GMFB | “Drake Maye will put an end to Justin Fields’ career” – Kyle Brandt on Patriots vs Jets
Buenas football fans indeed. Good morning football. It is for all you knuckleheads back in the continental United States. We are live here in Madrid. I’m Jamie Dall joined today as always but not in Los Angeles with him. Vance Io is joined by Seth Rollins, Mike Gerello, and Kyle Brandt hanging out in New York. However, I get the brag of all brags today. GMFB representing in Madrid ahead of the NFL’s first regular season game. Kyle, we have a heck of a show today. We really do. Jamie’s in a coma de paella and we will be continuing to talk to her all morning. But we got Seth, we got Manti, we got Mike, we got a game tonight with a very important MVP candidate playing quarterback. Let’s get into it. Good morning football. Let’s go. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by Old Trapper. [Applause] That’s right, GMFB on a special Thursday everybody. Jamie, Mantis, Seth, Mike G, Kyle, Loaded House, and also we are on vacation as a family. At least one of us is. Uh we are in Madrid, Spain ahead of the NFL’s first regular season game. Commanders Dolphins will be coming to you Sunday morning, 9:30 a.m. Eastern on NFL Network. But lots to talk about, guys, as I find myself in Plaza Mayor here in the middle of Madrid, Spain. It is the main square. It is the main shopping. It’s a little dead right now, to be honest, cuz it is downpouring rain. Uh, our intrepid crew here has provided us with a tent, which is why I don’t look dewy whatsoever. But, uh, Plaza Mayor is stunning. It has actually changed names three times since it was built in the 16th century. Kind of like the commanders have in their in their organizational history. So we are here. We are living it up. And Kyle, as you said, you said ko de paella more coma de sangria for me last night. But at least I’m trying to taste the culture. You know what I mean, Kyle? Hell yeah, I do. Let’s go, Jamie. Keep tasting it and we’ll talk football. One thing I want to show you guys in Plaza de Mayor before Plaza Mayor before we go is that uh the Spaniards decorate Christmas like I do guys because the Christmas tree is already up here in the middle of the plaza. So I am appreciative of the fact that at least if I ever moved here and retired and spent my life here, I can put up my tree like the Spaniards do on November 1st. Moving on, Kyle said to start the show, a Thursday night football game to look forward to with the Patriots and the Jets. And with more on potential injury information that we need, we welcome in our NFL Network insider Ian Rapaort with us this morning. Rap sheet. Who we looking at? Who we talking about? What do we need to know? I’ll take you from here. You go back on your Europe European vacation. Never been. I heard it’s lovely actually over there. All right, let’s start with the New York Jets and their star receiver Garrett Wilson. Reagravated that knee injury. Missed a couple games early in the season with it. Digs. Digs is fine. Kahan Booty, who has really come on at various times for the Patriots this year. A bounceback season, become one of the go-to weapons for Drake May. He is out with a hamstring injury. This happened early on about two weeks ago. Uh did not get to practice full this week, so he is not going to play tonight. Patriots a little short-handed at receiver and at running back Raandre Stevenson. Once again, he is officially out. He is dealing with a toe injury, not considered to be major, but he’s missed a couple games now. We’ll see when he’s able to get out on the field. Hopefully, this is the last game that he misses. Terrell Jennings, one of his sidekicks at running back. He is dealing with a knee injury, I’m told, is expected to go for the Patriots. All right, Rap Sheet, appreciate it. Uh, Thursday Night Football, as you said, a lot of eyeballs on the AFC East right now. A lot because while the Bills have had dominance in recent years, they’ve already lost to the Patriots earlier this season. And the Dolphins came up and bit the Bills on Sunday with an really surprising win. And the Dolphins now in a great mood here in Spain ahead of the game on Sunday. So we look at the AFC East, we look at the top of the pile, the Patriots tonight, Kyle, and the bottom of the pile unfortunately for the Jets. It’s Thursday night teams going in both directions, but you yourself said those three important letters as it pertains to this evening, and that is the MVP conversation surrounding Drake May. Is that what catches your eye ahead of this matchup? Yeah, this is the Drake May invitational. Tune in tonight on the Zan and watch Drake May. If you haven’t seen a ton of them, if you just kind of catch him on Red Zone, it’s been a while since they’ve been in prime time. The last time the New England Patriots were in prime time, they were beating the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo and it was more about Stefan Diggs returning there. And now Drake May, a month later, has played a month of allegedly MVP football, 72point fonts. And I just want to see it. I want everyone to see it. I don’t want to have a dud tonight from I want him to put on a show because he really does feel like he could be the next great quarterback. And as we go to one of the most electric men in sports entertainment, Seth Rollins. Seth, I have a wrestling comp for Drake May. I want to see how you feel about this one. And it’s an old one. I feel like Drake May is right now like young Sting. He’s like kind of a babyface, positive energy, doesn’t do a ton of screaming, but he’s still naturally athletic. Really easy to root for. I feel like, you know, he could evolve over the years. Sting stayed loyal to WCW. Drake may stay loyal to UNCC and bounce around. He has kind of Sting potential. What do you think of my comp? And what do you think of me? You know what? I like the comp. I do. I was actually going to liken him to a a young Randy Orton. And I say that because Oh, nice. There’s a ton of potential there, right? A ton of potential. And now you’re starting to see the actualization of that potential. But I think on a national level, you know, the Patriots are an interesting team. I think a lot of people kind of just thought, “Oh, this is Buffalo’s division going into the season, right? There’s no chance anybody competes. You know, maybe in Miami and McDaniel’s offense catches up, but at the end of the day, it was Josh Allen. It was the Bills. They were going to take the AFC East. And now you’re looking at, like you said, possible MVP candidate and secondyear quarterback Drake May. And this at this point in the season, we’re gonna get an opportunity to see is this team is he the real deal? Because if they go out and they lay a dud against the New York Jets who at this point are playing with house four, it’s not a good look for the New England Patriots. Not a good look for everybody saying star. That’s what I believe will happen and I want to see it. I need it. The NFL is ready for new young talent. This draft class is stacked full of it at the quarterback position. He’s in a huge market in Boston in the Northeast in a team that’s been wanting this since Brady left. I’m excited and I hope to see it. What do you think, Mike? How you feeling? You on my Are you on my wagon here? Are you feeling upset with the Jets? What do you think here? The wagon I’m on is that I agree with you that a lot of folks thought that this was going to be Buffalo’s division and New England wasn’t going to be a contender. And some of those folks were the NFL schedule makers. Good morning, Mike North. How are you, buddy? You got a hard job. I just love giving I and I see him in person and I give it to him in person, too, as well. But take a look at this. On May 15th, the schedule released 1:00, 1:00, 1:00, 1:00, 8:20 on a Sunday night, and they showed up and won in Buffalo. 1:00, 1:00, 1:00, 1:00, 1:00. Now, we get the prime time. We got another one in a couple of weeks against the Giants. We got some flex possibilities coming up here. New England Patriots, Mike Frabel, your time to shine. How about Trayvon Henderson? Your time to shine as well, my friend. Starting lineup. Trayvon, we need some help, man. The Outsiders, that’s my team name. The Outsiders needs to be rescued here. And you’re doing a heck of a job, at least at this point, making it happen. Let’s go. Well, that’s the thing about the Patriots, right, guys, is it doesn’t matter who’s really playing. I mean, Kanan Buddhy out, Kyle Williams has the rookie has a great touchdown last week. And then remind Stevenson’s out. I mean, Henderson has one of the best games that we’ve seen from a rookie in a long time from the running back position. But we’ve all been talking Patriots, so in GMFB fashion, I’m going to zigg when everybody zags and I’m going to go to the Jets. If the Jets have to win this game, this is what they have to do. They’ve demonstrated over the span of this season that they can win with their offense. They showed it against the against the Bengals. They can win with their defense. But you guys want to know something? The New York Jets special teams is very special. like that that spike there are there there have been plays that this special team unit has made that that that they’ve made that have had tremendous impact on the game. Now the problem is they haven’t been able to put it together for who’s playing against them no matter who’s playing with them cuz everybody was talking about after they they had that trade where Sauce Garner left and and Quinnon Williams left uh it’s done and then they go and they they win against the the Cleveland Browns last week via their special teams. They are finding ways to win. If they are able to find a a way to win against the New England Patriots, hats off to Aaron Glenn. Hats off to to Chris Banjo and the special teams coach because it’s going to be be a big test against New England Patriots. So, if they have to do if they are going to have the chance, they’re going to have to bring it all together. It’d be nuts if the Jets are on a three-game win streak, wouldn’t it? I mean, like this this is an incredible thing that would transpire if they go into Foxboro and win. I’m not holding my breath on this one. I I think the Patriots, it’s time for them to flex. And I don’t mean in the schedule. They may be doing that as well. Jamie, we flexed you over to Europe. Uh unfortunately, we we’re happy for you, but we’re sad that you’re there. We like you here with us. But tell us how more of how it’s going and then take the show wherever you want. Well, thank you. Just as incredible as that might be for the Jets, Kyle, I found that this unironic Dante Cole Pepper jersey to my right, I think he’s awesome. He’s awesome. Justin and Tom. These guys are Bears fans for their friends. Oh, now we’re doing Yep.

Why does Drake Maye have to keep proving himself. They been saying that shit for 4 weeks.
This guy is hilarious 😂 what test
Didn't realize Seth Rollins was such a great commentator.
Life great
I knew the EVIL EMPIRE was back when Henderson ran the first kick off back for a TD in pre season
Spain is hot and smells like a construction porta potty
So that is genuinely Seth Rollins😮
Switched off yet again, will NOT watch this programme if Rollins is on! As an International fan (Scottish) I am offended by the condescension of the NFL towards us. The game internationally is not really popular, (padded viewing figures) so you need every one of us!
NFL is more exciting when the Patriots are good.
I'm a Pats fan. But… any given Thursday. Who saw the Broncos barely beating Oakland last week even with a squirrelly Bo Nix? Weird things happen on Thursday night. Crossing my fingers that the Pats dominate.
Drake glows blue in the presence of orcs
Lovely Man bun sure so cute
The pats an usually easy schedule
There is no way Verbal is going to lose to a division rival. He'll look at every film that is out there on the Jets. Especially the win over Buffalo. They don't have that much of a Repertoire of plays that they can surprise us with. 31 to 10. Pats WIN.
