  1. It’s a blast for the past for sure. They’re going through the cycle of Goff we’ve already experienced.

I check their sub from time to time to see we’re in the process they’re at.

I’m glad we have Stafford and don’t even have to worry about it anymore.

  2. Why are the lions complaining about Mike Goff from the San Diego Chargers offensive line?

  3. I loved Goff when he was with the Rams but he would go Full Goff in big games to often to make him trustworthy.

  4. On the other hand I can count on one hand and have fingers left over how many bad rams games stafford has had.

  5. Humans are largely reactionary and irrational beings who are often guided in thought and action by kneejerk emotion instead of objectivity and logic….breaking news at eleven!

(Pssst…all subs are this. Humans become primitive when feelings are involved. If something makes us feel ā€˜bad’, we lose all controlled thought process. Which leads to ridiculous displays of thought and emotion. See: any game thread ever.)

  6. Goff can win a Super Bowl. Just imagine if we had a healthy Gurley and Kupp in SB in 2019.

  7. This is more an issue with the new oc than it is for Goff.

Yes Goff has issues, every qb does. Goff himself is right on that edge of being MVP great and just good. It really depends on his team though. This current oc on the lions should take more blame.

  8. I have to give Goff credit, his floor has improved since the 2019-2020 season. That said, I’m not sure if the ceiling has. This year is going to be a real test of where exactly his ceiling is. I don’t think the Lions pull a trade like we do in the offseason but if they are one and done or miss the playoffs due to a muted offense, Goff may not be surpassing Stafford’s franchise numbers in Detroit.

  9. I was all for Goff over Wentz in the draft, and even in his first couple years I felt he had some promising characteristics, but his flaws are just too tough to manage.

Everyone talks about how when he has time, he’s a monster, but it’s just his personality is very risk averse. He doesn’t have an instinct on when to really push the team and stretch the defense. He’s got a solid arm, great accuracy, great toughness, it’s just when the chips are down, you can’t count on him to take a deep breath and carry the offense.

No ill will to him, he’s just the perfect example of it being really hard to win a Super Bowl with a ā€œpretty goodā€ QB. It can be done, but it’s a lot smoother if you have a great QB, and there are 5-6 of those in the NFL, and I don’t think Goff is one of them.

  10. I like Goff and wish him nothing but success but I feel like they’re starting to see what we saw in him. He has all the talent in the world but just isn’t that clutch when you really need him to be.

  11. I will eat my crow, when we traded for Stafford I was not a fan of the trade. I severely underestimated Stafford even if I was well aware of Goffs limitations.

Winning the SB outright was such a small chance I didn’t think it wise. We were making the divisional round consistently.

  12. I’ll never forget ~5 years ago when I said we’d never win with Goff and I got downvoted into oblivion. I don’t blame people for being delusional about an average QB on a great team

  13. He’s a good starter, but like most quarterbacks he has weaknesses in his game. He’s got a great arm, he’s accurate, and throws a nice deep ball. He doesn’t handle pressure well and doesn’t do a lot to manipulate a defense with his eyes. That doesn’t mean he’s horrible, but fans just expect their guy to be perfect at everything. He can’t make his line block or his receivers catch or his backs hit the hole properly.

He’s also objectively much worse than Stafford. Glad we won that trade

  14. We saw the eagles do the same shit in the SB against Mahomes. Yes Stafford is a better QB than Goff, but to act like this is some referendum against Goff as a player is silly.

Let’s not forget that Stafford got lucky with the dropped INT against the 49ers in the NFC championship game. Obviously it worked out in the end, but I suspect the reaction to the trade would be very different if the game was lost due to a bad int.

I don’t know why we have to act so defensively about the trade lol

  15. I liked the lions until they started to act like dicks… that’s all I have to say about that…

  16. Even if Goff doesn’t win a Super Bowl he still revived his career after being sent to die and that’s something. Lions fans should be happy they have a QB who wins games and keeps them relevant even if he won’t get them over the top.

  17. If we are talking head to head though, lions keep beating the rams. I’m thinking in December rams will beat the lions… but the switcharoo, although it came with a championship… lions have come out on top against the rams. Even trade. From POS to NFC favs (lions) and Super Bowl champions almost instantly (rams)
