  1. Technically correct, but a fucking shame because it did not in anyway change the end result.

  2. The rule is so bad. You’re killing momentum and crowd engagement to see if someone got a half an inch head start, when you won’t review a high stick that cut a player if a ref didn’t see it.

  3. Toronto should only get 2 minutes to review the challenge. If it’s not obvious in 2 minutes, it stands and matches the 2-minute penalty for the challenge failing.

  4. The rule should be if the other team touches the puck first and you steal it the offsides is negated

  5. I’ve been saying for a while I think Danielson has a higher ceiling than we’ve thought. There have been a couple moments where I got vibes of “fuck it I’ll do it myself” with him, this being the latest.

I think this kid could be really special if he keeps developing like he has.

  6. As a Kraken fan I didn’t like this ruling. If you’re looking at millimeters for 5 minutes what’s the point? Such a gorgeous goal, shame to take it away.

  7. Crazy to expect players to realize this as they high speed skate. Took the refs about 5 minutes to come to a conclusion. I get while technically the right call was made but this is absolutely delusional thinking to expect a player to see this in real time. Furthermore the linesman called it good and then a ref called a good goal. What penalty do they receive for their actions? Again I realize it’s a technicality but Jesus.

Also how the hell did Lane even know to call this? Crazy. Hope Danielson gets another soon because you could tell he wasn’t impressed that his first NHL goal was a ricochet off himself.

Overall a great game to watch. Let’s go red wings!

  8. Technically correct by the current rules

But offsides being reviewable is just horrible. It always feels bad no matter what team it happens to.
