Sal says the Mets may need Cody Bellinger AND Kyle Tucker if they lose Pete Alonso:

I would pay Pete. So anyway, if Pete is open to DH, which the reports are he is, there is no excuse to me for the Mets to draw the line anywhere. I I get that it’s getting ridiculous when you start thinking of you’re going to give him 200 million bucks, but but I Yeah, I mean, whatever the market says, that means somebody else is willing to pay it. You should then bring Pete back. And if you don’t, then you need you better make sure you get Bellinger and you probably need Tucker on top of that. Like it it can’t be. Now you I don’t think the Mets could bring back both Pete and NMO and make their team better defensively. No, I I don’t like that. I So that’s why I’m saying I think I think there’s a better chance I said this last night on Sports on SNY. I think there’s a better chance the Mets move on from NMO and keep Pete than the easy thought of well Pete’s not signed, he’s going to walk and the Mets will be stuck with NMO because he can’t be traded. I think that they know they’d be better off investing the money that they invested in NMO in Pete instead.

If the Mets lose their homegrown star, Sal wants to see a massive response in the free agent market.

  1. It wasnt like they gave Nimmo this money cause they were being careless . Nimmo had a big market when he was a free agent I remember the rockies and Giants were seriously trying to obtain him and that market drove his price up . I love nimmo as a player but the money makes it difficult to have him here next year over Pete. Soto needs protection and alonso has to be brought back.

  3. Tucker and Bellinger? Guys think it’s fantasy baseball. They should keep Pete and Diaz. They should sign King for the rotation. Need arms for bullpen. Team is kind of a mess lol. Hope Sterns can make right moves
