Play some damn defense or just start tanking. Tired of it.
I know the actual shooting is very concerning for Shae, and we need quite literally anyone who can create shots off the bounce rather than having inconsistent spot-up shooting, but its really encouraging that he’s back to being an elite finisher and having amazing efficiency inside the arc.
On the other hand, Tou’s season is really concerning. I’m not sure if its because the coaching staff if trying to get him to expand his game and there’s too much going on in his brain at the moment, but his ability to attack closeouts this year has been, quite frankly, horrendous. On top of that he’s in an awful cold streak from three that isn’t aided by him taking 1-2 step-backs a game that don’t make sense, and the defense looks substantially worse than it did last year. If we can’t rely on Tou to be a PoA defender we have exactly 0 healthy defenders who can keep up with guards on the perimeter.
Hard to really assess a game with no guards to play, but Toumani is freaking me out. This is just regression at this point. We’d be better off with Kris starting in his place and I cannot believe I’m actually typing that out. Crazy stuff.
I’m really puzzled by the third quarter. We were keeping it close going into halftime, and it was pretty fun. Then we walked back out of the locker room and completely crapped the bed.
Do we have locker room issues or something?
I think something that wasn’t mentioned is the really horrible whistle Deni got last game, from watching his highlights I saw at least 3 obvious fouls that weren’t whistled, probably more if you include 50%-50% stuff, not sure what’s going on there.
