NATE THE GREAT – RED WINGS LEAD THE ATLANTIC! – Winged Wheel Podcast – Nov. 19th, 2025
NATE THE GREAT HAS ARRIVED IN HOCKEYTOWN.
Tune in as we open by discussing the Detroit Red Wings and Nate Danielson taking down the Seattle Kraken, including Lucas Raymond staying hot, Nate Danielson’s 1st (and almost 2nd) career goal, assist, and how Axel Sandin-Pellikka & Emmitt Finnie contributed to his big game, Moritz Seider, Simon Edvinsson, Cam Talbot, and the rest of the Red Wings playing great games, & more as Todd McLellan’s squad rolls on and takes the lead in the Atlantic Division. After that, a look at the point paces of Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and Alex DeBrincat (Team USA hopeful?), and whether they can reach new heights in Hockeytown this season.
Next, a look at how tight the Eastern Conference playoff race is compared to the West in the NHL, as the Red Wings eye a divisional seed over teams like the Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, & other previous top teams.
We then discuss Hockeytown pipeline prospects: Sebastian Cossa returning to the Grand Rapids Griffins while Carter Mazur is out long term, Trey Augustine dominating with Michigan State as the Spartans truck through the NCAA, Brent Solomon signing with Wisconsin, & more.
After that, NHL news including Adrian Kempe’s contract & what it means for Steve Yzerman’s free agency options (and how Yzerman will need to be more aggressive with trades), MacKinnon, Crosby, Celebrini, & Bedard leading the league, Copp, Compher, Talbot, & Gibson being linked in trade theories, and Patrick Roy blowing up on Mikko Rantanen.
All of that & lots more before we take your questions and comments in our Overtime segment ā enjoy!

First
20 games in and we are number one in the Atlantic
We need to put the lines back
All of the east is so close to each other in points…it is a new world daily. The wings are fun to watch and on the rise.
He was offsides. Suck it up, boys. š
Were you guys celebrating first place? I see a bottle of rye is missing.
I for one am happy to see ASP is running 1st team PP. I've noticed egregious mistakes by Seider so far in 20 games that lead me to believe he needs to work on lowering his anxiety in moments of mistake. He needs to work on his skating and work on his mental game to up his game. He has room to further slow the game down IMHO.
I cant believe we still fear of jinxing things in the 21 century.
Talking about the top 3's offensive output being sustainable over 82.
As of last Thursday the wings were 25th in goals scored but 3rd in expected goals for.
Theyve since played 3 more games so I'm sure those numbers have slightly changed, but the point is they have been extremely unlucky.
The law of averages says that will balance out over the course of 82 games. I expect the offense to tick up as these 2 stats balance out.
Couple the unlucky offense, with the underwhelming play of Gibson and the likelihood both regress to the mean, and this team has reasonable room to be an even stronger team.
Iām loving the warm cozy vibes of the studio šš¼
Playoff solution is Dmtri and Kane
Kane has history or developing fast right handed shots especially Russian
Panarian/Kane won cup and hart
Is there anyway to get him?
Give the refs 60 seconds. If they can't figure out if it should be overturned in 60 seconds, call stands. That was infuriating. At this point, dealing with a Duchene goal from time to time is a better solution.
On board with signing nick schmaltz
Filip Forsberg worth the cost?
If E.Petey is cheap do we do it?
(and they take Compher)
Guys. It was off sides. Fxxx it.
I agree it should be no more than 30 seconds. . On a side note the NHL now knows how good Nate's hands are. Is idol Patrick Kane sk
Iām bringing all Nick Schmaltz hate. Please God No.
A rookie we're not talking about yet is solder bloom.. he's going to be an elite defenseman scorer . Kasper looks like he's going to lose is position to Carter mazur when he gets healthy.
Trey Augustine has decided to forgo his senior season at Michigan State which will make him at the end of that year an unrestricted free agent. So he may never be in net for the Red wings.
