Is Your Team on Marcus Spears’ List of Legit AFC Super Bowl Contenders?? | The Rich Eisen Show

you’re a Parcel’s guy. Um he always said, you know, uh right around Thanksgiving is when you know whether you got it or not. We’re not there yet. We’re close. So I I want to run through some teams with you and you tell me if you think they’re Super Bowl worthy like that. I’m keep it short. I know that. I know that. And I Let’s start with the Patriots. Are they Super Got it. Got it. Yeah. Got it. I’m a I’m a I’m a I’m a huge fan of Mike Vrael. Um, I’ve been a huge fan of Mike Vrael. I still don’t understand what the Tennessee Titans were thinking uh with letting him walk out of the door, but you see the tone and you see how how much it has changed. And then two, they got seemingly have the most important position in football, right? And that’s the quarterback. And sometimes being young and dumb makes you a really dangerous team. And I don’t I don’t care if you know I don’t care if it’s uh a game in Foxboro or a game in uh Berlin or a game in Tottenham where you’ve been a bunch of times. Rich, they just going to go out and play and do whatever it takes to win. I think that’s Mike Vrabel’s mentality and he got a quarterback that don’t know no better other than just to go out there and make plays and ball. Yeah, Bellich had one as well in his second season in the National Football League and they won it all and didn’t know any better either. Um so, okay. Um, what about the Broncos? Very shaky on the Broncos, Rich. Offensively, I I worry about them. And that’s crazy to say with a Shawn Peyton team, but defensively this team is really, really good. And can they get hot? Yeah, we’ve seen them get hot and score 33 points in a quarter. So, yeah, but it’s been a little volatile on that offensive side. It’s been too many slow starts for me to to make them 100% a contender. If they can get hot and B Knicks can get streaky, a team that absolutely has a chance because that defense is phenomenal. But I worry about the Broncos offensively a lot. Eight and two Colts. Are they they they are a Super Bowl contender right now. They they Rich, can I just say this, brother, please? And I know you I’m scared of Daniel Jones. I haven’t loved what I haven’t seen what I’ve seen from him the past two weeks. Um, without Jonathan Taylor taking over these games, I’m not sure if he’s not going to be mistaken prone in some critical situations for me to pick them as Super Bowl contenders. I I just get I get very nervous. I’m starting to see the fumbles in the pocket, which is thing that plagued them in New York, the interceptions. Um, and it just looks shaky. And I hate saying this cuz the dude is having his best season that he’s had in the NFL. I worry about that though because we know majority of the time you’re not just going to be able to run your way to winning the Super Bowl as we saw with the Philadelphia Eagles and Saquon Barkley not being dominant and Jaylen Herz being the dominant factor in the Super Bowl last year. What about the Chargers 7 and three Marcus Spears Super Bowl contenders? I think they are contenders. I think getting healthy getting back healthy on defense obviously Khil Mack being back. Um and I I I just think Justin Herbert is supremely talented. I think this team from a physical standpoint, now I worry about this offensive line and I worry about that left tackle position for sure. Um, but I think they have a quarterback that can go beyond some of your faults. And now we got to see it and he hasn’t won a damn thing so far, but I think he’s he’s he’s around a really good head coach and Harbaugh who believes in him supremely. I think Greg Roman has done a phenomenal job. This defense is playing well under Jesse Mentor. I think the I think the Chargers are a legit problem. Um and and are true contenders. So then um let’s go with a trio of teams and you could say all three and none of them or pick and choose. Uh Bills, Ravens, Chiefs. All three. All three. All three. Name their quarterbacks, Rich. Um and and listen. Yes. Listen, man. I’m a believer and and if you Rich, you know me. I’m and and my counterparts know me. It it takes me a while to come around on quarterbacks um and and to to give them that type of credence, but are we would we be surprised if Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, or Pat Mahomes lost their mind for a three, four week span once they get into the playoffs? Nobody would be shocked. Um the only problem with them is they have to play each other. But Lamar Jackson in the playoffs, I know, hasn’t been great, but we know what he’s capable of. We’ve seen Josh Allen play to the highest level and still lose with 15 or 13 seconds on the clock. And I’m not going to waste my time talking about 15 in in in Kansas City. What about the Steelers to finish up the AFC? No. No pretenders. Pretenders. Uh, you know, I I defensively it’s been a very disappointing year on that side of the ball. I There’s a lot of dudes on that side of the ball that I love. Pat Queen, Cam Hayward, TJ Watt, and they would all tell you, “We haven’t played to our standard.” Jaylen back there, we’ve seen them play well. They had a couple weeks where they looked dominant, turned the football over against Indie a bunch of times and still only won the damn game by seven points. And it was the first time I saw Aaron look 40 last week. uh avoid and I said this about Tom Brady his last year in Tampa. When when when those fast big dudes start coming down the center of the pocket and you start secondg guessing if you going to stand in there and try to deliver one, that’s probably when it’s time for you to hang it up and go home. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. Colts fans acting like their head coach wasn’t the chargers OC lmao of course they would dominate a team they know everything about im willing to bet money it wouldn’t happen again

  2. Long long, time Chargers fan (probably shouldn't admit it)… We've suffered every kind of torture imaginable.. This Chargers team has no chance. Last years team i.e. the one that appeared in the playoffs, was better because we had Alt and Slater. No way this vastly inferior Oline holds up against the good defenses in the playoffs. That assumes Herbert is still upright by that time…

  3. As a charger fan I just don't think this year is the one with alt and slater out. If they can stay healthy majority next year with Hampton and a reliable rb2 I think we have a legit shot

  4. If Daniel Jones were on the Chargers and its worst-ever oline, the Chargers would be 0-8 and he would have the worst stats of his career.

  5. Thank you for putting some respect on our name Mr. Spears. Personally I can't see my Chargers going past the AFC Championship without Alt and Slayter, but a man can dream. BOLT UUUUUUUUUUUUP!!!

  6. As a Bronco fan, I wouldn't be upset to see the Chargers win a SB. When you're in the AFC west and the 3 other teams have 10 SB victories between them and Chargers have zero, it's time. (I seriously doubt it happens this year)

  7. Denver beat the SB champs, #1 offense and #1 defense but still shaky? Bo’s worse game came on a short week rivalry game with 20+ mile winds making throwing the ball crazy. Health, Penalties and Special Team play is what will ultimately be the difference between them in the SB or 1 and done.

  8. I legit don’t understand peoples thought on the colts and Jones. ITS THE #1 offense by far. Highest EPA in nfl history. Destroyed the chargers, but we are worried because falcons talented defense played well and pressured which they do with every team and the Steelers games played like that defense should. Jones is having a phenomenal season

  9. Daniel jones turned a 3rd and 21 and ran 19 yards and then had the cubes to throw to Warren on a 4th and 2. This fear and weirdness won’t age well. If Mahomes does, people just say, yeah that’s chiefs. Jones? Oh he is cracking. Please. Jones looks like Allen. He’s big, strong, and athletic.
Give me a break. Thumbs down.
