Miami Heat Rumors: Lauri Markkanen The PERFECT Heat Trade Target?
[Music] Is this man right here, Lori Marketing, the big move for the Miami Heat? Is this the star player that the Heat fans in Heat front office should be targeting this NBA trade deadline? We’ve been looking for that guy to add to this roster to take us over the top and back to contention inside the NBA. With Miami exceeding expectations early this season, maybe they do go all in at the trade deadline and maybe it’s for the Jazz forward, Lori Marketin. He’s been going absolutely nuclear. And we’ve talked a lot about Marketing being a trade target for the Miami Heat over the past couple of years. Two years ago, we talked about adding him. We talked about adding them. this off seasonason. Now, just a year and a half ago, he got a massive contract extension with the Utah Jazz, which made him practically untradable for a year, and he really struggled in his first season under that big contract one year ago. But that is not the case in 2025. It’s only been 13 games, but as of filming this, he’s averaging 30 points per game, six boards, while shooting a tantalizing 48% from the field and 39% from three. I mean, the guy has been lights out in every stretch of the way offensively this season. And we talked about this, I think a month ago when Zack Low reported on his podcast, reported might be a strong word, might as well just said and speculated that he can’t imagine a scenario where Lori Marketin is on the Jazz in a year, which makes you think, is Lori Marketin potentially available for the Heat at the deadline? Now, I’ll mention this again. This was said by Zack Low at the beginning of the year. Now, we have seen some rumblings out there that would make it seem that the Jazz are not interested in trading Lorie Market in because of how well he has played and how well he has looked early this season. But if you’re Utah, you also have to come to realization. Market is playing at elite level, his trade value might never be higher than it is right now. And if they view him as a guy that might not be able to help them win a championship in the next five, six years, why wouldn’t you want to sell marketing at his highest value and recoup a bunch of draft picks which could ultimately allow you to build a better roster because that team is still pretty far away. And if a trade or any rumors ever come out, we will have you covered over on Twitter. Go give me a follow. 69 nice followers away from 2600. Go follow me at nick_rolllock. But I do believe Lori Marketin may be the perfect fit. And I’ve actually talked about this in the past. A couple years ago, I was very much in on trading for Lori Marketin. Last off season, I really wasn’t that in. But before we got that big contract extension, I was pounding the table for trading for Lori. I really was skeptical this past year because I thought after getting that contract extension and the declined play a year ago that maybe he isn’t that guy and he just got paid and kind of checked out. but certainly hasn’t been the case this season as I mentioned. And when you look at some of his advanced splits, we’re really going to go into detail why I think he’s a perfect fit for this Heat team. But it all starts with the offensive end. He shoots quite a bit in the league. I mean, he shoots a lot. Let’s be honest. He’s a volume scorer right now for the Jazz, but he’s also been efficient. 8.7 of his field goal attempts comes within 10 feet of the rim. The other 8.8 8 field goal attempts comes from catch and shoot threes. That level of volume on one specific metric is insane. But he’s shooting 41.2% on catch and shoot threes and 61.9% inside 10 ft, which makes him ideally the perfect analytical offensive player because it’s either coming around the rim or it’s coming from beyond the ark where he is efficient at both stretches. And I mean, look at this efficiency chart. As of November 16th, 2025, you have the effective field goal percentage and catch and shoot field goal percentage from good on the right to bat on the left and then volume from bottom to top. He is in a tier of his own. The elite snipers in terms of unbelievable field goal percentage off the catch with a ton of field goal attempts. There is really no other player close to him. And then you have obviously the players that have a high field goal percentage in these scenarios, but not many attempts. And if you actually squint your eyes, you could see Bam and Abio in there under the selective snipers group. Can’t believe Bam’s made it to there. But I want to use this meme from Wolf Wall Street to perfectly encapsulate my feeling with Lori Marketing the fist. I would be foaming at the mouth thinking about Lori Market and joining this Heat offense because what does Miami’s new offensive scheme pride themselves on playing quick, playing in transition, and ultimately getting a lot of motion and set. What happens with Miami’s offense? They usually try to advance the ball and attack the rim, collapse the defense, and then build off of that. You drive left, you have someone either cut baseline or cut from the right wing to get there, ultimately calaps the defense where the help has to help the cutter. And then you could kick it to the corner for a three or you help on the baseline which allows the guy in the wing to sag to the corner, cut, relocate, kick out, shoot, and then build off that and continue motion. Right. Well, if Markin is the without a question most efficient and effective catch and shoot three-point guy in the NBA, well, in this heat system, when you have Mitchell crashing, Powell crashing, Bam crashing, Hawkins, all of these defenses will collapse to prevent Miami from getting easy shots at the rim, which if they’ve been able to do so frequently, which would allow Lori Marin in even more opportunities to catch and shoot from beyond the arc and knock them down. He would be the perfect addition for this Heat offense, especially in that front court that lacks size. You add Marin in that front court next to Bam. My god, that would be spectacular. Be the GM. Are you interested in Lori Market in like I am? Type Y for yes or type N for no. I mean, how could you not? And I just want to go through more advanced analytics. I mean, if you are someone who enjoys analytics and offense, Lori Markin is the perfect player for you. 85th percentile in true shooting percentage. 86th percentile on portability. What does that mean? Well, your ability based off your skill set and your play style to fit in any offensive scheme. And I think that is true for Markin in any other offensive scheme. But I think it’s taken up even another notch if he comes to this new offensive scheme that Miami employs. And then his crafted, which is coming from crafted NBA offensive plus minus, it’s 2.8 96%. He’s been one of the best offensive players in the NBA. I don’t know how much more I can hammer that thought process home. And his contract, well, he’s under contract for a very long time. And some might get a little scared by this number because you are paying Lori Market in a max contract. And I’ll even be the one to raise my hand. Yeah, Lori’s been phenomenal this year, but is he a max contract guy? because I view max contract players as guys that can be a one or a two on a title team. Can Lori Markin be a one or a two on a title team? I don’t really think that is the case. He’s more of a three in my opinion. And you look at Miami and you’re like, well, if he joins his team, can they win a title? I don’t know. It would have to be one of those kind of a nominally anomaly, excuse me, championships to where you don’t have a true number one guy and it’s more of a collective unit like the Pacers team from a year ago that almost won the title. You think about those Pistons teams in the early mid 2000s, although they won with defense, not so offense, which was what Miami and Indiana are attempting to do. So, I’m not sure if he would help you really cement yourself as a title threat in terms of winning it, but he would make you the cream of the crop in the Eastern Conference in my opinion, and I’ll explain more on that here in a second. But today’s show is sponsored by Prize Fix. The basketball season continues to roll on and the feeling of being right never gets old. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks, it’s good to be right. And listen, I’m not advocating for Miami to go allin. certainly have to see the how the rest of the season plays out once Tyler Herro returns to the lineup um and how it goes until February before the NBA trade deadline. But if you deem yourselves as a upgrade away from winning the Eastern Conference and potentially winning the NBA Finals, then maybe you do go all in and try to trade for Laura Market. And the player that I’m specifically trying to upgrade on is Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins has certainly had his moments for the Miami Heat, but he is way too inconsistent of a basketball player. I’ll use Monday’s game against the New York Knicks as an example. He could not hit water falling out of a boat. He was absolutely horrendous. But the issue I have is not that he couldn’t make a shot. It’s his IQ. like he’s driving at times into multiple defenders and putting up a wild shot that has no chance to go in or driving into traffic and turning the ball over. Sure, Wiggins can be very impactful defensively and on the glass, but Markin would elevate your offensive ceiling, which is crazy to say with how good Miami’s been this year. He would help you on the glass. He’s a much better rebounder than Andrew Wiggins. Do you take a slight hit defensively? Sure. But I’ll be willing to trade that off in order to get bigger and better in your three-point shooting and on the offensive end of the floor. So, what is my trade idea for Lori Marketin? Well, Miami at right now is only capable of sending two first round picks, that being in 2030 and 2032. Those I would be willing to part ways with both of them. Now, you’re having to match salary. Market is making quite a bit of money. So, I’m doing that with Andrew Wiggins’s $28 million. the $26 million expiring contract of Terry Rosier and the sweetener, if you will, is Nicoolola Yova. So, you get salary, including a veteran and Andrew Wiggins. Two unprotected first round picks and a young guy that could fill the void left by Lori Market in Nicoolola Yoic, who obviously Miami has extended and can’t trade him until close to the deadline, right? And it’s actually difficult to trade him as well because he is on that rookie contract extension. But Nicole Yovic has made himself expendable because he has simply put not been that good this year. I would be willing to trade Hawz too if they really wanted Hawz over Yoic. I would not trade both of them because you’d ideally want to keep the other for that same role they currently have coming off of the bench if you’re going in for a title. But if they wanted Hawkeyes over Yoic, I’d be willing to trade Hawkeyes instead of Yoic in order to secure Lori Market in because I do believe he would be a massive upgrade over Andrew Wiggins and be someone that can elevate Miami ceiling within the Eastern Conference, especially with how much Yovic has struggled this year. I’m getting nervous about his long-term future in Miami. I would also consider trading Tyler Herro, too. Now, that kind of package would be entirely different, right? You’re not trading probably Hero Wiggins and young players. It would be either Yuri and Wiggins and one first round pick or it would be Hero and Rosier plus maybe another young guy like Hero Rosir and like Yoic and no first round picks because Hero’s trade value obviously is probably one or two first round picks in its own right with him being an ascending player. Um but it’s certainly interesting, right? I would consider trading Tyler Herro in a different type of package, but my preferred package would be a Rosier Yovic and um Wiggins le package with some draft capital. And if you did that, this would be your ideal kind of 10-man rotation when it’s all said and done. You probably start DaVon Mitchell for defense at that point of attack alongside Tyler Herro and Norman Powell as that scoring punch from the wing and the perimeter. But then you add Lori Mark into that starting lineup because he is a natural four. He can guard three through five as well. And you pair him up with Bam at a bio in that front court. And then your fiveman rotation off the bench would then be Drew Smith as that lead point guard defender. Kel Larson as the all you can do Swiss Army knife. Hawk as that sixman that’s been sensational this year. The backup big that is Kal Wear. You can rotate him by himself with Bam with Lori Market in. You also have the sniper off the bench in Simone Fontakio. This is a team that has maybe a top three offense in basketball. I mean, you replace Wiggins and Yoic basically with Lori Marketing and your team takes a massive step up offensively and we’re already talking about a top five offensive team in the NBA right now in the Miami Heat. So you really just commit to being an offensive le team and sure you would struggle maybe defensively but you would improve offensively as well as as a rebounding team because you add size and a better rebounder in Lori marketin. I think this team would absolutely be able to compete with the Cavaliers with the Knicks and whatever other team in the Eastern Conference you want to throw out there. Would they be be good enough to beat the Thunder? And if you matched up with them in the finals I don’t know probably not. I think the Thunder sleepwalk to a finals and get their back-to-back championship this year anyway, but it gives you a chance to at least be at the table with the Thunder in the NBA finals in June. It really does. So, let me know your thoughts. This is my trade idea. Would you accept this deal if you’re the Miami Heat? Would you trade Yovic Rosier and Andrew Wiggins plus two unprotected first round picks to get Lorie Market in? George Nyang is really just there for salary filler at this point. He’s an expiring $8 million contract, but let me know your thoughts. Ultimately, if you had to put a gun to my head, I actually don’t even think the Jazz would take that package. I do believe that with how well Lori is played, I think they could talk themselves into keeping him and not selling him. Is that smart? I don’t know. Like I said, you might want to sell him at the highest value, but if they don’t sell, they’re not going to trade Lori Market in. And maybe they would want more of a better, younger package. like they might request uh salary Yic and wear plus first round picks. You know, Danny Angel likes to play hard ball, especially with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat. So, it could be difficult to get a deal done at a right price point for Miami. But I did want to use today to talk about potentially targeting Lori Markin because I do actually believe out of all of the players that could become available between now and the February trade deadline, Lori Marketin might be the perfect and ideal trade target for the Miami Heat. And if you have more thoughts on marketing and heat basketball, you could always go find me and hit me up on Twitter, Nick the handle. Be live again tomorrow for Heat Bulls, so make sure you join us. That'd be the smartest move the Heat have made since clearing their cap for the 2010 off-season
That is the ultimate target! 7ft that can play with our pace, defend, score from outside and inside. Yea thatโs the guyโ
Now this guy will fit right in. They can keep AD and Ja.

Iโd be so down a 7fter who can play 3-5 extremely efficient catch and shoot. Not a terrible defender either not elite but serviceable.Though niang is fine ofc but if they donโt want to give him up for whatever reason. Iโd be fine asking for kyle andersom his iq and playmaking could really do good in this heat offense imo.

Be nice but knowing pat, he'll probably offer Andrew Wiggins, Joviฤ and try to lowball on the draft picks.
No chance they trade him with his current performance
Yes
I would like it if the Heat were to extend Powell and trade Herro amd a few assets to bring in Lauri. A startimg lineup of Mitchell, Powell. Wiggins, Lauri, and Bam can compete for a championship
Is Mitchell going to rebound with so many shooters.
PS. This non-winning player makes $47 mill a year ๐๐๐
Him for who?
yes, the Heat should sharp and decide to get Markkanen at any cost
F ROLLY. F The Heat! But …peace Rolly!โ๐ฟ Go Knicks!
Trade Jovic and a pick for Steven Adams is the most realistic scenario.
Honestly why not trade herro ? We keep our team who been good when healthy herro havenโt played yet and we donโt lose no depth just Herro we get more size and rebounding
You all got fooled by Rozier.. big #s on a bad team & you want to do it again with Lauri?! When will you learn?
No Iโd rather explore a trade for Morant Zion or Trey Murphy
No but get rid of Jovic
Trade jovic for peanuts an rozier
Don't trade Wiggs
Utah is going to want half the Heat roster for Lauri. Ainge is stingier than Pat when it comes to trades
Lauri has been our Moby Dick for years, it'd be a miracle work netting him. I've been saying he should be the main target since he was on the Bulls
That's not a realistic trade. Danny Ainge is gonna want 10 first round picks for Markaneen.
Danny Ainge gonna want 5 1st rd picks, your top player, your top bench player, cash, keys to your house and car, and your soul for Markkanen
Not getting him without giving up Bam so that's a no.
