  1. I for one would be open to a Peralta extension.
    I still don’t think he’s a true #1 but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t sign him.

  2. I want Woody and Peralta back, and trading some young arms and prospects for bats.

Woody, Peralta, Miz, Priester, and [one of several] make a top 5 rotation. The pen is already top 5. Add some SLG to the lineup, and this team can be significantly better in 2026.

  3. I suppose it’s going to depend on how the team looks at the end of July, right? If they’re competing the way they did in 2025, there’s exactly zero excuse for trading him before the end of the year. But if they’re in third place in the division and five games out of the last wild card, maybe that’s a different calculation.

I can’t imagine him on the team in 2026 unless he likes the clubhouse better than he likes money. Somebody is going to overpay for him just like somebody overpaid for Adames and for Burnes.

  4. If I had to guess this Woodruff extension is just like what the Cubs did with Shota, this gets these players to the potential lockout and allows them to play wherever they want without them being tied down to a team for however long it last. Then once the lockout is over they can sign there long term contracts wherever they go.
