Elias Pettersson, Evander Kane & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Panthers (Nov 17, 2025)

Pet, let’s just start with what you saw from your team out there in this one. Yeah. Uh, obviously really good to score five goals against Florida. Um, but we let up seven and eight with the open net. Um, got to be better defensively. I was talking to Kane about this earlier, but a lot of time obviously spent in the box. Did that speak to just the the competition between these two teams and how much effect did that have on the game? Yeah, know it does. They’re a good team. They got a lot of skilled play players. Um but then again uh we go up two nothing um and then we should be able to get that to the house uh for the first period but I don’t know what’s the right answer is but just got to be better defensively. Uh Yuri Peter. I know it didn’t fall his way tonight but what can you say about that goalender? Yeah he everything has been up he’s been looking good. Uh he had an incredible save for their power play. Um he’s been playing good. We didn’t help him much today. Um but he um definitely gave us a chance to win today. You get two days before you take on Dallas. What’s the key to just resetting before that one? Yeah, reset. Um look at video on what we can do better. Um like where we’re going with the offense, but um the defense we got to tighten up and um be better as I collected. Of course, a bit of a back and forth game for you guys, but it doesn’t fly your way. What did you see from your team out there tonight? Yeah, I I think it, you know, it was one of those games where um you know, I think we took uh took some short breaks after we got up a couple of goals there. And um you know, they’re a they’re a hell of a team. They’re backto-back cup champions for a reason. And um you know I think it today would be a good learning lesson on how we got to continue to push and play no matter how many goals were up and we can’t afford to get comfortable. But uh you know I I liked some of the things. I mean we put up five goals ourselves only on a few shots. I think we need to have a little bit more of a shot mentality and getting pucks and bodies towards the net a little bit more and um you know and hopefully we can learn from from this game against a really strong team. A lot of time spent in the box on both sides. How much of an impact did that have on the game tonight? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it was a penalty fueled game uh for for a decent majority of it. Uh obviously we want to stay out of the box there, especially in certain situations, but you know, sometimes uh you know, you’re not always going to agree with the calls. And you know, we had our opportunities on the power play as well. We we capitalized on some, didn’t on others, but uh you know, like I said, I think we we just took too deep of a breath when when we got up or when we tied up the game in the third period. You know, they’re a team that’s not going to quit. And um you know I think we we got a a good lesson in that. I know it didn’t fall his way but Yuri Peter gets the start in at his first with you guys. What can you just say about him? I mean that might have been one of the best uh seven goal performances uh from a goalender I’ve seen. I think you know especially late in the first early in the second um you know when they really pushed they tie the game up and then they came and and got a couple quick there. I mean it could have been seven eight nothing in the second period. Uh so he did came in and did a really good job against a real tough opponent and uh a lot of credit to him. Adam, let’s start with your takeaways from the performance in this one. Well, you know, we we we were up two nothing. We made a little bit of a mistake on a rush goal on that PK. Uh we let them back in it. You know, they’re a potent offense and uh you can’t exchange chances, but you know um we were right there and we made a couple mistakes at the wrong time. I know it’s not the outcome you want for him, but Yur Peter gets the start in net tonight. What did you see from him? Well, he was strong, you know, early he kept up two nothing and, you know, there’s he played hard. Um, we gave him I think I think they had three semi breakaways in the first on him after that or the early second and so we didn’t really help him with that. We had a couple breakdowns that they took advantage of. So, um, we put him in a tough spot a few times, but, um, you know, it’s his first game in a while at this level and, um, you know, there’s there’s an adjustment, right? How much did all the time in the penalty bogs on both sides play into today’s game? Yeah, it was, you know, there was a lot called. It was it was bizarre at times some of the calls and everything was going on, but both teams were dealing with it. And uh you know um you know they got two on their PP, we got two on ours and uh it was more of just we we had our own couple breakdowns at the wrong time that uh let them back in it. You think it was just a couple breakdowns or what did you think defensively of the team effort tonight? We try. I mean, we tried. There was a couple, you know, we weren’t under a stick at one and the tip went in and then, you know, we we went out wide on the rush for we had 10 seconds left in the period, which is not what we usually do. But, um, you know, back to back. Maybe there’s some fatigue sets in as well. But, uh, you know, I thought Person and Huggy and, you know, Heronic and Kane that like our our older veteran players were going, they were humming. Uh, we, you know, a couple mistakes at the wrong time with a team like that, they’re experienced. they’re going to make you pay and um you know um but we have to find a way to take some of the good stuff that happened out of that too. Yeah. Too bad you couldn’t get any momentum when you make it 5’5 there to get a little more chance. They they get one right back. Make it 55 low to high. I think it was going wide. It uh you know we’re not under a stick. It happens fast. It’s uh you know that uh it’s something we got to learn from. A long ways to come for three games. One record against some good teams. What’s your overall take away from the road trip? Yeah, I mean we we want more. We always want more. Um, you know, Carolina, we held in there. Uh, had a big comeback last night. Uh, we’re learning from some teams that are very seasoned and experienced and um, you know, we’ve adjusted well to them. We’ve had some success, but um they’re great games to to learn from, especially our younger guys to see what it takes and um you got to stay focused for 60

  1. Ep40 at a .9 point per game , hughes at a .95 point per game thatcher demmer at a .905sv% sherwood at a 50 goal pace . The moment this team settles down their defence is a little bit. They will be unstoppable.

  2. time to split up myers and MP paring two dongalongs, they both play better when then pared with the yougsters or myers with hughes, its silly to stay up and watch this team defence backing into our own net to defend every game giving opponents all the time and space in the world and screening our goalie. forwards just standing still not pressuring. one goal we had 3 ppl behind our net wich resulted in a open goal, no structure at all. Boeser can score goals but he is slow af getting trolled around and on top of that cant pass simple passes last 3 games its painfull to watch moves when the puck already are at his feet with 0 speed getting danced around so easy. the defence should be this team bread and butter but latly its the worst i've seen AHL goalie or not.. on the other hand nice to see ep40 and hughes as always but rest need to get some well spoken words from coaches since our captain dont have it in him. MP stop take so many stupid penalties holy moly..
