could sign? Bring back Dalano Banton?
I thought Yang was super impressive give him the playmaking bench keys till we get a pg back.
Like I suspected he’s one of about 10 centres in the league with a post game (hello chill half offense where guys can rest and run outs aren’t so easy for the opposition).
As a hub he’s super patient and seems to have the knack for getting guys easy looks (Shae and Cidy assist). It’s obvious his team mates don’t know how to play with him yet nor the coaches respect him. Pressure will mount on the coaches to get him involved because of his obvious skill and $$$ he brings. The in arena crowd was going nuts for him can’t imagine the Chinese audience.
Huge silver lining for me tonight. We saw it in summer league, that one preseason game and g league but great to see it in an nba game. Honestly Shae, Deni and Dame are such great compliments for him getting any of those a step on handoffs is like automatic free throws or easy shot for Dame.
I was also very encouraged by Shae. His first step and ability to get to the line is a huge development. The shooting is what it is but I think at this stage he’s obviously more of a play finisher which will work in the future with Hansen, Deni,Scoot and Boozer 😉
