The Pelicans 2-12 on the year, 57-2 against the number, ending up with a 126 109 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, depending on where you got that line. That line was all over the place. I saw it as low as 14 and a half. It closed as high as 18 and a half or 19. You got the cover, maybe you didn’t, maybe you got pushed, who knows? Either way, the New Orleans Pelicans once again got their teeth kicked in. While the Denver Nuggets 10-3 straight up, nine-4 against the spread this season. and they’re coming off a 130 to 127 loss at home to the Chicago Bulls, their first loss this season. I’ll tell you, full transparency, I was on the Denver Nuggets in that game. And I was like, okay, you know what? Denver starting the game real well. And then I blink and all of a sudden the Chicago Bulls are up by double digits. And they just did not look back in that game. And I’ve said before, the Chicago Bulls are a team that I am high on. I like this young core that Chicago has, but they weren’t playing well going into that game. And I thought, you know what, going into Denver, where Denver’s been so tough this season. And over the last couple years, saying it on our morning show, the Denver Nuggets usually go stupid dummy crazy at home, they looked like stupid crazy dummies or crazy stupid dummies, depending on how you want to phrase it. But in that game when they were just getting, you know, pummeled by the the Chicago Bulls in that game. Now six and one at home. Now they got to head out on the road for a couple games, but at least for Denver, they get a favorable matchup in their first game of this two-game road trip. The New Orleans Pelicans, I’m sorry, but this Pelicans team just looks like an absolute pushover. You know, you’ve got Zion Williamson listed as questionable, but even if he plays, we’ve seen when Zion was not in the lineup for the Pelicans last year, and even at times this season, this team has been bad. when Zion’s been in the lineup for the Pelicans at times, they’ve still been bad because he doesn’t have the pieces around him to help him compete and help the Pelicans compete as a team. Now, maybe, just maybe, you see the Pelicans sort of get that, you know, that dead cap bounce, that new coach rub through the first few for through the first game or two as they did fire Willie Green. But for me, I still think that Denver is too good of a team to let that to let that, you know, come into play here. And much I like Zion Williamson, part of me feels like the New Orleans Pelicans, at what point do you prioritize Zion’s health? And I I understand that, you know, New Orleans has been trying to play the long game with his health, trying to make sure that they’re not doing too much, you know, because they’d rather have him in some way, shape, or form than to have him go too hard and not have him at all. But at a certain point, the rubber’s got to meet the road, and you have to have him in the lineup. The problem is that Zion can’t stay healthy. So, at what point do you start exploring other options? And I don’t know what that is for the New Orleans Pelicans, but until they decide that, they’re not going to be able to, you know, put themselves in a good position. The Denver Nuggets, yes, this is a Denver Nuggets team that has been less effective on the road compared to at home for the better part of the Nicole Joic era, but they’re still the far better team in this one. They’re still the far more complete team in this one. We’ll have to see how the injury report shapes out when it’s released. Hopefully, that’s something that we can update for you on Wednesday morning. But as of right now, I got to roll with the Nuggets here. There is nothing that the Pelicans have shown me to suggest that they are going to be able to hang with one of the NBA’s better teams. Even on even with them on the road, you know, Denver for the most part, I mean, look at their recent three-game road trip against Sacramento, the Clippers, and the Timberwolves. They want all those games by by double digits, and all those teams are miles ahead of where the New Orleans Pelicans even want to be.
