Dan Campbell Press Conference | Nov. 19, 2025

This team has been in a ton of these games, man. Um, and few of these games they’ve been up a couple of scores and, you know, lost a tight one there, uh, a few times. And so, they they’ve been in most of these games. Had a chance to win them. They’re competitive. They play hard. Uh, it’s a good unit. Um, you know, I know they made the change a week ago, but um, they had a chance last week again, you know, uh, in that game. So, you know, defensively, Big Dexter Lawrence, man, he’s got a lot of respect for him, the way he plays, big man. Uh, can cover ground, get edges, push the pocket, uh, shut down the run, good player, burns heat off the edge. Um, you know, I I think a lot of it starts with those two players and and then, you know, offensively, it’s pretty gritty. Uh, offensive line, they push on you. Uh, a lot of gap scheme downhill. Uh like Tracy, I think he’s good back. Uh he’s crafty man, stronger than he looks. Uh you know, very versatile. You know, Robinson, he’s another one, man. He’ll he’ll sneak up on you. Uh get open. Uh he’s explosive, you know, and then it’s really about the quarterback who plays. You know, Dart, young, promising talent. See if he plays. If not, then it’s Winston and know him. Um you know, played a lot of football here. um and big time arm uh can see it, can read it, and um you know, and he can hurt you. So, look, they got plenty of players. Uh they play hard, they’re competitive, and uh and that’s what we’re facing. Has it been it’s been years since you suited up there obviously, but as you go up against this team, obviously you played them since 22, but is it any sort of emotional connection at all by facing the organization where you learn so much as a player and yeah, I don’t know how much um I mean it’s always something that will be there, you know, because so many of those I think what really helps is, you know, obviously uh Mr. Mayor is still there. Um and and you know, he was there when I was there. I mean, that was, you know, and that MERA family will always mean something to me, you know, that’s that’s what the Giants are. Um, and but then there’s so many that are in that organization that were there when I was there. They’re still there, you know, and that um, you know, I had four good years there and it felt like a family and there’s really good people. So, that’ll always be there and I always think of them uh, in that way when it comes time to play them or you see them or or any of that. So, uh, in that regard, that that’s that’s cool to see them. But that’s about as far as it goes. What happened with with Dable? Did you have any emotions? I mean, I know you were tight with him and that’s part of the business, but just any emotions. No, I mean, it it’s, you know, it’s hard. I mean, it’s just part of the business, you know, and and uh it’s tough, you know, that’s it’s a tough deal, but that’s, you know, it’s it is what it is, and they get you move on. and those guys are are trying to, you know, get on to the next one just like we are. You mentioned last week that we’ve talked about, you know, must win games and such. After a loss like you had on Sunday, um, with the schedule getting shorter, you know, who you’re facing, some pretty good teams down the stretch here. Is there such a thing as almost a can’t lose game or must not lose game versus a camp? Um, no. I I I don’t look I don’t think any of that. I know this like and I I I hit the guys on this and it’s uh because I just want them especially more now than ever. Just worry about this one. Just you know I know we’ve got you know we’ll have whatever this is. Uh I know it’ll be two games in 10 days. It’ll be you know whatever three games and 17 days. I mean we’re going to get crunched here. And that’s beside the point. You know those teams are playing the same schedule we are. You know Green Bay coming on a short week. Dallas only 7 days later after that. So, what’s important is you just worry about what’s in front of you. Like, we got to get another win, you know, and we got to get back on our feet. We got to play better ball in all three units. Um, and so really that that is the focus. New York Giants, don’t worry about anything else. Don’t worry about what’s out there. Don’t worry about the NFC, NFC North. Don’t worry about the rankings or this that that doesn’t matter. We have to win. And so all our focus goes into winning and uh and understanding this opponent we’re getting ready to face period and put all your focus there and then we’ll attack the next challenge when it comes. But right now it’s got to be that. So the urgency doesn’t change. I mean when would the urgency change since right now you don’t control your own destiny. You got teams ahead of you. Does that just Well, here’s what I would say. We’ve had urgency. Yeah. I mean we’re we’re an urgent team. Things haven’t gone our way that we would like. I mean, we would love to be sitting here undefeated right now and and that’s not the reality. We’re not undefeated, right? So, um, but there’s an urgency that’s there. And I know this, if you say, “Well, let’s wrap up more urgency.” That’s when you start making mistakes. That’s when you start panicking. That’s when guys start doing things they shouldn’t do. They’re trying to make plays and and then they cost they cost us all. You know, that that’s where bad stuff really happens. So, cuz that means you don’t really believe in what you’re doing. You’re you’re grasping for straws. I know what we’re doing. I know what we need to do. We go back to work. We clean up the little things. All right. We adjust. We adapt. We move on. And let’s find a way to get a dub. Filled the uh interimm role, coaching role before uh with with Miami. I’m just curious like do you do you tend to see like a a bounce in energy or playing free when when a team goes through that? Do you do you anticipate like maybe a different level of energy from these guys this week? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think there was some fresh energy last week when you watched them against Green Bay, you know? Um, you know, I think it sometimes it’s just that that newness, you know, and uh you don’t know how long that that could possibly last or the rebound on it, but I think just the change itself, something a little bit different, a little new can spark you. Um, and so yeah, there was a little bit of that. I mean, look, they’ve always played hard. Like to me, you watch the tape. These guys have played hard in September, October, early November. Uh but yeah, there’s probably a little bit of that. Um you know, and there again, they had a chance to beat Green Bay and just couldn’t finish it out there. And I think it was a couple weeks ago you said you kind of shared the big picture with your team in terms of the NFC standings. So like this week you don’t or and just say Yeah, I just Well, that was that was postby. That was like, hey guys, it’s a Monday. We’re not even getting into the game plan of Minnesota yet. So, I just wanted them to see what it is. And by the way, that still stands. What I told them still stands. Totally stands. Like, nothing’s changed. It really hasn’t. It really hasn’t. You know, all of these things can still come down the wire. We’re talking about seven games. So, we’re good, man. And in the two games, you’ve called plays. How have you felt about the usage of David Montgomery? And uh when you reviewed the film against the Eagles, did you feel like maybe you went away from him in some situations? You could have used him in short yardage or how’d you feel about how you used them in the Eagles game, too? Uh well, I’d always like to get David more carries. Always. Injury related. Brian Branch was, you know, on the estimated report he was in no practice today. How big a concern is that? and carry on still in concussion protocol. Yeah, we we kind of had to list that because we’re doing a walk through today, you know, and then it’s kind of an estimation. Had we gone on the grass, would they practice? So, we’re kind of saying I don’t think so. I don’t, you know, we probably would have held them back. Uh, but I I feel okay. Like Branch, I think we’re going to be okay. Um, uh, Arnold’s still kind of dayto-day here, you know. Um, so we’ll see. But I feel good about Branch a lot better. Thank you so much. Miles Frasier has been back for a little bit now. Um said he expected him to look a little bit like a baby fall when he first got out there, but just how is he acclimating to the NFL speed despite missing so much already? Better. He’s gotten better every week. Yeah, he’s and really I guess last week was week two, I think. Um week and a half somewhere in there. He he um so yeah, he he he kind of he adjusts every week. It looks a little bit better. And I would anticipate over these next two days of uh tomorrow and Friday that he’s going to look even better. So like where he’s going. Um looks like he’s come back from the injury nicely and yeah it’s just about getting reps and learning and growing. Um but you know for for where he’s at very much like Mahogany last year you know we talked about it just trying to get him reps and at some point we feel like this guy can do something then maybe we give him a shot. You know if he’s not ready he’s not ready. That’s okay. You’ve uh you’ve talked a lot about identity this year. I mean, as as you’ve w watched the uh season play out, um I guess an argument can be made that the defense there’s more balance between the two units, defense and offense. And it if so, how much does it affect how you approach game strategy? Well, I love where our defense is at right now. I I I think these guys are I think they’re playing their tail off. Uh I think there’s there’s a lot of versatility there, man. I think we challenge in all aspects and all areas and uh man they’re really they’re they’re playing strong right now and I love that, you know, and so that’ll always give me faith um in the fact that they’re going to put out the fires and that’s what you want a defense that you know is going to put out the fires. So um so I love it. It’s great. You hopeful to get uh DJ You hope to get DJ back Sunday and and when he does return you got Terry back. I mean, Amique’s played so well inside of you. Are you liking the fact of of where your talent and depth is at at at quarterback, you know, down the stretch here? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. Cuz look, Rock’s played pretty good, too. Now, Rock’s played good. A Meek’s held his own out there. Done a great job. Both of those guys. And uh, you know, to that point, it’s it’s uh, look, those things don’t go unnoticed. I mean, we we know Meek’s been playing well, so you know, if we’re able to get Reed going this week, we want to get him in the game or we wouldn’t bring him, you know, and use him. and uh but but we foresee using all those guys. We’re not just going to go away from a meek. I mean, there’ll be a role for him uh one way or another. So, but yes, it’s a good place to be at is to start getting some of our guys back, get some depth back, good players back, you know, you are expecting DJ, you’re hopeful to get DJ back this week? I’m hopeful, you know, but I think a lot of it’s going to be it’ll be determined on tomorrow like these full speed practices uh tomorrow and then Friday. He looked pretty good last week and and so we’ll see. The Giants got from the the coaching change. What about when Jackson Dark came in? Just, you know, if he plays this week, what what does he provide? What does he add to? Well, he does give him a spark. I mean, the guy’s, you know, he’s uh he’s kind of an electric player, man. He’s he’s got some energy about him. He’s tough, you know, plays tough. Um, you know, he’s got the ability to run and he can kind of break some tackles and, uh, keeps his eyes downfield. He can make some pretty big throws. Um, so he he just kind of brings that um and that youthful energy, kind of a little bit of a spark um to him that, you know, that’s unique. You know, you can’t let it get on you. Um, but he’s he’s intriguing. You know, he’s he’s a promising talent. Heat. Heat. N. [Music]

  1. Dan whipped out the “we good” lmao yea we good this week on the crappy giants squad coming in. Dropped the ball man not making some trades at deadline to at least show us fans you’re serious about a run this year.

  2. Minimum 40 carries a game, pass protection needs help, no LaPorta, ARSB appears to have injured his hand, Goff making bad decisions under pressure. Just run the rock, I'd rather lose trying to run the ball and use our best strengths right now than to play an ugly ass game on offense.

  3. It's sports, such things happen in any game, one team has to win and the other go home. They're trying their best but the problem is that couch potato's who never play sports suddenly become specialist's and criticize the coach, QB. 😂😂😂

  4. These questions suck, ask about what adjustments were made regarding our OC to protect Goff. Why did we run up the middle countless times when we knew it was not working? Hold our team accountable

  5. poor dmo, a better way to ask that question is to ask what needs to happen for dmo to get more carries (necessity due to injury notwithstanding)

  6. I love our coach and I'm all in but give the play calling to someone you trust so you can be HC and lastly your guys know that theres no looking past this week opponent

  7. Compared to last year, this hasn’t been the same Dan; his approach and his energy has been off. I don’t get the same level of confidence from him that he once had. He seems defeated and he’s been repeating himself all season long.

Some may not choose to agree, some may be in denial, but this sucks man. Just go ahead and say the quiet part out loud at this point.
