Adam Ottavino does a nice opinion piece on what the Mets should/could do (He loves Steve Cohen apparently). While also having some heated/fair criticisms for bullpen injuries in 2025. You can tell he does care though about what happens to us which is cool to see.

  1. The Mets section is from 1:05:00 to 1:52:56.

He loves Cohen for the same reason I’ve heard him criticize the Brewers org: he likes owners who spend on their team. I can’t think of a player who wouldn’t like that. He also praised Cohen for not meddling with his GM too much, just providing the funding and letting him work.

I watched the stream this morning. The most interesting bit was his frustration with the Mets bullpen injuries. He is clearly pissed off about the amount of guys getting TJ. He says the org is bad at keeping these guys healthy and that Mendy doesn’t know what he’s doing on that front. He even said something along the lines of “this wouldn’t have happened on my watch because last year I was standing up for these guys.”Definitely the most heated Mets criticism I’ve seen from him. This is from 1:31:01 to 1:34:08.

The other bit that interested me the most was him talking about Nimmo and how he may have reacted to the trade rumors. He said Nimmo is a great guy but a proud player. He gave a funny/interesting anecdote where Brandon got mad at Andy Martino for putting Verdugo in LF instead of him on his hypothetical merged NY team. AO thinks Nimmo probably wants to be a Met for life and that he would want to stay unless he feels super disrespected. He said Stearns isn’t the greatest communicator in these scenarios and that the conversation could get testy. This is from 1:49:22 to 1:50:49.

    Other notable Mets bits:
    – He loves Alvy and has high praise for him and his work ethic.
    – He loves McLean and has since his first video on him. Everyone should watch those, they’re great.
    – He doesn’t love the Mets trading Senga because he’s got such good stuff, but he understands why they’ve grown tired of his inability to compete when he feels mechanically off.
    – Some good insight on Manaea + the loose bodies in his elbow.

  2. Do we blame mendy or our pitching coach for letting these pitchers get injured? I swear no one knows how to run the bullpen. Its been like this for years in the mets organization.

Love Adam ottavino. Hes dead on, on some of these takes. You can tell hes going to be a coach one day. I love his growing youtube channel

  3. His indictment of Mendy was profound and troublesome. But not sure why he buries Mendy and no one else.
