  1. >“And Vrabes told me that off the jump, like I just wasn’t on top of everything, my weight and everything, and just overall learning how to be a professional. And just with that time period they gave me, I learned a whole bunch and just was able to grow on the overall aspect of how I’m coming along with the process.”

Good to get some clarity on why he was cut. It’s hard sometimes to remember these guys are barely adults and can do a lot of maturing in a year or two, especially when their career is on the line. Here’s hoping he can show out and earn a permanent spot on the roster.

  2. >“Honestly, it just feels like all the work that I put in is paying off,” Swinson said. “I had a minor setback at the beginning. Just had to grow up as a player, as a person, and appreciate Vrabes and the whole coaching staff and even (Eliot) Wolf just taking a chance on me and giving me a chance to show that you can turn things around. It just means a lot to me that I got rewarded with this and, you know, it don’t stop here.”

Work hard, pay attention to the coaches, and study film. You’ll be awarded, Congrats Bradyn Swinson.

  3. I was pretty high on him after watching his tape against Ole Miss. Hope he get into the pass rush rotation

  4. Wonder what the minor setback he mentioned was. Missed meetings? Injury? Conditioning? Whatever it is, pumped at his mindset. Great culture for

  5. The same reporter (Mark Daniels) just posted a very similar story about tight end CJ Dippre, who was just promoted to the 53-man:

Hmm, I know that teams are allowed to protect a few players on the practice squad from poaching, but the protection has to be renewed each week. For example, the Browns might be protecting Bailey Zappe.

  6. If we’re being honest, given the roster (and lack of talent) ahead of him on both teams he had a better chance to start here and “make something of himself”. Versus a heavily unknown, and a likely rotational piece at very best that may not be on the roster at season’s end. The Bills window is now, and they’re looking at even “minor upgrades”.

Nonetheless, he now has a spot. Whether he keeps it is up to him, but this is why he stayed. The opportunity ahead of him was more available to him here.

And if all things are equal, would you rather live in Buffalo or Boston. Not even saying he’s “drinking the Kool-Aid and buying in to the culture” being built here.

….There’s likely several things at play here, and he’s betting on himself.

  7. JFC I’m expecting Vrable to cure cancer in the next year at this pace lol.

Seriously great story, and man what a freaking coach Vrabes is, seriously off the charts good.

  8. Crazy how we went from the gold standard to a total dumpster fire back to the gold standard in the span of 4-5 years.
