🚨Bengals Just Got MAJOR BREAKING NEWS Ahead Of Their Matchup vs. Patriots Ft. Joe Burrow

[Music] What’s going on, Bengals fans? Chris Dotry back with you guys here on Bengals Breakdown. And man, do we have a loaded show prepared for you guys today. We’re going to preview a little bit of that Patriots game coming up this weekend. Major injury news, including on Joe Burrow. Couple guys all way or also their practice window opening up here for the Bengals. And also Jeremy Fowler had an update about Zack Taylor and what his future might look like here with this Bengals franchise. We’re going to get to all of that here on today’s show. And like I said, it is a jam-packed show, so I need a little bit of help from you guys here. Make sure you share today’s video. I know there’s going to be a lot to talk about and, you know, there’s a lot of people out there that can’t necessarily uh, you know, follow all the tweets and all the updates like we do here at Bengals Breakdown. So, help me out. spread the word whether that’s on social media, Facebook, Instagram, text it to a friend, whatever. Ton of news to discuss here on today’s show to help me out and share today’s video. All right, this was the update the other day from Tom Policero. We’ll start off here on the Joe Burrow injury front saying Joe Burrow did seven on seven in practice last week. Felt pretty good about it. Um, but we’re going to see what is going to happen in terms of uh, you know, just going forward on that and doing some more 11on11 work. Zack Taylor of course also saying he is in the mindset that you know he wants to play for this team. Zack Taylor then saying today before practice, Joe Burrow hasn’t practiced 11 on 111 yet. So, like I said the other day, until we get through some practices, there is no reason for me to even speculate on that. Well, Joe Burrow did actually end up being a full participant in Bengals practice today. And with Joe Flacco, uh, you know, not throwing here normally on Wednesdays. He didn’t throw again today. Joe Burrow was actually to be was actually able to, you know, have his pretty much full a lotment of reps here. So, they’re just going to continue to work him in and, you know, see if, you know, how that foot feels, how that toe feels. And um look, I I’ll be completely honest with you guys. I don’t really know how I feel about it. You know, does Joe Burrow make this team better? Yeah, absolutely. At least on a consistency front. He definitely makes the offense a little bit better. And I think just having your leader, your franchise quarterback out there definitely helps. I think just a full vibe of the team, not necessarily uh you know uh about the defense. The defense just is not great. So whether or not that’s going to help on that front, probably not. Um, but I I do think it is positive that, you know, Joe Burrow is at least getting better here and a little bit healthier. And Zack Taylor did leave the door open. Uh, didn’t totally close it whether or not he would actually play against the Patriots this weekend. So, we will come back to some of that Joe Burrow stuff here at the end of today’s show. But first, I want you guys to get down to the comment section down at the pinned comment of today’s video. Will Joe Burrow play versus the Patriots this weekend? Let me know what you guys think. Like I said, it’s the pin comment of today’s show. Type Y for yes or N for no. Will Joe Burrow play versus the Patriots this weekend. All right. Like I said, we do play the Patriots this weekend. It is at home, but that doesn’t really make me feel any better about where this Bengals team is right now. The defense is just absolutely awful. The Patriots are a eight and a half point favorite for this game this weekend, which uh you know really doesn’t surprise me. But man, that’s a pretty big spread when you talk about the NFL. Um Bengals defense is on pace to have the worst scoring defense, the worst rushing defense, the worst passing defense in the NFL. And if I’m not mistaken, I don’t believe that’s ever happened in NFL history here before. Uh the Patriots on the other hand, nine and two right now. Number seven scoring offense and the number seven scoring defense. So this is going to be a real challenge for this Bengals team if there is any hope for them to get into the playoffs. It definitely starts this week considering uh you know you ended up losing versus the Steelers last week. And look, does Joe Burrow if he does end up playing help you a little bit in this game? Maybe. I don’t know. But uh you know Mike Vrabel, he’s got a lot of buzz to be coach of the year. Drake May has had a lot of buzz to be, you know, he’s had a lot of calls to be MVP. I believe he’s the betting favorite right now. So, I don’t know. I don’t really have a lot of confidence, just like I’m sure a lot of you guys don’t probably have a whole lot of confidence in this Bengals team right now. Which brings me to this question right here. Do you even want to beat the Patriots this weekend? Or do you want to tank and just get a higher draft pick? Uh, let me know what you guys think. Do you want to beat the Patriots this weekend? Type W if you want to win the game or type T if you just want the Bengals to tank. All right, so the Patriots are 9 and2 this season and man have they been on a run the past eight games. They’re on an eightgame win streak. Uh it’s kind of funny. They started off the season ended up actually losing to the um uh you know to the Raiders. But man, I I will say this too, hasn’t necessarily been the hardest schedule over the last eight games here for the Patriots. Uh really the Bills is a pretty good win for him. I think the Bucks are a pretty good win for him. Outside of that, not playing the best competition. Now, you can add the Bengals into that same category as well. Like I said, Drake May has had a lot of MVP buzz around him right now. Uh man, this kid’s playing at a really, really high level right now, completing over 70% of his passes. Doing a really good job in that touchdown to interception turnover ratio and it really does help as well uh when you have the weapons on offense that Drake May is able to get the ball to. And Trayvon Henderson, by the way, started off the season a little bit slow. You know, they weren’t really getting him really involved. A lot of it was Raandadre uh Stevenson on that front, but really you look at the past couple of games here for Trayvon Henderson. Man, against the uh against the Buccaneers, this kid absolutely went off. Is a real big threat in the pass game as well. 26 receptions for him for over 160 yards this year and a touchdown there. And uh he’s not the only threat by the way on this Patriots offense. Uh they have Stfan Diggs, one of the better uh you know, wide receivers in the National Football League. He is their leading receiver this year. Hunter Henry, I I just know he’s going to uh create some problems here for this Patriots team, for this Patriots uh you know, linebacker core. They just have not been good at all in terms of covering uh you know, some of those, you know, whether it’s running backs or tight ends coming out of the back field here, man. So, uh, we’ll see if they can, um, you know, muster up any type of, you know, uh, you know, ability to, you know, miss tackles have been an issue for this Patriots team this year. I don’t really foreseeing it getting any better here down the line. All right, we’ll come back to some more injury news here in just a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. The hard-hitting football action is even better with prize picks. And the weather might be changing, but the feeling of being right never gets old. So, keep the season rolling on Prize Picks by getting $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5 lineup. Prize Picks, by the way, the only app that offers stacks, meaning that you can pick the same same player up to three times in the same lineup. And this right here is a very, very good example of what stacks look like. You see Nico Collins right there going with the more than on receiving yards for him, but also going with the more than on rush plus receiving touchdowns for him as well. So, it’s not one or the other. Pretty much an anytime touchdown is what it comes out to be there for Nico Collins. This is the Thursday night slate of games between the Texans and the Bills. So, we’re going to go with the less than on Josh Allen. 225 and a half passing yards, more than on Nick Chub rushing yards. And also going to get Will Anderson. It’s 0.2. 25 sacks. Going with a more than there just uh needs at least a half a sack in this game. So download the prize picks app today and use promo code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s promo code CLNS to get $50 in lineups when you play your first $5 lineup. That link’s down in the comments section and the description of today’s video. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. Now, before we get into some of that really big injury news, some guys returning off of IR here, I just want to talk a little bit about um about this Patriots defense. They are really, really good as well, and they’re getting even better. Number five in the league in scoring uh defense here, number one allowing yards per game, only 84 yards per game. We’ll see if Chase Brown can continue a little bit of that good play for him. He’s kind of had uh you know some better games here the past couple of games in a row especially since they were able to bring Joe Flacco in. Kind of opened up the offense a little bit there. Now they are susceptible to being able to uh you know give up some passing yards here but also really good on third down. So, as we’ll talk about here in just a second, why, you know, in terms of if there’s one thing that the Patriots aren’t necessarily the best at kind of league average right now in terms of that passing attack, um, still going into this game, don’t have the most confidence in this Bengals offense this week. Some of the injuries now for the Bengals here, like I said, Joe Burrow was a full participant in practice today. Germaine Burton, he was a full participant. Still kind of with that illness right now. Don’t really know uh if he’s sick or maybe if he’s, you know, hung over or something like that. So, I don’t really know what’s going on with Germaine Burton. He’s been sick for uh three weeks now. So, I don’t really know what’s going on there. Joe Flacco again limited in practice today on Wednesday. Uh I would assume as the week goes on, I’m sure he’s going to uh you know, continue throwing and be limited again and then probably full by the end of the week here. Samaj Perin did not practice again today dealing with that ankle. Jaylen Rivers uh did not practice with that ankle injury again this week. So, we’ll see kind of how you know that right guard situation kind of rolls out here for the Bengals. And Mike Gaseki, by the way, was a full participant in practice today. His 21day window was opened up. Same thing as well with safety Dejan Anthony. He was a full participant. Uh really it’s been a while since we’ve seen Dejon Anthony. I think it’s been since uh you know late August there uh you know he was on IR. So both Mike Gaseki and Dejon Anthony both uh their practice their 21day practice windows have opened up. Trey Hendrickson unfortunately you know Zack Taylor continues to say he’s probably doubtful for this game this weekend. Said Johnson limited with an ankle. Joseph Osai was a full go in today’s practice. Cam Sample again with that oblique injury, did not practice. And then Cam Taylor Britt, uh there is a real chance that his season might have come to an end with that Liz Frank injury. It is a foot injury. Uh Zack Taylor the other day saying surgery might be likely for him. So, uh if that does end up happening, I would assume his season is probably over. and the one that we all know, Jamar Chase is going to be suspended for this game. Did end up um you know trying to get that suspension overturned there, but uh just as we suspected, the suspension did not get overturned. So uh that is not going to be a good thing at all for this Bengals offense going up against a very very good Patriots defense with or without Joe Burrow in the lineup this weekend. So I want to hear from you guys down inside the comments section. And it’s been a while since we’ve seen Trey Hendrickson, since halftime of that Jets game a couple of weeks ago. Uh, and it’s been since week two since we have seen Joe Burrow. So, I want to hear from you guys down inside the comment section. Who returns first? Type JB for Joe Burrow or type Th for Trey Hendrickson. All right, back to that Jeremy Fowler update that we talked about at the beginning of today’s show and kind of why this Joe Burrow, you know, returning to practice is really a big deal. Jeremy Fowler kind of put out a uh, you know, update on uh, you know, both Joe Burrow and, you know, Zack Taylor’s job security. And I kind of think this is why we are seeing Joe Burrow, I don’t want to say being rushed back, but might end up being a little bit rushed back here. I don’t know. uh you know that uh Thanksgiving game is really when you know was the expected timeline for Joe Burrow to return here. But this is what Jeremy Fowler said about both Zack Taylor and Joe Burrow saying Burrow produces at an elite level when healthy, but has also missed significant portions of three different seasons since 2020. So returning to play, even if the playoffs are out of reach, could help build confidence and momentum for both the player and the team. Maybe the Bengals opt to save him for 2026, but I could see him play this season. With Cincinnati in danger of a third consecutive season without a playoff birth, coach Zack Taylor would welcome Joe Burrow’s return. After all, the Bengals organization could be taking a hard look at, you know, the operation in the in the off season as a hopeful season turns sour. With owner Mike Brown turning 90 years old in August, expect executive vice president Katie Blackburn to play a pivotal role in the direction of this Bengals franchise. Now, um when it when it comes to that, it really still just doesn’t give me a whole lot of hope here. Um, you know, Katie Blackburn has been in the picture, you know, for a while now. She has been a part of operation. So, you know, just because, you know, she might be the one to take over doesn’t necessarily give me any more uh, you know, hope that this Bengals franchise can really, you know, just change the way they do things. Now, I will say this too, try to play a little bit devil’s advocate here for Katie. Maybe she has, you know, ideas and things like that that, you know, she pitches and they ends up getting, you know, turned down or something like that. So maybe that could be the case there. But, you know, it really does worry me that maybe they are rushing Joe Burrow back from this injury a little bit to try to save Z save Zack Taylor’s job. And you know, if Katie Blackburn is the one that, you know, comes down and is going to make any kind of decision on whether or not they’re going to bring Zack Taylor back for next season, I think she should also make an executive decision here on Joe Burrow. I know people don’t really like ownership tampering with, you know, actual things happening on the field here, but man, if it were up to me, I don’t really want to see Joe Burrow come back this season. I would much rather uh you know them rest him for the rest of the season, let him get 100% healthy by that 2026 season. Um because at the end of the day, Joe Burrow might just end up lucking the Bengals into a couple more wins here at the end of the season. And you know, you would get a lower draft pick if that ended up happening. And man, I I am just kind of in the camp right now of rest Joe Burrow and, you know, try to tank to get a higher draft pick and end up moving on here from Zack Taylor. [Music]

  1. They better hope he doesn't get hurt. In my opinion rushing him back to play for the team with the worst defense in the NFL in what is a lost season is insane.

  2. @ this point who cares if they win or not we gotta be up by at least 36 by half time to secure a win & the defense will somehow find a way to even mess that up 🤷🏾

  3. Play Tinsley he shoulda been playing 🤷🏾 & let the cards fall where they may at this point but don’t play Joe for the rest of the season no risk of losing 👍🏾him for the whole next season. fire Zach fire duke fire Katie but guaranteed even if they tank they f$ck up the draft prob draft a kicker first round sounds like them all the way 😂

  4. Why would you ever tank with so many good players? Tanking is for the scrubby franchises, maybe thats what the Bengals are? This seems like a winnable game if they want it.

  5. I wouldn't rush him into playing. When he does come back, the Bengals better had get that lack of rushing the ball straightened out or he'll be getting TARGETED again. A new injury would otherwise be EXPECTED. They have got to run the ball 30 times or more or you'll be seeing 7 ,8 or 9 guys coming every play for 5 guys to try to block and that, as we've all seen, can't even come close to happening and Burrow's good, but he can't escape that kind of heat.

  6. Joe Burrow needs to sit the rest of the year. We do not have good enough protection and I would hate for him to get hurt yet again. Our defense is pathetic. The season is over and we need to protect what is left
