Brave Sign Raisel Iglesias, Trade for Mauricio Dubon

The Atlanta Braves make a series of moves here on Wednesday night, finding their closer at Riceel Glacius on a one-year $16 million deal and perhaps finding their newest shortstop and Mauricio Duban in a trade with the Astros. Jake Mastiani here from Locked on Braves in typical AA fashion when he makes an offseason move. He makes them in a flurry and not surprising to see Rice Glacius coming back once again to the Atlanta Braves. Maybe a little bit surprising to see the price tag. It is just one year, but at 16 million, same as he was baking with the Braves the last three years. And I just figure that means he’s going to be the closer for the Atlanta Braves. Now, in an interesting swap, the Braves send Nick Allen to Houston for Mauricio Dubon, a utility player, another good defender, slightly better hitter than Nick Allen. Is this the actual answer at shortstop? We’ll have to see how the rest of the offseason plays out, but perhaps at the very least an upgrade in the Braves utility spot on the bench.

The Atlanta Braves made a couple of moves in re-signing closer Raisel Iglesias and trading for utility player Mauricio Dubon.

  1. Great to see iggy back he deserves the money he got. For dubon, its an upgrade but this could mean 2 maybe 3 things: 1. they wanna use him for the bench as the utility player for any injuries, and still get ha seong kim to start. 2. They wont get kim, but use that money for a big bat or starter. 3. This was the best shortstop they could afford.

  2. Dubon ok hopefully not our everyday shortstop but definitely worth having on the team can play everywhere but pitcher and catcher. Rafael 16 million what a joke I was looking at his stats not sure how many home runs he gave up but I think it was 55 hits and 26 runs 6 losses in 68 innings era 3.25 those are not great numbers for a closer.
