New York Islanders Postgame Availability | NYI at DAL (11/18/25)

A lot happens obviously um you know uh we play that and you know we’re definitely not happy to see you know uh one of our best defenseman get hurt and we hope he’s you know we’re going to go get new now so uh hopefully he’s fine it’s dangerous I think we we all saw it from the ice I’m sure you guys had a different view and at the replays and stuff so you guys make your own statement on it And for us it’s, you know, one of our friend, one of our teammates and never fun. Does it uh I can hear the anger. I mean, you you win a tense game. Does that sort of override the win? I I don’t think so. I mean, you put yourself in my in my shoes. One of your friends gets hurt on the ice. It’s it’s way more important than than hockey to me. And uh obviously we get the two point where we’re were happy about that but that’s no I everyone just I think was our first concern was roaming and the rest you know took care of itself and it’s just so yeah we did a pretty good job of uh more pucks in more zone time and I thought throughout the game we got better in the neutral zone. We we didn’t allow them a whole lot of entries with uh possession. Um what you got to do against this team. Your first concern is probably just through 60 minutes. Yeah. Um hopefully it’s all right. He’s all right. Um wasn’t pretty from the bench for sure. Um, but no, I I thought we had a bit of a slow start first 10 minutes of the game and last 5 minutes I thought we we really came on and second and third I thought we did a pretty good job. Um, second especially we didn’t really give them much through the neutral zone much in the D zone. Um, and then in the third uh, you know, some special teams, big shorthanded goal. Um, just stay tried to stay composed and obviously ended up getting the job done. You mentioned special teams. How important was it to stay disciplined against? Yeah, we did a good job the first couple periods. Um, their power plays really good. I thought uh in the third we had a couple kills and we did a really good job in the neutrals on not really letting them get set up and then when they did we did a pretty good job and then couple really big saves by our goalie. Just such a a gutsy effort from your team fifth win on the road trip. Just when you look at the trip overall, what were the positives that’s been? Uh, yeah, we’ve been playing good. um you know, tough to come on this road swing and and collect that many wins. So, um obviously another good job here tonight and we got one more before we’re going home. So, uh get our rest tonight, tomorrow and be ready for Detroit. But, um so far we I feel like the team’s done really well on the playing on the road, playing simple, and just kind of grinding out wins. And for Cal Richie to see him get his first goal as an Islander, um what is that like for him? Yeah, it’s great. Um you know, he’s been doing some good things. uh you know for check in holding the puck down low and then tonight obviously a couple good plays by him and then by Dookie to get back to him and good finish game just take us through it. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. Uh crazy way to end the game, but I think as soon as the goal kind of went in, we kind of realized it’s it’s probably goalie interference. So, it’s good to get the win. I mean, good teams find a way to find a way to win. So, it’s a great effort. I thought all around all night that’s a good team over there. So, uh it’s good to get the win. You know, your first concern is probably Romano for the team, but just, you know, the the hectic style of of that gutsy win just overall. What’ you think of the Yeah, obviously uh Hope Rom is doing good and uh yeah, it was a that was a tough tough play there at the end and uh thankfully we ended up getting the win for him. So um yeah, I thought overall I thought it was a really good team game. Uh top to bottom Palms’s goal on the PK. Um unreal. So you just got to keep it going and finish the road trip strong. And you got your first goal as an Islander. Take us through it. Yeah. Um I thought it was a really good shift before um from from Bose line. uh they got a lot of zone time and then they changed in the ozone and we got out there and uh try to buzz around and try to create something and um got the puck from I think it was Pulley and then gave it across to Dookie and um he made a really nice pass to me. So glad I could finish that off and um yeah it was a great win for us. Just five really impressive wins for this team on the what’s been working overall and just you know what’s been working for us. Yeah, I think we’re just really buying into the way that we want to play and um our structure’s been really good and uh we’re playing good team hockey and uh we just got to keep that up and our PK’s been uh really good and um yeah, we just got to keep keep going. Pretty impressive career. Yes. Take us through those final. Um well, I’m going to start from the beginning. I mean um I thought we defend really well. I’m I’m so so happy the way the guys are playing in our own zone and the way we um uh the way we uh break out, the way we uh box out in front of the net, the way we did so many good things uh in our own zone and um proud of our guys. I mean, I think that um the fact that we played so well give oursel to stay in games and and um and when we did not, I mean, David made some really good saves and kept us in that game. So, give us enough time to get the lead and have a great solid third period level over Roman. Well, I mean, um I hope he’s going to be okay at this moment. I don’t know uh what’s exactly what it is, but um all I’m going to say is is when you’re you see the number, you have to lay off, you know, you everybody knows that. I mean, you don’t go through the guy. I mean, um you know, and and I’m proud the way that our guys handle it afterwards, you know. Um no one was no one was happy to see uh someone get hurt like this. and and and like I said, um to me is disrespectful for our guys. Is that Yeah. Is that sort of what you were saying to me as he skated? Yeah. Yeah. It was in Colorado when he was drafted there and it’s not his style. But I mean, at the same time, I mean, that’s that’s not that should not be part of our game. That should not be part of our game. And then what did you see? I mean the goal was reversed but thinking there you know as initially it was a good goal. Yeah it was they they they crashed the net and then the call was made goalie interference but um we we should have done a little bit better job. I mean uh protecting that puck in the corner and not give it a chance to get out of there. And I think our guys know that and and and but at the end of the day, it’s it’s um it’s a solid road trip and it’s a solid road game. Uh 5-1 in that stretch. I mean, no, if you would have said to me we won five games, I would say where I signed up on this and and I’m very impressed the way we’re playing. I feel our guys are are are playing like solid hockey right now. a good road game and and um very very smart good decisions with the puck and I thought it was a I thought it was a hard fought game but I thought we did played well enough to win. Is is Romanov still on site or did he have to go to Kimber is going to give you more details because I I was I don’t know the exact detail right now. What do you make of Richie’s effort tonight? Well, right now we’re pretty lucky. both goalenders are playing really well and he was outstanding in that first period against Utah. Gave us, you know, a chance to get our legs back and um and tonight it was the same thing. I mean, he showed some consistency. He knows his role and he knows what he has to do and he’s playing it perfectly. And for for Richie to get his first goal as an Islander is what he made of his efforts tonight, too. Um, you know what, more he’s playing, better he’s playing. And and today I I I felt like the last game in Colorado that line played really well and tonight again I mean it was nice to see him be rewarded. I mean I feel like he’s holding on more on pucks and he’s very smart defensively. Offensively I feel like he’s holding more on pucks and made some great plays and he’s got so much skills and talent. So, it’s it’s nice to

Hear from JG Pageau, Ryan Pulock, Cal Ritchie and Head Coach Patrick Roy after tonight’s win vs the Dallas Stars.

  1. What a pathetic last minute to a game. From a neutral fan the penalty call and game misconduct was fugging poor and amateuristic at best. And to then call for goalie interference made the NHL look like a bunch of morons. For the NYI coach to yell at the Stars bench is utterly disrespectful. They will see you again and just make sure you bring it cause it will not be pretty. They got your number now.
